ELS has no bloom

Recommended Posts

Ok so after two days messing with settings and different ENB'S, I've decided to ask for help, My ELS has absolutely no bloom, I've installed 2 different ENB'S which work well, but still no lightbar bloom, I've tried almost every setting in ELS and the enb but still no bloom, plenty of environmental flashing but absolutely no bloom effects, the coronas work with the enb, but no primary or secondary bloom. Any ideas?

Here's some more info on my setup. PC: Alienware 17

OS: Windows 8.1

RAM: 16 GB's

CPU: Intel core i7-4710MQ @2.5GHz

GPU: AMD R9 M290x with 4GB

I use a steam copy of gta EFLC that I keep on a flash drive for easy reinstall when I screw it up, I use a commandline made for very powerful computers which allows me to run it all maxed, I currently shut off all my maxed settings since I installed an ENB, and of course, I run the latest lcpdfr. Any other questions just post them.

Are you saying it's looking like this?

If that's your problem, crank up your car.defaultlight.emissive.on value found in your .../common/data/visualsettings.dat file.

Edit: Be careful not to go overboard, or it'll look unrealistic and dim the screen as you look at it if it's a white light:

No I mean my ELS lights look great but have no shine around the edges.

Holy crap,  is that what happens when you go OVER 9000?   Serious I have never seen it like that.  Giant bluish/reddish marshmallows... or pillows.... i don't even.

Funny though!  :D

I haven't had the best of luck with ENBs.  But would like to help if I can.

Can you attach an image highlighting what you have issues with.  It will at least make it easier for users who do modify ENBs to point out ideas or possible settings to you.

My issue is the edges of the lights have no glow, the ELS textures look great and are bright and all, but I just can't seem to get any edge bloom.

I want my lights to have that glow like in your picture, imagine your profile picture with no glow and that's what mine look like.

Which ENB are you using?  Because it could be a simple setting/value you need to change.

Just got back from work and super tired,  but I'm sure I don't see one mentioned in any of your posts.

It can be more complicated than that,  but you might as well post your visualsettings.dat from EvilJackCarter's post above .

This is the default settings with ELS below. (I have to crank that value up to 600 with an ENB installed.  Different ENBs affect the game different as some brighten and some will darken effects in your game.)

I use game4videos ENB since it only alters the default graphics a bit which I like, I'll try adjusting those settings and see because I did have a tiny amount of glow yesterday, but wasn't adjusting the visualsettings. ..It was late. I'll try it

Whenever I adjust a setting it seems like nothing happens.

I was hoping this would be a slam dunk because game4video is the only one I can get to work on my GTA IV.

But here is one more thing,  I only use GTA IV and not expansions.  I think that may be throwing us for a loop.  I checked some old posts and it looks plausible.

I don't exactly know what the expansion folders are.   But try finding and changing all of the visualsettings.dat.

So folder for  EFLC, TBOGT, TLAD.  -Look for the - Common/Data/  folders in each and change the visualsettings.dat for ALL of them as well.

If you only have the EFLC Folder,  then great you only need to do this once.  But others have suggested to update all the folders if you have them.

As I posted before,  when I install Game4video I only need to change one setting inside the (.dat) file to get it looking better.  I have posted a pic on how it looks at 600.

# Other emissive lights
car.defaultlight.emissive.on 600
car.defaultlight.emissive.off 0.05
car.brakelight.emissive.on 15
car.brakelight.emissive.off 0.05
car.middlebrakelight.emissive.on 15

car.reversinglight.emissive.on 10
car.reversinglight.emissive.off 0.1
car.extralight.emissive.on 12
car.extralight.emissive.off 0.05

I'm using identical settings and mine looks like this..

I am curious,   how many visualsettings.dat did you find.  Did you have 2-3 of them to change?

Need someone else to answer if the timecyc files could possibly cause those issues.  Maybe one of the ENBs replaced some of those files and you weren't aware.

From your first post about testing ENBs,  did you play around with just default ELS before installing the ENBs.  And how did that look?

If I think of anything else,  I'll post back here.  I am exiting this thread because all I have left to say is nuke it all and start over.  (even though I have a feeling that it is something simple being overlooked.)

Hopefully someone else has some ideas and you won't have to reinstall.

(if you do I suggest backing up your current GTAIV and just rename it to GTAIVtemp.  Just keep it around to test and copy over a fresh GTAIV to start with just the basics.)

Good Luck.

Well I noticed tonight that during night I had a thin bloom on my lights, also it works perfect in Tlad looks just like gta iv, and the visualsettings work fine in Tlad, but lcpdfr crashes in Tlad.

There are three visualsettings.dats and three timecycs in EFLC'S directory, very poorly designed in my opinion, but I've found out you only need to have the timecycs in all three folders and visual settings in one, but that didn't work either, I tried editing the timecycs, enb, clean eflc visualsettings.dats, literally everything I can think off, but I am making progress finally.

And don't worry I have a clean and modded eflc, including multiple clean backups on a flash drive, I made a custom quick install fully modified with lcpdfr, els v8, car mods, handling, and sound mods, takes me 8 minutes to completely reinstall everything, so reinstall isn't a fear of mine.

I do know from many past posts about the game's stability that playing the game from the additional DLCs are a bit more stable at the start.

I didn't want to install them for space reasons in the past and have just stuck with vanilla GTA even with a new computer.

How is it working now?

(It has to be something simple because I did some testing of fresh installs and discovered a bit more...  NO .ini/value changes needed at all..  Just copy and replace,  copy and replace,  copy and replace in the right order.  The game looks good exactly like the image I posted earlier.

I did a streamlined/simple install for Vanilla GTAIV,  but there is no reason why it wouldn't work with EFLC/TLAD.  But I have no idea on how the DLC directories are structured so can't help there.)

If you are using an ENB made for Gta IV, you must make a few adjustments for it to work for EFLC. The layout for EFLC is as follows:

common>data>visualsettings.dat

pc>data>timecycle.dat+ the other timecycle.dat modifiers

I believe the issue is you are not copying the files to TBoGT Directory:

TBoGT>common>data>visualsettings.dat

TBoGT>pc>data>timecycle.dat

TLAD>pc>data>timecycle.dat  (The TLAD doesn't get the visual file, it references the one in common.)

Hopefully that will resolve your issue. Good Luck!!
