  1. I believe that the LC map project played a big part in this whole drama. Importing maps from GTA IV, even though it would have required a legal copy of IV installed on the user's end, is quite the legal landmine that the Red Dead map stepped on. I wonder what kind of mods would have been possible with animation editing? importing animations from IV, that sort of thing? it looks unlikely that we'll ever get to that stage now, but unless the tool source code is leaked for other developers we can dream. Hopefully the community backlash and petition making the news will make T2 stand down and rescind their demands, but the future looks bleak for further developments of what the community can do with the game. Makes me wonder why Rockstar can't just make the singleplayer and Online directories separate for future games and go down the Bethesda route with an official curated singleplayer workshop.
  2. Ironically, I think this whole situation will backfire massively on T2; tons of bad press, we're more focused on keeping modding than ever, and links to pre-patch OpenIV installers are popping up everywhere, so the whole blanket ban thing is pretty meaningless considering new modders can just get a dropbox link on GTAforums. Touch'e T2.
  3. If this is true, surely they can just shelve the Liberty project and keep OpenIV live unless specified?
  4. I sure hope this is some sort of prank or scam, as mentioned before this C/D demand letter seems to be full of typos and spelling mistakes. Lawyers are usually pretty thorough on these matters so it does seem a little fishy. In any case, OpenIV can still be used as long as you yank your ethernet cable before updating it, and possibly keeping the game at a previous version through the launcher bypass mod. Hopefully we'll get some real information on whether this is a genuine demand or some idiot playing with the tool creators.
  5. From that brief snippet of gameplay I'm getting a SWAT 4 vibe from it. I hope it's similar enough in style to be a spiritual sequel, at least until (if) Sierra revives the license.
  6. Are there any gameconfig files that make RDE compatible with LSPDFR at the moment? after the game update a while ago I can't use both at the same time because it crashes every time.
  7. Wow these are amazing! one question; in the 2-11 video how did you do the radio animation at 2:10 seconds in? I wish lspdfr could use that when accepting a callout.
  8. I'm not sure if this is a feature already, but I would like to see a random event where if you stop a ped using E there would be a chance that he would run from you in a foot pursuit, much like how some drivers flee when you pull them over. It would add an element of unpredictability to stopping peds and be realistic.
  9. Hi all, I was wondering if there are any British police ped mods that include a custodian hat model? I know there was one for IV but so far I can't see one for V. If there isn't one, would anyone consider converting the IV model or helping me with it?
  10. If that happened to me, then of course if I was armed I'd blow him away to preserve my life. This is one thing many people don't understand about cops- in violent situations self preservation kicks in to survive no matter what resulting in unfounded 'brutalitah!' accusations. Besides which, anyone attacking a cop with a knife is probably a lowlife who won't be missed anyway.
  11. In my view, it's the stranglehold that left-leaning controlling interests have on some of the bigger mainstream media outlets (for instance, the BBC is now so PC and left-biased that it's essentially a propaganda station) that reinforces this view of 'yes, this thing happened but we're downplaying it so as to not offend certain groups'. We all know what's happening, but we're not allowed to express these opinions on mainstream sites for a notional fear of offence. Political correctness is almost a tool to keep the media churning out stories that spin the truth to whatever tune the controlling interest likes, and frankly most people are getting wiser to this. Just like when they used to -and in some cases still do- whip up some spin story to demonize one group or another to add to the whole mess.
  12. The biggest issue I have with the default cops in V is that they're all essentially the same model; bald headed big guys that look ridiculous. The Beta cops mod by Yard1 improves them greatly, but it's annoying for the default ones to have essentially no variety except for skin colour. Maybe if we can figure out a way to get both the default and beta ones to spawn in the game it will mix things up a bit. Or maybe even an extension to EUP that spawns random generated cops.
  13. The big issue presented in the report is that it is a highly biased, edited hackjob showing the frankly ridiculous behaviour from GTA 5's AI; lspdfr playthroughs are typically very realistic and non-violent. However the developers of lspdfr/lcpfr can't change the way the game itself was designed to play out, and as such the overly violent parts of these videos used in the clip are just showing the side effects of modifying GTA's AI behaviour which is programmed to freak out and blow things up. The mod itself is very pro-police and has a fantastic community of police enthusiasts. It's just that the game it modifies is itself the problem in that it's hyperviolent GTA, not a simulation like ARMA.
  14. 'Underground computer geeks'. For god's sake, whoever thought this story up is an idiot. This is a non story if I've ever seen one.

  17. Is it possible to change what loadouts police spawned at roadblocks during wanted levels have? I've had a look at the loadouts file but I can't identify the roadblock spawning cops. Are they hardcoded or can they be changed with the other loadouts?

  19. With the addition of customizable buttons and additional API support, does this mean plugin developers can add their own button functions to the radio? it would mean being able to access plugin features from a central menu and avoid having a keyboard full of accidentally-pressed hotkeys.
  20. That was quick, who knows what people will come up with. It certainly seems more moddable than II, though that had a fantastic Free Roam 3.0 mod.
  21. The game is certainly a departure from the more linear mission-based approach of the previous games; whether it's a welcome change or not is up for debate. Personally, I'm not too sure about the game so far; aside from Lincoln and Vito, none of the characters seem memorable alongside the more abstract story. The gameplay is decent, with good shooting/basic stealth combo missions standing out. The driving, on the other hand, is frankly a bit hit-and-miss compared to II's driving. I'm especially disappointed in the police/wanted system, as all the cops do now is shoot on sight, even for minor things like crashes or pushing past a cop, stuff which would have warranted a ticket and nothing more in previous games, and the AI is dull (I went up to a group of cops and repeatedly ran into them and jumped all over their cars, all for a collection of disgruntled stares and racist comments) making it not so fun to play. One thing that does shine is the ambiance in the missions and the open world, it really feels quite alive and detailed, for example sneaking past a cop car to hear the dispatch audio. As far as police modding goes, I'm not too sure it'll really go anywhere, as the lack of an arrest animation outside mission-specific instances not to mention the difficulty of making scripts for the game makes the prospect unlikely.
