2014 Fifa World Cup(late)
Crickethill replied to Oatmeal's topic in General & Miscellaneous Discussion
Germany all the way! They totally deserve the title after 3rd place in South Africa 2010, 3rd Place in Germany 2006 and 2nd place in the 2008 European Championships in Austria and Switzerland and 3rd place in the 2012 European Championships in Poland and the Ukraine. I really hope they get the job done this time. And as an Austrian I'll probably get beaten up for cheering for Germany - some sort of hate-love relationship between our countries :D -
I even reinstalled GTA IV and LCPDFR and all the mods I have installed (none of which seem to conflict in any way with LCPDFR 1.0c) - still: The taser won't work. I am somewhat happy to see that I'm not the only one having issues with the taser - hopefully some of you guys can help us out!
-
Hey guys, for some strange reasons it seems like the taser is not working when I play LCPDFR. Whenever I hit T or Alt-T nothing happens. I have already un- und reinstalled LCPDFR, automatically and manually, I have checked the files (/pc/lcpdfr), I have replaced the files in "/common/data" (I tried to replace them with the ones provided in the "how to make the taser work" guide and also added the lines needed manually) - still no success. So now I need your help - the taser seems to be an essential part of LCPDFR and I hope you guys can help me to finally get it to work :)

New EMS Mod by Mordecki Trailer 3
Crickethill replied to JIverson's topic in Script Modifications Showroom
Mordecki will release the mod when he's comfortable with it. In the last month we made some huge improvements and overhauled the treatment system. Actually the progress status on the website isn't up-to-date because improving the treatment system is what we're doing right now. I know you guys are waiting for it for a pretty long time already, but the mod has changed quite a bit since it first started and I think we're really, really close to finally bringing it to you - just a little more patience! ;) -
I understand that there are major differences between police work in the US and - for example - in Austria. But over here, that would be the worst outcome you could imagine. Especially in Vienna, standard police officers would have called backup (WEGA or COBRA). They wear heavy armor and are trained in close combat situations, seo they would have approached him and disarmed him without a shot fired. If you join the police, you know that you'll probably put yourself in danger's way and you have to handle the situation as well as you're trained to. If you're not trained to unarm a suspect with a knife, you call backup, you call the guys who are trained to handle that without the use of lethal force. About 2 shots are fired by the police in the whole of Austria in a year. I really don't like judging police work, but I think it is sad to see that, because of bad training perhaps, someone had to die who definitely wouldn't have died here.

Your all time 5 favorite movies
Crickethill replied to Shekure's topic in General & Miscellaneous Discussion
5. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith 4. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3. Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi 2. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope 1. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back Yeah, big Star Wars fan. Watched Episode V in the 90s when I was about 5 years old, nobody spoiled me the twist back then. Best. Movies. Ever. But if the whole Star Wars Series counts as one I would add movies like "Saving Private Ryan", "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy, "Batman Begins" and "V for Vendetta" to the list. After that probably every movie with some psychiatric stuff in it, "12 Monkeys", "A Beautiful Mind", ... -
EMS MOD treatment system

We will definitely expand the variety of callouts over time but some of the things you mentionned are already planned. Hypoglycemia is very likely to be included into the possible diagnoses of an unconscious person. -
EMS MOD treatment system
Crickethill replied to Crickethill's topic in Script Modifications Showroom
Yeah, for the advanced version there would definitely a guide how to treat patients properly. Thanks for the feedback ;) -
Hey there guys, Mordecki and I recently discussed the future of our treatment system. While Mordecki is currently working hard on finishing the first-beta-release version of EMS MOD we want to figure out in which direction we'll be going with the treatment system for the finished mod. So we decided to ask you guys how familiar you are with certain medical terms and treatment methods and how detailed you want it to be. So during evaluating and diagnosing the patient you will come upon certain terms, and we wanted to know how familiar you are with these terms. Now here are a few examples and I hope you can help us out by telling us if you know these terms or if you'd like to see them changed: Myocardial infarction Transient ischemic attack Arrhythmia Thorax/abdomen Atrial fibrillation Ventricular fibrillation Asystoly Cardiogenic shock Angina pectoris RR ("Riva rocci" - short for blood pressure) ... These are some of the terms that are very common in medicine and ambulance cervices and while we want to make EMS MOD as realistic as possible, we also want to keep it easy. So should we stay with these terms or should we change terms like "myocardial infarction" to "heart attack" and "asystoly" to "flatline"? Please consider that maybe not all of the changes requested will be in the first beta-release but we're already planning on the future of EMS MOD and we'd like to include you to help us and tell us how you want the mod to be. So for the future we want to ask you how complicated and detailed the treatment system should be: So should we keep it simple? Example: You are called to a patient with chest pain spreading to his left shoulder. The patient is complaining about breathing difficulties. Now you will check the patient's pulse, blood pressure and write an ECG. After you did that you will get a diagnose for the patient. Let's say the patient has a heart attack - a window will come up with the treatment: You can give O2 to the patient. You'll then get the patient into the ambulance and drive him/her to the hospital. For some callouts you'll also be able to decide if you want to perform all the possible evaluations (like Pulse, RR) or continue with the treatment immediately (like for cardiac arrests where you have to check the breathing to see if the patient is in cardiac arrest or not - if he is you can then immediately start treating the patient to not lose any more time). Pros/Cons: This way the treatment system would be easily accessible for anyone without a lot of medical knowledge because the mod guides you and tells you a lot of what you have to do next. On the other hand the system isn't too detailed and you won't have too many options. Or should we make it more advanced? Example: You're called to a patient with chest pain spreading to his/her left shoulder (again). The patient is complaining about breathing difficulties (again). You can (again) check the patient's pulse, RR and write an ECG. The ECG tells you that the patient is suffering from a heart attack right now (again). But here come the changes: You'll have multiple options at this point. You can give O2 to the patient, you can give nitroglycerine to the patient (commonly used as capsules or spray), ... For treating the patient with the correct methods you will increase the patient's health status, treating him/her with the wrong methods will result in a lower health status. Pros/Cons: The treatment system would be a lot more realistic as there would be all of the possible treatment methods that are used in real life. You have to chose whether you want to get the patient to hospital as quickly as possible (with the risk of the patient collapsing due to conditions you didn't check) or stabilize the patient and get him/her to hospital then. On the other hand it would be a lot more complicated and people who don't happen to be paramedics or doctors or nurses have to learn the correct use of drugs and treatment methods on certain patient conditions (like Nitroglycerine for high blood pressure or Diazepam for status epilepticus or Narcant/Naloxone for heroine overdoses). Of course all the correct treatment options would be listed on www.ems-mod.com but the system would need you to carefully read these guides to properly treat the patient. I hope you can help us out a little bit and tell us how you want the treatment system to be in future versions of EMS MOD. Crickethill Medical assistant for Mordecki's EMS MOD

You know, LCPD:FR uses GTA IV's driving and paramedic AI - so I guess it could be hard to fix. Yet policehelper paramedics work a lot better for me, unfortunately since LCPDFR 1.0 policehelper crashes every now and then. So basically there already is a fix if you're using policehelper, but other than that, yeah I'd love to see Sam and the crew fix what should have been fixed by Rockstar in the first place.

Happy Birthday Ineseri!
Crickethill replied to Carrythxd's topic in General & Miscellaneous Discussion
Happy birthday to both of you guys, go partying and have a nice night out (at least that's what I suggest everyone on their birthdays)! -
SgtMckinson I think you're on lost ground here because not only the US but almost the whole of Europe was involved too in "invading" your country back then in form of NATO forces. While you can say that not all of the US' "invasions" have been right in history the one back in '99 with the NATO was absolutely correct. Still now Europe is hunting those responsible for the crimes commited in the Yugoslav wars. So while there was provocations from the Kosovo's side too, Serbia way overreacted with brutal force and had to be stopped, not only because the world learned what they could be capable of just 4 years earlier. And saying there wasn't any genocide is almost as stupid as saying there was no holocaust in WW2. So you really shouldn't blame the NATO for entering the conflict. Due to war's nature, a conflict is always awful and full of horrors and maybe traumatizing, but the historical facts show that after Srebrenica '95 Serbia was very well capable of commiting such a crime again.

Graphics card/More Memory recommendations
Crickethill replied to RDWAIFU's topic in Computers, Technology & Gaming
Get a Radeon R9 280X, that thing is a beast ;) But it seems to me like your processor is more of a problen than your graphics card, I have the same problem. I recently upgraded my graphics card to a R9 280X (luckily not for GTA IV) and it had absolutely 0 impact on my GTA's performance. If you're willing to change your processor I would also suggest an Intel CPU, i5 4570K has the best performance/price ratio. Other than that your PC seems fine to me -
Yes because there are a lot of newer studies on the subject of marijuana now so the old studies aren't on a modern scientific standard anymore conducted with old methods. Or course not all old studies are wrong, but newer studies are more valid. I did already post my opinion multiple times, the problem is you always told me it was BS and contained "wrong facts" and "misinformation". Now again for you: I think marijuana isn't more dangerous than cigarettes or alcohol, but we do already have 2 legal drugs in our society and there are always people who abuse these substances and if we legalize a third drug there will be even more people who abuse these substances. PS: Nice that u tell me to PM you, because I did that in the first place, yet you insulted me publicly - so nice of you
-
You realize that all the "studies" you posted are really old? Like from '85 or '92? You just don't understand the medical background of these studies, misinterpretate them and make it appear as hard facts. That's not true. -snip- Just because they're uncomfortable for you they aren't wrong. And more people die from aspirine worldwide than from marijuana - still marijuana is more dangerous than aspirine. You rip these facts out of their context, misinterpretate them (like I said earlier) and try to convince people with it. That is just populism but no scientific debate. I even tried to explain to you WHY exactly marijuana is more dangerous than caffeine (I never said it is more dangerous than alcohol though, my reason for not legalizing marijuana is based on another fact) and you come up with some studies you again don't understand.
-
That is not completely true. Medical illness is a very difficult topic to discuss because the matter itself isn't researched very well, we don't know exactly what causes schizophrenia or bipolar disorders or other psychiatric illnesses. Now it is true that people who are genetically predispositioned to get addicted easier will be more likely to get addicted to certain drugs like alcohol or marijuana. Addiction is a psychiatric illness, so that's why your statement is true. BUT marijuana is also known to trigger mental disorders if the patient has genetic predispositions for that. Psychiatrists and neurologists believe that about 1/3 of the reasons of getting a mental disorder are genetics, so you might have a 33.3% probability of getting (for example) bipolar. Now marijuana (and all its effects on our brain's chemical balance) is known (long term studies) to raise the probability of developing that mental disorder. So while you have 33.3% probability of getting bipolar without marijuana, the drug raises that probability to let's say 60-70%. So you won't become bipolar just from smoking marijuana (except you're smoking it as a child), but few of us know what their genetic predispositions are. So if you have family members with depression or bipolar disorders or schizophrenia you should stay away from marijuana. Now WSPChiefReefer: Yes you did ignore these effects because you told me what I was saying is misinformation and I couldn't bring up any studies on that, check your earlier posts please. And you ignore the difference between physiological and psychological addiction. While it is true that one can become addicted to caffeine, that is a psychological addiction out of a regular habit. When you're drinking five cups of coffee a day it certainly can be an addiction but not because the caffeine is somehow binding to certain substances in your body. That's different with nicotine and THC or heroine. In our brain and our nerve cells we have different types of synapses and receptors, we're talking about chemical synapses here. Certain substances bind to the receptors to tell the nerve to emit a signal, these are neurotransmitters like Dopamine (D1 and D2 receptors with our substancia nigra pars compacta for basal ganglia - see correlation with Parkinson's disease or Hemiballismus). So substances like THC or nicotine can block some of these receptors and condition them. So these receptors need the substance to work - that is physiological addiction and that is why you'll experience withdrawal when you stop using the substance. Heroine is a lot more dangerous because the receptors/synapses it affects are affiliated with the breathing system, so if all the receptors are blocked (OD) the patient stops breathing and starts coding after a few minutes. Now like I said earlier, Heroine is easy to antagonize, Naloxone counteracts the effects of the drug and releases the substance from the receptors, still the addiction is so strong that you need a replacement for it in most cases - Methadone (for heroine). Also alcohol is a psychological addiction - people drink alcohol because they want to experience the effects of it and if they have problems in their lives they want to somehow flee, alcohol helps them with it. Now if you drink a lot of alcohol you will get more resistant to it so these people will drink more and more and then alcohol starts to change your body's physiology. It still doesn't act as a neurotransmitter but you will experience withdrawal nonetheless. A lot of alcoholics develop epilepsy as a form of withdrawal (again see brain's chemical balance - alcohol can cross the blood-brain-barrier and affect the cerebellum). So yes, alcohol and cigarettes have more addictive potential than marijuana, but only cigarettes can make you physiologically addicted, the same goes for marijuana. Marijuana isn't highly addictive but it IS addictive and when consumed regularily your body will recognize it and you WILL get addicted. So yes, caffeine is better than marijuana, it is not a hallucinogenic nor psychoactive nor psychotropic substance, it makes you feel awake, can raise your pulse but it has no addictive substances nor does it change the brain's chemical balance. Yes you can get addicted to caffeine but that isn't an addiction like marijuana. I've seen people get "addicted" to energy drinks, they passed out because their body couldn't handle the pulse and the RR anymore, but they could easily stop to drink it without any signs of withdrawal - that's different with drugs - that's why they're called drugs.

New EMS Mod by Mordecki Trailer 3
Crickethill replied to JIverson's topic in Script Modifications Showroom
We actually finished our treatment system yesterday so expect to see the progress bar on the website reach 100% ;) I hope you understand that we have to go through a lot of closed beta testing before Mordecki is confident to release his beta build to the public. In the last weeks we've made huge steps towards that goal and I am really happy to say that the diagnosing system is really elaborate and accurate to real life methods. I won't spoil anything more but stay tuned and you will be impressed from what you'll see I think -
Oh boy ... caffeine DOES NOT affect the brain in a PSYCHOACTIVE way. You won't hallicinate nor will you get high from caffeine! If you don't even understand in the slightest way what I am saying you tell me you read all these articles? Are you so afraid that medical professionals tell you that marijuana indeed HAS negative effects on your body? From a psychiatric point of view you are clearly aggressive, absolutely defending your drug like most addicts would do and ignoring the harmful sides of it, you admit to daily consume of marijuana for 3 years. You really appear like most addicts I've seen in hospitals. Only that heroine addicts know that they're dealing with a dangerous substance. You know, most studies say that the consumation of marijuana isn't dangerous if it's taken irregularily like twice a month or so. But these very same studies also say that regular consumation of marijuana definitely affects your brain and your personality as well as your lung (smoking) and your brain (chemical balance). The most important studies are long term studies because these really show the effects of marijuana on addicts and if it is true what you're saying, then we clearly deal with addiction and you will experience withdrawal if you try to stop smoking it. I did argue with you in a positive way while you were insulting me. I am a medical student and I have discussed this topic with friends of mine who consume marijuana from time to time and they are able to admit that there are negative effects but nontheless they want to experience the high. That's okay for me. People drink alcohol and know that if the drink too much they won't feel good the next day. But ignoring these negative effects and praising your drug are typical symptoms of addicts. And only because you don't understand what I am saying that doesn't mean I'm no medical student. Once again: Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome is a known medical condition caused by an overdose of marijuana, smoking marijuana harms the lungs when consumed regularily, like cigarettes do (makes sense, smoke is bad for your lungs, right?), marijuana is known to trigger mental disorder when genetic dispositions are present as well as causing mental disorders or addiction when consumed on a regular basis (makes also sense, THC is a psychotropic substance, like nicotine it binds to certain receptors in the brain. True, nicotine is more addictive, but still acclimatization of the synapses leads to addiction). Marijuana can not heal cancer, it can only act inhibitory on the growth of certain tumors I do not say everybody who smokes marijuana will become a crazy lunatic with lung problems, it is more likely that he/she won't, but like with alcohol or cigarettes there will always be people who consume too much of their drug so they will experience these dangerous illnesses.
-
And again you misinterpretate things. First of all: Of course all these things can happen to you, but it is not very likely. I think most of us have had too much alcohol at least once in their lifes. We know alcohol can cause vomiting ;) BUT most of us drink alcohol from time to time and none of us will develop diseases like cirrhosis or hepatitis. These are illnesses heavily addicted alcoholics have to deal with. The things you stated are like the side-effects on a package insert. Very unlikely to happen. Yes, alcohol can be very dangerous. If you drink too much you might pass out and die from your own vomit. But like I said: That doesn't happen to most of us. Cases in hospital with alcohol induced cancer or cardiomyopathy or arrhythmia are so incredibly rare that it is safe to say it almost never happens. To say caffeine is more dangerous than marijuana is just plain stupid. Of course it raises your heartbeat! But unless you have serious medical conditions it is safe to drink coffee. Marijuana is a psychotropic, psychoactive substance - it affects the brain, caffeine does not do that. And if you knew what you were googling you knew that caffeine can be used to calm down agitated Alzheimer's (dementia) patients. The things I and others stated with marijuana are common things that happen in most cases of marijuana addiction - what you wrote about alcohol and caffeine is certainly true but incredibly unlikely, you just state populist information without further explanation what exactly that says.
-
I don't spread misinformation. What is being taught at university is the modern standard of science on the concerning things, everything that is being taught is based on scientific papers and studies. What I said is 100% true, I edited my post and provided articles because you asked for it. You spread misinformation by ignoring the sideeffects of marijuana. You say you read all those articles yet you didn't understand what they said it seems. You said you are no doctor but you read a lot of studies published by renowned doctors. Now if you are no medical professional you understand about 5% of what is written in these articles. Maybe you are a chemist so you might actually understand it. But I know what I am talking about. You stand up and make a lot of noise for your cause but all you do is being polemic and aggressive. So don't tell me I am spreading misinformation. Ignoring facts like inhaling smoke causes harm to the lungs or cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome - that's misinformation. Like I said earlier: It seems like you haven't read your own articles carefully enough or didn't understand it. That is exactly what I wrote in the first place. Also cannabis can trigger mental disorders if you have a genetic predisposition. Read the article completely and carefully. It seems to me like you didn't even bother reading what I wrote in my first post or didn't understand a thing.
