  1. We can't tell you an exact release date. The mod is depending on Mordecki's and my spare time and both of us are currently involved in university and other courses. But we are still working on it on a regular basis and finishing up some of the major features. I see that all of you have been waiting for a very long time already, but I really think we're pretty close to the finish line. I know that doesn't mean much to you because you don't know what "pretty close" means. But since the last trailer we came up with a lot of new ideas or ideas to improve our systems from back then, all that needs a lot of scripting work and Mordecki is the only one in our Two-Man-Team who is capable of scripting. We have one major system yet to finish. The ideas are fleshed out, the main scripting work is currently being done. After that it needs some polishing. The other systems are pretty much done, still some bugfixing here and there and polishing but they're mostly already very enjoyable. I have posted a topic some time ago here on the LCPD:FR forums to ask you guys what kind of treatment system you want, and if you read up on that, you'll see that the advanced treatment system is a lot of work, especially for Mordecki. But I think taking time is the major factor of why the mod is running so incredibly stable (at least for me). Mordecki built in a lot of checks to get rid of bugs and crashes. So while not every idea we came up with during the creation process might be in our first release, all the important parts will already be there. And I think I can say: We'll be back with some more to show you guys soon.
  2. Hey there guys :) I am looking for some new cars to put some of my new skins on. Unfortunately I haven't found the proper car in my large fleet of downloaded cars, so I am asking you guys for help. I am looking for a CVPI with a high quality Code 3 RX2700 and high quality interior. Polygon count doesn't matter that much for me. The RX2700 I want should look pretty much like that one: http://upic.me/i/cp/rx2700.jpg, with red/blue colored glass. I personally like Bxbugs123's RX2700, the one he used on his Ford Explorer, best, but I don't know if that one is available to the public. I also prefer Bxbugs123's CVPI to the DSF CVPI, but if the request taker (and I hope somebody will help me out ) likes working with the DSF CVPI (with HQ interior) better, I'm okay with that aswell. As for the interior: I don't really have any special wishes there. A Panasonic Toughbook would be nice and, if you're a super skilled modeller, a siren box that lights up with the lightbar. A Setina prisoner partition would also be awesome. On the outside, I'd love to have a Setina Pushbar. I really hope some of you talents out there can help me out and create the CVPI of my dreams
  3. I too would love to see them in my game someday - these nice Liberty lightbars might actually change my mind on the Liberty.
  4. Most people on Earth believe Hitler was german and Beethoven was austrian ... Whoops I think we austrians got away pretty fine
  5. World War II never would have happened, had the victorious nations not followed french minister Clemenceau's plans but Woodrow Wilson's. Wilson's plan would have tried to rebuild Germany and Austria while Clemenceau wanted to punish Germany and Austria due to german-french-antipathy. As a matter of fact, it did make sense for Austria to start the war at the time. Serbia was just a small country that openly supported Gavrilo Princip after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand - quite similar to the US attacking Afghanistan because the Taliban regime supported Bin Laden. Assassinating Franz Ferdinand was almost like killing the US president at the time because Emperor Franz Joseph didn't have any male children (after Rudolph killed himself). What Austria didn't know though was that france spun a network of alliances with Britain and other countries (the Entente). That ultimately resulted in a world war, like the OP posted. So after all, Clemenceau has to take a huge part of why Hitler could gather so many allies at the time. Hitler himself fought in WW1 (and got wounded, that's why he never used poison gas) and thought he had to restore germany and austria (which would never have happened, had the victors followed Wilson). But I think, while WW2 would have been preventable, these wars pushed us forward technologically. Jet turbines were invented, even nuclear fission was made accessable. Unfortunately, it seems that war pushes nations to invest more money into research. Modern wars have pushed research for prosthetic limbs so that since 2001, prosthetic limbs have come a lot closer to those we know from Star Wars. Wars always push trauma medicine forward because doctors have to come up with new ways to save soldiers who have been wounded on the battlefield. Since 2001 and 2003, trauma medicine learned about cooling the head after traumatic head injuries (like a shot to the head) to reduce the speed of celular activity and therefore reduce the speed these cells die. I think it is better to prevent wars and every war is cruel, especially on civilians, but at least we seem to learn new technologies from wars that otherwise might take a lot longer because nations wouldn't invest that much money in it. You see, during the cold war, the US and Russia did everything in their power to prove they're better than the other one. So they invested a huge amount of money into the conquering of space - which ultimately resulted in the US landing the first ever man on the moon. Now that there's no such big rival as russia at the time, the US has drastically reduced NASA's budget (a decision I find very troubling, space exploration is one of the most important scientific fields in my opinion, besides medicine). So to sum it up again: I don't think we'd be better off without the world wars. Europe came together after WW2, we created the EU and now have the longest period of peace in european history.
  6. Maybe I misunderstood your "heart attack statement" then. A person does instead die instantly from a cardiac arrest. A patient in cardiac arrest is considered clinically dead. The patient may be rescusitated, but after 10 minutes of asystoly, patients are normally declared dead. So maybe you were just using the wrong terms that led to my misunderstanding of your post - no bad blood on my side. But you have to differentiate between cardiac arrest and heart attack. This statement only made me think you wouldn't "bat an eye" if somebody had a heart attack. Trust me, I've seen far too many people who don't care. But I think we went pretty offtopic already, so back to topic.
  7. Well, the first situation you describe doesn't need much manpower. Allergic situations aren't hard to handle if the patient isn't in anaphylactic shock at the time. You just give adrenaline or cortisol and normally the patient should stabilize immediately. For patients in shock you just give them some O2 additionally and monitor their blood pressure. The airway should be free again in no time. So I'm not entirely sure why you mentioned that situation - no additional forces would be needed here, except the kid was in cardiac arrest (children are far easier to rescusitate though because their problems are mostly airway related and no heart tissue is damaged). What I was refering to was a cardiac arrest call where it is pretty sure that a patient is in cardiac arrest. You send everybody there to make sure somebody arrives as soon as possible. Every minute a patient stays in cardiac arrest without getting CPR, his chances of survival drop by 10%. Also something I forgot to mention: If you find somebody lying in a park or somewhere on a public place in cardiac arrest and the patient is declared dead, it is an unclear cause of death so you need police anyway. And I want to clarify something you mentionned about heart attacks. If somebody suffers from a heart attack he doesn't immediately drop dead. A NSTEMI (non-ST-elevation-myocardial-infarction) can take up to 72 hours to really become life-endangering. An acute STEMI (ST-elevation-myocardial-infarction) needs treatment within 24 hours. So patients who immediately feel symptoms and get treatment right away get away with minor tissue damage. I had a patient though who experienced chest pain the whole day until it got so bad at night (callout at 10PM) that she called an ambulance. She had already difficulty breathing because her heart activity was pretty weak and she developed pulmonary edema. I was just a paramedic at that time and not a doctor but our emergency physician said that, had we arrived one hour later she might have gone into cardiac arrest by then. So the danger of a heart attack definitely depends on the time of treatment. And even if somebody has a MCI because of fatty food he/she deserves to be treated properly - everybody should "bat an eye". You'd want treatment too, if it were you. If you were guilty of causing an MVA and you're trapped inside your car, I'm sure you'd want paramedics to help you too, not only the other patient you insured. So keep the ignorant comments for yourself. Another clarification: obese patients are a lot harder to rescusitate because you need to push deeper to give proper cardial massage. For every CPR call, a minimum of 6 people are on scene (in Germany/Austria mostly 2 ambulances + emergency physician vehicle with 1 paramedic and 1 doctor).
  8. Police is called to CPR to provide manpower and have somebody arrive on scene as early as possible. Sometimes a police car needs just 3 minutes to be on scene while the ambulance might need 7 or more minutes. If you wait for the ambulance to arrive, the patient has a 30% chance of survival while it is 70% when a police car arrives after 3 minutes. If you have a confirmed cardiac arrest call, dispatch might send the fire department, ambulances and the police (at least here in germany). The more people on scene the better, if you give CPR to somebody, you're pretty much done after 15 minutes, it is pretty intense. So imagine you want to transport somebody to a hospital while continuing CPR - you need as many people as you can get to share the work. So in Germany (or at least in Munich), especially at places with a lot of people (railway stations, airports, ...) there are a lot of forces called to an "unknown level of conciousness/cardiac arrest" call: One or two ambulances, emergency physician, fire trucks, local police and federal police to have somebody on scene as fast as possible. So to me it makes sense, but I don't know exactly how the US system works, seems like you've got a better survival rate for cardiac arrests.
  9. I could create some skins for you. I actually have one skin I really like but haven't finished yet on my PC, waiting for a nice model to put the skin on. I'd also like to create some new police skins as well, depending on when you need the skins. I'm currently in learning mode for my exam, but that's over on friday, so after that I'm all texture artist :D
  10. Ask me that question another time ... at the moment it's just neurophysiology books for my exam. But other than that, I can't really decide if I like fiction or non-fiction better. I've read the Harry Potter books, the Song of Ice and Fire books, a lot of other fantasy and science fiction books, but I've also read Keith Richards' biography, a lot of Oliver Sacks' books (read them if you are even a little interested in neurology/psychiatry or the funny stories that occur to you when you're a neurologist - Sacks actually wrote the book the movie "Insomnia" is based on). I could give a whole list of non-fiction books I absolutely love (like "Brain on fire" about a woman who suffers from Anti-NMDA-receptor-encephalitis - an auto-immune disease that has only recently been discovered). Still, I'd say I was always more of a fantasy reader, I love these worlds, far away from our own, where anything can happen. And a lot of people don't actually know what immense knowledge you can work into fictional works. Star Wars - for example - shows the rise of Julius Caesar with a lot of historically accurate details. You can put a lot more thoughts on philosophy into fictional works because you can write stories you couldn't write in a realistic setting. And I like to read some graphic novels from time to time. I've got the huge "Big Damn Sin City" collection by Frank Miller at home as well as the "Fables" books and some Batman stuff. And of course ... books for university ... I love learning 800+ Pages in 2 weeks ...
  11. I understand the necessety of legal abortions for rape-victims and I fully support that. But I don't support abortion in general. In my view there are a lot better options if a woman can't handle the pregnancy or being a mother - like giving the child up for adoption. And it is not the mother's decision alone anymore to have an abortion when there's an embryo inside of her that is going to be a human being. While some of you are right in saying that at first, an embryo is just a bunch of cells, these bunch of cells become a baby after nine months and should develop in a normal man/woman. So I think the right for that embryo to live is far more important than the right of personal freedom or "personal comfort" (and for some, having an abortion is just more comfortable). While in most countries abortions are legal just until about three months into the pregnancy, I don't think it should be legal for "convenience issues" at all. Like i said: The right to live is the most precious right all of us have, and how can we decide for an individual that has no voice of it's own at that moment but will have one after just nine months. I had "Neuroethics" as an elective course last year at university and we had a similar point to discuss: Brain death and pregnancy. Is the right of a dignified death (meaning shutting down all machines that keep the patient alive) more important than the right to live (for the embryo inside a brain dead pregnant patient)? All of the girls in our course said that they would want to be kept on the machines until they could deliver the baby (cesarian of course). And I think it is similar with abortion. The right do make your own decisions don't go as far as reject another individual's right to live (even if that individual is not actually born yet). So people should start having sex when they can somehow manage what could follow from that sexual relationship. So if you can't handle being a father or a mother at 15, don't have sex. You know you could get pregnant or get a girl pregnant. I think most people start getting aware of that matter with 16, 17 or 18. And like I stated at the beginning, there are other ways than abortion. Abortion makes a woman's life easier because she doesn't have to carry the baby for nine months. And just because of convienience, you can't kill something that'll turn out to be a human being. I personally will never conduct an abortion. Luckily most hospitals leave it up to the doctors to decide if they feel like they want to do abortions. But if u know how abortion exactly works, you wouldn't want to ever do that yourself (besides chemical abortion in the first weeks of pregnancy, that's not too disgusting but still ethically and morally wrong for me).
  12. Is there any way to still get the model? That's exactly what I've been looking for so long and I kinda like it with your skin - so it'd be great if somebody could help me out :)
  13. Hey guys :) I just wanted to ask you awesome modellers out there to make a car for me. I am looking for a german ambulance first responder car like this: This is an emergency physician vehicle to transport a doctor on scene but some ambulance services use similar vehicles as first responder cars. So if somebody could make me that vehicle, I'd take care of the skin myself. That would be so awesome of you guys ;) Crickethill
  14. I prefer all blue. I've only seen all reds once and that was during my trip to NY. As a lot of people before me stated, Europe almost entirely uses all blues (also on fire or EMS vehicles). I think blue makes a lot more sense. Blue is the only color that is not present in a normal traffic environment so blue makes emergency vehicles really stick out from the rest. Also: European history explains the use of all blues. Blue is the only color with a wavelength that doesn't reach higher altitudes. So during WW2 it made sense to equip emergency vehicles with all blues to hide them from enemy bombers. I personally thing blue just looks better and gives better visibility because it isn't used anywhere else. So even if red might be better during the day, u still can clearly identify emergency vehicles because they're the only ones with blue lights.
  15. Of course you're right there - demanding demilitarization and at the same time opposing stricter gun control laws is hypocritical. But what I really meant was even little police stations with extremely low crime rates in some rural area who buy armored cars and automatic rifles. I understand why police in big cities needs some bigger weapons but that - I don't understand. And of course there are shootouts with military grade weapons - but that's what SWAT is for. If the normal police can't handle a callout they gotta call in the heavily armed backup. An example: Lower-Austria, Austria, 2013 - A man escapes the police when they wanted to arrest him for several reasons. He then flees back to his home, shooting 2 police officers dead on his way there with an STG 77 (Austrian military rifle). When he arrives at his home (farm house) he shoots one more officer and one paramedic driving on scene with his SSG 69 (austrian sniper rifle). While he wasn't even legally allowed to own these weapons, he owned them and he killed police officers and one paramedic. Still: COBRA (austrian SWAT) was called on scene to assist - they sieged the farm house until they decided to go in - they found him dead in a huge arsenal of weapons (suicide). We also have these examples over here - still our police doesn't get any more than a Glock 17 - because if they need heavier weapons they call COBRA. Same goes for switzerland and they've got lower gun control laws than austria (basically every swiss man who was in the military takes his weapon home with him). So they don't need that huge arsenal of weapons either.
  16. Well if I look at the riots in Ferguson and the force the police use I'd say that is pretty close to the military. Also because the police are using old military weapons. And I highly critizise use of such weapons. Nobody there needs automatic rifles to controll a crowd. When the military takes over police duties you cross a line. You ignore the separation of powers. Using the military against your own people is a typical sign of a police/military state. Look at all the countries in the world who use their military or highly armed police forces to suppress their people - every military junta in the world does exactly that. From Egypt to Myanmar to China. We are lucky to live in a place where we have democracy, where neither the people of a country nor the government must be afraid of each other. To be absolutely direct: I think it is absolutely STUPID to even wish that the military would handle such conflicts. Some demonstrations are not only legal but also necessary to make something important happen - if you deploy the military you would cut freedom of speech because people have to be afraid to be shot. You see all the crises in the world - everywhere where the military takes over policing duties freedom "dies" (a little pathetic, I know). In Ukraine, people protested against their corrupt regime - had they deployed the military the situation would have gotten out of control, and I personally don't want another huge war in Europe. Also the US really need to reduce their arms build-up for the police. You're slowly turning into an orwellian nightmare. Paranoia since 9/11 has gotten the better of the US' governments and they definitely need to go back a bit.
  17. Freelancer - all the way. Best. Space. Game. Ever. I play through Freelancer about twice every year - so I must have finished it about 20 times. And even when you've finished the storyline there's so much to explore. Oh how I love that game. I hope Chris Roberts delivers something similar in epicness with Star Citizen ... Freelancer's heir. Caesar III, Pharaoh, Zeus - Sierra's legendary strategy games. Although I still love playing them today and I see nothing wrong in these games' graphics, I'd love to see a reboot and what they'd make of it. and of course: SWAT series - I haven't played any other SWAT game than SWAT 4, but damn ... I love that one. I remember being at a friends LAN party and beating the game after like 5 hours together. Then we played Battlefield 1942. Still: When friends come over to my place with their laptops we occasionally start playing SWAT 4.
  18. That's not correct. A lot of jewish settlers emmigrated to where Israel is now back in 1914 and bought land from the arab owners. More and more jewish settlers followed and legally bought the land there. Nobody thought that they could build something in the desert - yet Tel Aviv became the biggest city there. If you want to go back to the beginnings: The Jews (2000 B.C.) have lived there before islam even came into existence (600 A.C.). So when muslim countries claim Israel's land their land they make the mistake of believing that the jews haven't lived there before them. So the League of Nations' (before UN) decision made a lot of sense back then. Iraq and Iran were under british and french rule and a lot of jewish settlers had already bought a lot of land there and built Tel Aviv. So after WW2, when a lot of Jews were looking for a new place to live after the cruels of the Third Reich, the play where Israel is now made perfect sense. Another argument we often hear is that Jerusalem is one of the holiest places for muslims. Well it is too forJews AND for Christians, still we - christians - are not all about "give us back Bethlehem and Nazareth" - we can deal with it. But apart from history: In the last Israel-Gaza-War, Hamas attacked and launched missiles AFTER the israeli government stopped the settlement initiatives. Again this time: In a time of relative "peace" Hamas just kidnapped israeli teenagers and killed them. Israel, as a nation, has the duty to protect its citizens. Now who has the most interests in keeping this war alive? Hamas. If this war ended, Hamas would loose its power and that is exactly what they can't afford. So while Israel would theoretically want peace in Gaza, Hamas doesn't want peace - without war, Hamas is nothing. Also: Hamas' claims are absolutely inacceptable. They always ask for the stop of the settlement initiative and after israel acctepts they start firing again. Also: demanding a part of Jerusalem for the palestinian people is inacceptable. Dividing Jerusalem like Berlin would be the worst thing that could happen to the city (fun fact: Nazareth and Bethlehem would be in a 'palestinian state' - still: doesn't matter for me). And I don't have a very high opinion of people who celebrated when the towers collapsed (9/11) or when the London Metro got bombed. So to sum it up: Hamas fights dirty - they use civilians as shields, they have their bases of operation on hospitals or schools - israel has to take the shot though. Hamas has no interest in peace - that would destroy their organization. And jewish settlers have been longer there than most of us know - since 1914 in fact. I still admit that the casualties are not proportional - israel has far better weapons. But I unfortunately don't know of any other solution until the people in Gaza realize that Hamas is their true enemy and kick them out of their civilian buildings.
  19. This is a matter of global responsibility. The world just can't look away when there's a massive genocide coming. I personally would prefer the UN or the NATO to get involved but unfortunately we've got more than just the "Islamic State". In Europe the whole Ukraine crisis makes it difficult to have Russia involved in a possible UN mission to secure Iraq (and Gaza - Israel asked for a UN mission). Still: I compare IS to the Nazi regime, autocratic, fascist and brutal. In Austria and Germany most of us are still happy that the US (and the UK, Canada and Russia) decided to invade Europe to defeat the Nazi regime - unfortunately too late for 55 Million people. The world forgot about their responsibilities in Ruanda - see what happened there. While war should always be the last option, I don't see any other option against IS - they're fanatics. I still don't like the optics on this though - US airstrikes coming when IS threatens Saudi Arabia (who financed the group originally). Seems a lot like when Saddam was invading Kuwait. And while I don't like a lot of the things the US did in the last 4 years or so, I do like the decision to finally get involved and stop the crisis in Iraq. Nobody in North America or Europe could want the whole middle east to become an islamic state.
  20. You're damn right - everybody should play that game! And I love how happy Jebediah is when flying the Jet plane ... classic Jeb, gotta love that guy.
  21. Like unr3al said, the performance won't be good with the hardware you're planning to have. GTA IV is poorly optimized for AMD hardware, I am lucky to have some nice hardware that this doesn't matter. You can get the newest graphics card generation for about 250$ - I can absolutely recommend the AMD Radeon R9 280X, not too expensive and a beast. Also, i5 processors aren't that expensive anymore, for about 800$, I'm sure you could get a monster PC, I just don't know how much money you want to spend. Although a lot of sources say otherwise I get a performance boost from 0.163 ENBs and a performance drop from 0.82 ENBs, since I use Marc Fabriciuz' CryENB V1/V2 I got a boost of about 5-7 FPS - and I have no clue why. You have to find an ENB that is optimized for your hardware I guess.
  22. Germany and Argentina play each other again in September - I feel like Argentina is burning for revenge. They can't take home the trophy, but they'll still try to show that they can defeat Germany. I'm curious how the German National Team will play without Philipp Lahm. PS: I ordered my Germany-World-Cup-Jerseys today - 4th star! :)
  23. Hey, would you mind explaining that in detail? Like how exactly do you do that - because I want to make some reflective textures as well but I am not that experienced in making textures. So your help on that topic would be greatly appreciated! :)
  25. Thanks for your help - unfortunately that's exactly what I always do to bring up the taser, and if holstered it should show up on my officer (set "show taser holstered" to on). So it just doesn't want to work, I tried to do exactly what you wrote but still ... no success ... and I start to get tired of shooting people who resist arrest :D
