  1. Allright my friend - maybe my english isn't perfect. I am pretty sure I won't get ill from alcohol and I mean I won't get alcoholic cirrhosis or epilepsy from it because I consume alcohol moderately. The same goes for marijuana. If consumed moderately it will not do you any harm but genetic factors could cause problems with addiction, like with alcohol. Don't call me misinformed and don't say I have no clue about anything in the medical field. You're just acting aggressively so stop it and stop insulting people. I have not provided any articles because I tried to explain to you what I meant. Throwing around articles doesn't help anything. I even explained to you what your articles exactly stated. EDIT: There you go, studies http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3576702/ - on the subject of Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome http://aje.oxfordjournals.org/content/156/4/319.short - on the subject of psychiatric diseases and marijuana http://archpsyc.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=496554 - on the subject of psychiatric diseases and marijuana and I could go on. Just quoting studies doesn't help you if you don't understand what's in them. Like I said previously: I explained to you what your study said.
  2. You could not tear apart my entire post because it seems like you didn't read what I posted. Of course moderate marijuana consumation doesn't harm the lungs. If you smoke a cigarette only when you go out clubbing every two weeks for 10 years your lungs will eventually heal. But you do smoke it and you do inhale the smoke. If you do that regularily it won't harm your lungs as much as cigarettes but it WILL harm them. You CAN OD marijuana, I don't know where you have these numbers from because cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome is a known medical syndrome caused by a marijuana overdose. OD doesn't mean death, that's what your numbers say: The amount of marijuana needed to kill you. But overdose doesn't mean death. Only for heroine and other hard drugs where ODing equals dying. There are also other medicaments that cause nausea or unconsciousness when OD but you don't die from them. And marijuana doesn't heal cancer, read the studies, you might see I am right. They stop cell growth, they act as inhibitory factor for tumor cells (yeah there also is this study about apoptosis, I give you that), but the don't kill the cells. Of course it's a good effect if a tumor stops growing but it doesn't kill the tumor. Also this doesn't work for every sort of tumor (not even a lot of different tumors) and there still is a lot of psychology involved. Of course I can't prove anything, but I do study medicine in Munich so I know a little bit about the anatomy of our body and how different systems work, so my facts are from a valid source: university. We can of course discuss the topic further and I can try to explain you exactly what I meant and what the scientific facts behind my opinion are, write me a PM if u want to. But don't say my points aren't valid because I do have an equal amount of studies on my side. Studies on the topic of marijuana are also heavily influenced by how people think about it. It is more likely to say marijuana is good for your body when you personally defend marijuana and it is more likely to say marijuana is bad for your body when you're against it. Also I never said I am completely against it. I am against legalization because we don't need a third drug. Marijuana is a psychoactive drug like alcohol and therefore has its dangers. I support the use of marijuana if medically indicated for certain symptoms or diseases like the treatment of pain for cancer patients. But you don't have to insult me. Acting aggressively and insulting while stating that you consumed marijuana a lot doesn't benefit your cause either.
  3. I personally am against legalization of marijuana. Most of my friends have smoked a joint at least one time and they're behaving completely normal. I don't condemn people who are marijuana-consumers but saying that the drug has no side effects just isn't correct. You know, our society unfortunately already has two legal drugs - tobacco and alcohol, both are bad for your health but we won't ban them because they're a social "ritual". Yes, tobacco is bad for your lungs and alcohol is bad for your liver (to a certain extent for your brain). If we could go back in time and decide which drugs we want to legalize and if we had to chose 2, I would say let's take alcohol and marijuana. But now that tobacco and alcohol are legal I feel that adding a third drug to that wouldn't benefit our society. Because marijuana isn't harmless - it is a psychotropic substance, that's why people consume it, if it wouldn't have any effect, people wouldn't smoke marijuana. There are a lot of people with alcohol or tobacco related health problems, now if you make marijuana completely legal and easily accessible (even more easy than it already is) there will be more patients who deal with the effects of marijuana. From a medical point of view, alcohol can cause epilepsy after withdrawal when consumed for a long time, marijuana can be a trigger-factor for psychiatric diseases. I won't say marijuana will cause these diseases but as we know nowadays, genetics influence the probability of having psychiatric diseases, now you might never become ill, but if u consume marijuana regularily it might act as a trigger. Also, marijuana is suspected (like alcohol) to cause Alzheimer's disease - read more on the subject of how Alzheimer's develops - and from having seen a lot of Alzheimer's patients, I wouldn't take the risk of ever getting that disease. But you also have to consume marijuana somehow - you smoke it. While smoking a joint isn't as bad for your lungs as smoking a cigarette, it certainly does harm the lungs. Like alcohol, marijuana doesn't to a lot of harm to one organ but little harm to a lot of organs. I drink alcohol every weekend and I won't ever get ill from that, unlike a lot of other people with alcohol problems. The same goes for marijuana, a lot of people won't get ill from that, but there certainly will be more people getting ill from it when it is legalized. Like alcohol, marijuana can act as an escape from reality for people. So to clear up some of the medical misinterpretations in this topic: Marijuana affects the dopamine inside the brain? - No it doesn't. Cocaine does affect the D1 and D2 (dopamine) receptors inside the brain, marijuana doesn't. Theoretically you should be able to treat Parkinson's with cocaine because the effects of cocaine counteract the effects of Parkinson's. But nobody would do that because cocaine does have a hell lot of negative side effects. That leads me to point 2: Marijuana can heal epilepsy? - I have read the article about the little girl with epilepsy. Marijuana is a muscle relaxant so it makes sense, but also, marijuana somehow affects the chemical balance inside our brain. On the one hand this influence can cause epilepsy to stop for some patients (because epilepsy mainly is an imbalance in the brain's chemical structure that causes neurones to fire uncontrollably) but on the other hand - especially with children - it changes this balance and that is especially harmful for a brain in development. I really wan't to read a study on that in 20 years from now, how the brain of that girl developed. It is like alcohol, giving a child alcohol when it is 7 years old or so can cause its brain to develop in a wrong way. Marijuana can heal cancer? - No it can't. As simple as that. Marijuana is mainly used for pain therapy and it is good for that. But marijuana can not kill cancer cells, it has no effects on these cells unlike chemotherapy that is designed specially for a special sort of cancer. So while marijuana might take the patient's pain it may help him "activate" his self-healing-powers. But that's mainly a psychological thing and doesn't work for a lot of people. Marijuana has no sideeffects/You can't OD marijuana? - Yes it does have sideffects like the ones I mentionned above: Alzheimer's, smoking it harms the lungs, trigger for psychiatric diseases, ... Also you can indeed OD marijuana. That's known as cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome - unfortunately people rarely diagnose it right because the patient won't admit smoking marijuana and the symptoms are similar to other diseases. But it definitely IS caused by marijuana (symptoms are vomiting/severe nausea and colicky abdominal pain - the symptoms stop after stopping to consume marijuana). Also the death statistics have to interpretated correctly: People don't die from smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol, they die from diseases they got from smoking cigarettes (like COPD) or asphyxiation when unconscious because of too much alcohol or because of liver-diseases like alcoholic cirrhosis. Of course cigarettes and alcohol are the reasons behind the death, but patients don't die directly from it unlike heroine that causes breathing arrest when OD (which actually is pretty easy to counteract, there's a nice memory hook: "Every junkie gets Narcanti"). So there are a lot of things that people don't think of when talking about the legalization of marijuana. I know it isn't the most dangerous drug, and it makes sense when used as a prescription drug in medicine but I wouldn't legalize it because we already have 2 legal drugs that affect our society in bad ways sometimes and adding a third drug to that most certainly wouldn't benefit it either. Defenders of marijuana always come up with some medical "wonders" that - when viewed from a scientific point - aren't "wonders" at all and might come with serious side-effects. Monologue end.
  4. I have never experienced any crashes since I started playing BF4. I also heard that the netcode issue is far worse in the US than it is over here in Europe. So technically, if you have a strong machine you shouldn't have any problems running it (if you have a new AMD graphics card they even improve your performance with Mantle). I've never had problems with hitboxes. But like I said, the netcode problem might be worse in the US, because for me the delay is max. 0,5 seconds or something like that, you think you're behind cover but you still get shot. But the netcode is far from being as bad as BF3's, at least that's what I think, because in BF3 you got shot even after you were like 2 seconds behind cover. Overall I have a lot of fun with BF4 now, I really like the new maps and what really makes BF4 better than BF3 and the true successor to BF2 is the little detail improvements. So try to figure out how the netcode works for people in your are (or in all of the US) and decide whether you want to wait until they fix it or start to play right away ;) I am so hyped for Naval Strike (DLC) - brings back my favorite match type of all time - Titan from 2142 only on aircraft carriers
  5. That's the strange thing, my system runs GTA IV better with a high end ENB. I guess it makes GTA use my GPU better and therefore increases my overall performance
  6. I reinstalled my GTA IV and did a Benchmark Test, without ENB GTA IV told me I had an average 60 FPS, I also set everything to GTA IV's adviced settings now it is running pretty smoothly, haven't tested it with an ENB yet, but that shouldn't cost too much FPS. Seems like I had to push the settings higher to achieve better usage of my GPU. Strange, higher settings equal better performance ... well I guess GTA IV is just a really bad PC port. Thanks, I'll check that out, it does look pretty cool :)
  7. Yeah like I said it seems like every ENB causes a huge performance loss. Well I may try iCEnhancer to test if that works better for me, thanks :)
  8. Yeah I already did that, without the commandline I get the same error as with all settings on medium
  9. Hey there guys, well, I have some issues with GTA IV. I know it isn't a great port for PC and therefore has it's technical flaws, but I wanted to ask you guys if you have any tips for me how to increase my performance in GTA IV and fix some of the issues I am experiencing. That leads us to said issues, so what are my problems? First of all my PC specs: Graphics card: AMD Radeon R9 280X Processor: AMD FX6100 @ 3,3 GHz 8 GB RAM 1 TB SATA Harddrive I guess that's all that's needed. So I do have a pretty good graphics card and I think the rest of my computer setup is pretty OK too. I am playing GTA IV with Chikamru ENB 1.1 and there we go. It seems like whenever I install an ENB I drop from 60 FPS to 20 FPS and lower and a drop of 40 FPS with my hardware seems a little strange because I can't even install car packs (not even light ones) because when I do I get texture losses everywhere. I managed to reduce the texture loss (I am getting from a few police cars and an ambulance) with the LAA and Razer Game Booster. Now I'd like to record some gameplay videos but you can imagine that's not going to be possible when I'm playing with 20 FPS without Fraps recording. So what the heck is wrong with my GTA IV? Is it really my processor that is too weak for the game? Do I have too many mods? Is the ENB unsuitable for my system? Another issue I have is when I try to reduce my game settings. Whenever I set everything to medium GTA IV won't start and tells me I don't have enough VRAM to run the game ... well, I only got 3GB of VRAM so yeah GTA, that might be the problem ... not. Is there any way to fix this? God I really hope u guys can help me out because I really would prefer playing GTA IV with an ENB, and I think my PC should be strong enough to handle it. Otherwise tell me it isn't. Thanks
  10. Unfortunately we seem to live in a time when spying on your own citizens is very much normal for a country. Like a lot of people before me already stated: The NSA didn't counter any terrorist attacks yet but have spied on a lot of people without any warrant or legalization. If only they "just" spied on us to "protect us from attacks", but that's not the only thing the NSA does. They spy on Angela Merkels phone. But why? Not because they suspect Mrs. Merkel to be a terrorist but to get detailed information about german economics. They spied on a lot of people in the EU. Why? Not because they suspect THEM to be terrorists but also to obtain economical information on the EU. This institution, the NSA, completely ignores laws to gain information on economics to provide them to US corporations for unfair advantages. It's not only that they spy on us, citizens of the world, but also on corporations and states and people like Mrs. Merkel to commit economic espionage. The first one, spying on our own citizens, is illegal in almost every human rights charta of the world, the second one, economic espionage, is forbidden by a lot of other laws. So how is providing US corporations with illegally obtained informations protecting the US' citizens from terrorism? We can't let this flow of information and this ignorance concerning our rights get out of control. I know that, unfortunately, every country in this world needs their intelligence cervices to protect them from foreign powers. But these countrys don't need these institutions to protect themselves from their citizens. A country must not be afraid of their citizens. We already had periods in history were the control of these institutions completely failed. In Europe, we had so called "Biedermeier" (especially in Austria) where the chancellor of Austria spied on his own people. People knew that and people started to concentrate on their domestic life and were actually afraid of saying what they thought. That resulted in the revolution of 1848. In the US, McCarthyism is another example where the state spied on its own people and used the information to oppress people who thought differently, and of course, Nazi-Germany also created the StaSi to spy on its own people and arrest them, oppress them, eliminate them. Now imagine all these scenarios with the far more advanced technology of nowadays. I find it pretty disturbing to read Orwell's 1984 today because in some parts of the world that's pretty much how daily life is. I am not saying that it has already come that far, but the technology the NSA posesses is very dangerous and has to be regulated carefully to stop if from spying on innocent people, use it for economic espionage and start using it again for what it was originally created for: military foreign espionage. PS: The chinese spied on US companys to get economic advantages and steal patents. Now the NSA is doing that with Europe. Anybody okay with that? I am not. I think what the chinese did was illegal as is what the NSA is doing. Like i already said, I don't think a country can completely abandon foreign espionage but it must not use it as a tool to break its own laws.
  11. Take Screenshots with Fraps or run GTA IV in windowmode. I personally prefer the solution with Fraps.
  12. You can change your unit number when you create a new profile for yourself. The mod won't have different languages when the BETA comes out but Mordecki definitely wants to support different languages so the mod should be translateable in later versions ;)
  13. Well, policehelper isn't my main issue with 1.0 because at least it works most of the time, that's why I ranked it #4. But the pursuits sometimes really ruin the fun for me. Like I said, even limiting the amount of cops that can join in would be a huge improvement in my view. I set cop cars in pursuit to 2 and cops in pursuit to 6 but still last time I chased a suspect it came to a total of 10 cars (=20 cops) plus myself (and partner) in pursuit. And with GTA IV's AI you can easily imagine how that went. So I feel like limiting the overall cops in pursuits would be a huge step forward. I like Sam's idea of adding "wanted levels" to pursuits but for me, the basic pursuit system isn't finished yet. Because like I stated in my first post, everyone joining in on a pursuit on foot doesn't make any sense to me and neither does 10 cop cars chasing one suspect. So I hope this topic is a little reminder for the devs to polish the (definitely improved from RC2) system before they add any new features to it. I like that there are a lot of ideas out there that could make LCPDFR even better but I think the more serious issues should be addressed first.
  14. Yeah, policehelper works with LCPDFR 1.0 but after some time its functions start to crash. Like when you try to call an ambulance nothing happens anymore. So basically it works just fine but it gets worse. Well I can deal with it, so my major problems with LCPDFR 1.0 are the pursuits, to be honest. It doesn't seem finished to me yet and I hope the devs think of tweaking the settings a little bit. I know that GTA IV is mainly to blame for it because of the AI's stupidity but I trust the devs to do a better job on police AI than Rockstar did ;)
  15. Hello my fellow Liberty City police officers, I created this topic to suggest a few improvements to the gameplay of LCPD:FR. I've noticed quite a few things that keep annoying me and ruin my fun while playing 1.0. I looked all over the forums if anybody has already posted the things I wanted to mention here and I didn't find anything. 1) Pursuits - I know GTA IV's driving AI is like straight from hell but still LCPD:FR 1.0 makes it even worse for me. I like the new pursuit system that works just like in normal GTA IV but the amount of cars and some of the core mechanics behind it seem a little odd. I know I can reduce the number of cars in the initial pursuit in the .ini file but that doesn't prevent patrolling cops from joining the pursuit. I'd really like to see an option in the .ini file where we can set the maximum cars in pursuit. So if there are already like 5 cars no others will join in. 2) Pursuits on foot - LCPDFR automatically calls in a pursuit for fleeing suspects on foot the moment I encounter them. I don't get why. That makes everything around the callout a lot more complicated because suddenly all hell brakes loose in the area when I could have caught the suspect on my own or with my partner. I understand that the developers wanted to make patrolling officers to join the pursuit but maybe they could limit that to officers on foot and prevent police cars to join. I think the best option would be to chase the suspect on your own and if you feel like you need help you can call in backup to help you with the pursuit so you have contoll over the callout and not randomly have everyone around join you. 3) Arrest cutscene - When you drive to the police station to hand over the suspect to your colleagues, sometimes the cutscene gets a little annoying. An option to skip it would be nice. Also entering the mission marker on foot would be cool because if you arrest somebody near the police station without your car, getting back to your car (at the police station), getting in the car and then driving into the mission marker seems strange. 4) Policehelper support - I know a lot of the functions vdH policehelper has are also supported by LCPDFR 1.0 but I have to admit I prefer policehelper. EMS works more reliably as well as road blocks. From what I've heard the developer of the policehelper isn't working on it anymore so I have to ask the LCPDFR devs if there's anything they can do about policehelper's functions crashing regularily with LCPDFR 1.0 - Or they make LCPDFR's EMS and roadblocks just as awesome as policehelper's ;)
  16. Yeah, I'd also like some simple calls just to enhance the normal gameplay. Things that occur more often in a normal policeman's day than huge armed robberies.
  17. It will definitely come out, and it won't take too long anymore - but I promise it is worth the wait ;)
  18. Soccer: Bayern München ('cause I live in Munich half of the year) Football: Green Bay Packers ('cause it started out as a rivalry with a friend of mine who favored the Steelers in Super Bowl then) So that's it :)
  19. Liberty City definitely needs more and better placed traffic lights, like the ones in GTA V. If you're driving in first person u can barely see the traffic lights, so if your mod changes that I'd be really happy
  20. Anyone else experiences strange issues with 1.0 and vdH Policehelper? They don't seem to like each other. Policehelper ambulance request fails as well as spawning random events. Might be because LCPDFR 1.0 introduced the exact same features?
  21. I really like the effort they put into this, especially trying to keep it realistic with features like grabbing a suspect and putting him/her in a car but there are some things I'd also like to see changed in future updates. What I find especially annoying are the following things: Whenever a suspect flees on foot, there suddenly starts a chase on him/her with all nearby police forces while I could easily take the suspect down all on my own with my taser. Would be nice if a pursuit only started when I call in backup. Might be an issue just on my side or maybe they just overlooked this. I'd like to see standard police officers just use their pistols or shotguns in case of large scale disturbances but not an M4 for a car stop. It looks quite odd when I perform a routine traffic stop and go to the side window to check for the driver's license and my partner is aiming at them with his M4. That just isn't realistic for me. Some settings in the .ini with usable weapon types for different police officers would be cool, like setting the Noose to use carabines as well as pistols and standard police officers only use pistols and shotguns.
