  1. @ Tom H, Taximan5, and TheNinja35 : Thank you so much guys for the good luck wishes and the encouragement! I really appreciate it and it does help me a bit. I figured there would have to be police officers somewhere my size, (probably all women, lol) but I've never seen any around here. I'd say our average officers are about 6 foot something and 200 something. Kinda big and wide dudes (no offense meant to them) @ Comm: The skillsets I have picked up are all very basic. I drive a forklift a lot in a retail outfit, unloading and loading up the big rigs that come in, stocking product and setting up backstock product on the racks again with the forklift. From there I picked up a job driving a taxi cab, but that was only temporarily for a friend and I did that and the forklift job. Now I'm back to the forklift job as the taxi driving job has fallen out. So honestly, very pedestrian work, absolutely no important or police-oriented skillsets are gained from that. @ Slimory: Well as far as my limited knowledge goes the recruitment process length and steps will vary depending on where you live. As far as I know, Oregon is the only state in the US where you must first apply, successfully complete a timed written observation and memory test, the ORPAT in 5 minutes and 30 seconds, and successfully interview and be hired for a police enforcement job BEFORE you are enrolled into an academy to learn the basic policing skills. All of Oregon's officers apparently receive training in Salem's police Academy where they complete at least a basic policing class of 640 hours. Depending on what type of law enforcement, they may receive additional courses (like if they were going to be a homicide detective, ect). And like I said, that is just Oregon. In other states, if I'm correct, you may pay and enroll yourself into an academy to learn the basics, then apply for a law enforcement job, having already attainted the required training yourself. So it really depends on where you are Slimory, and based on your forum info it looks like Canada, and for that I can't speak. I've read somewhere that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's training is BRUTAL. But I severely wish I had your build. I'd say you'd have at least a 250% better chance of graduating than me, lol.
  2. Hey guys... So as a 5' 6" 120lb male, I decided the other day to apply for a job in my local police force as an officer. I turned in my application and my next step is to appear at the local police station on the 20th and perform a timed, written exam that tests observation and memory, and if I pass that with a 70% I then get to take the ORPAT or Oregon Physical Abilities Test. If I complete the series of obstacle courses, 80lb weight push and pull and 165lb dummy drag, in 5 minutes and 30 seconds, I get to move on to an interview with the police personnel in charge of the job. If I'm successfully chosen for the one open position of Patrol Officer (fat chance!) I will then be hired at my local station and then move on to academy training in Salem. As a very physically small for my age person, I have to say I am quite nervous and I have found myself second guessing this decision, but it has always been something I wanted to try, and now finally I am going to do it. I used to just tell myself "there's no way I'd ever make it." Well now I'm about to find out for sure. Still doesn't make the nerves go away, and it will be very frustrating if I do complete both the test and the physical test, only to be skipped over in the interview. This is a big fear for me as my entire working life has been spent in non-military, very pedestrian jobs and I have absolutely no family members who have ever been in the police force. Can someone like me make it? I'd just be happy to have some feedback from you guys, good or bad, and above all honest, because really, who likes sunshine being blown up their arse when they know it isn't true. LOL. --Lee
  3. Eagerly watching this mod. Keep up the great work!
  4. Thank you very much, Tom! Umm, honestly, I don't know if I should remove the topic now, considering I never asked Ridge Runner to take stuff from his skins. I'm not a modder, so please forgive this very informal credit line, but the above work is content from Ridge Runners Oregon State Police Skin Templates and should not be added to anyone else's mods and then released without his permission. I will also be sending him a PM to notify him just in case he doesn't want that attachment up. But thank you again Tom, considering I won't be releasing this for anything I make. I'm using it for personal stuff so maybe it doesn't violate his work. I don't know the modder's rules, considering I don't make any mods so I'm just trying to give credit where it's due. I really appreciate the time and effort you took for me Tom. Also, thank you Harper for the heads up on that. I'll see if I can find some tutorials on that.
  5. You sir, are excellent! I'm using the improved default buffalo and vapid cruisers, so I don't know if it's possible to add them without changing every car in game. Anyways, I also will keep this personal use. Thanks again, PM sent.
  6. Hello gentlemen and gentlewomen. So even though I've been keeping to Liberty City Police's NYPD style in my game, who use white plates with unit numbers, I'm trying to find a license plate texture mod that would change my in-game police vehicles to have plates similar to Klamath Falls Police Department's bright yellow "publicly owned" license plates, as a callback to my home town in Oregon state. Problem is, I only want to change my police vehicles plates and not every vehicle in the game, and I don't exactly want it to have Oregon over the top, because, like I said I'm trying to keep in the Liberty City setting. Ridge Runner made excellent Oregon State Police textures which feature Alderney alternate plates, but I have no clue as to how to isolate the plates from his texture and use them on my cruisers. I also never use the State Troopers just regular LCPD officers, so I don't think State plates would fit with public city police. So, long story short, I'm requesting to any modders who know what they're doing to make some plate textures for my police cruisers that look like the below picture, just without "Oregon" over the top. Maybe instead "Liberty City" Here's the example: http://www.larryslic...000002/6543.JPG Thanks in advance guys. I don't even know if it's possible to change just certain vehicles plates or not. --Lee
  7. Thanks for watching!!!
  8. Just some highlights from a very quick test session of unregistered (free version) Bandicam I did earlier today. I'm happy to say that Bandicam recorded everything smoothly. It's a great program if anyone else is out there looking for a good desktop recorder. It's free with a limit of 10 minutes of video (which you can just splice together multiple recordings in WMM or other editors) and it's not a FPS eater. The full version removes the time limit and the watermark, and I think it could be a bit cheaper than FRAPS. Don't quote me on that one though. Anyways, enjoy my first ever recorded session of LCPDFR. I need to get better at filming! lol Now maybe if I can find and ENB or some other sort of graphics enhancer that doesn't crash my game, I may make more of these. 9. Hmm, I'll have to give that a go, Faracus! Thank you very much. I've never edited sounds at all before, so I'll definitely have to give that a shot!
  10. Unfortunately, because this is a sound mod that replaces files using programs like SparkIV or OpenIV, it doesn't install with an .ini file like a script would or something. Unless there's an .ini file within the Horns.ivaud file? I'll have to check. Thank you for the suggestion!
  11. Hey guys, So I downloaded a very nice Federal Signal SS2000 with rumbler siren mod for my game, as I'm trying to get as close to the NYPD as possible, whilst still keeping everything Liberty City, as the LCPD and Liberty City itself is modeled directly after New York City. The siren mod is outstanding, sounds perfect, however, it's a bit quiet. Of the other SS2000 siren mods I've tried, this one is the most realistic, it's just too low in volume. I was wondering if it's possible to up the volume of it a bit. Of course, I don't know how this is possible, and sadly I haven't found a way to edit the Horns.IVAUD file. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows! --Lee

  15. Hey guys...so I was messing around with my GTA IV and Spark IV and I changed my police hats, and I didn't back up the orginals, so I no longer have the default LCPD police caps that spawn with ALT+U on the MY_Cop model. Unfortunately I made the brilliant mistake of NOT BACKING UP my pedprops file, and I was really hoping someone would be able to send me the file, that way I don't have to reinstall my entire GTAIV and various other mods just to fix this. I'm not sure if I'm asking in the wrong space, if it's against rules to ask for default game files, ect, ect, but if someone would be able to help, I'd be very grateful! Thanks, --Lee
  16. Oh, okay, excellent. How I missed this one, I dunno. Thank you very much, I'll download and give it a shot. I appreciate your help, and keep the videos coming too, this one was a great montage-like video, and I had a good chuckle at the end when the perps jumped the car into the river and you cracked wise with the killing animals line. Good stuff!
  17. Great video. The ped mods you're using look like Nickie B's Peds with Vest 1.1, but it looks like you have the default police hat, whereas NickieB's Peds with Vest mod uses a baseball style cap. May I ask what mod you're using? I tried to add the default police cap to said mod, but it's spawning too low on the head and it looks strange. Don't want to hijack the thread though, video is amazing, love it, thanks for sharing!

  19. I use simple native trainer to change the player walk style to that of "move player" (IE Niko's walking style) and as we all know, Niko is a sprinter! Seems as if I charge down perps almost too easily now. I'll have to do some searching to find a reasonable running speed. Braveheart, this script mod is looking more and more incredible! All of you modders keep this game and this mod so new, so fresh, and interesting it's like a new game each time I check these forums. Thank you!
  20. Untitled, it's just like you said. When almost everyone is in jail, you'll only get names generated of people who aren't currently being held in prison. It's not a bug, it's just we're too efficient when it comes to arresting people, LOL.
  21. I personally am not attached to any of the reports I've made. I'm certainly not writing Gold, lol, so if we can wipe everything get some spring cleaning in, and help our prosecutors get everything sorted I'm all for a wipe of the system.
  22. Amazingly great work! I'm so excited for all these new updates. Love the new license system. Thanks Braveheart!
