  1. Well he did say low poly donuts. I'd rather these than neighbog's 3 trillion poly beautiful donut that would crash games, lol.
  2. Awesome, thank you very much for the information, Sniper!
  3. Will the update to the EDGE engine be free for users of DCS World? I only have the A-10C module purchased, but since the training grounds will be a paid module, I wouldn't be surprised if the engine upgrade would require payment... Ya know what, the more I read the above sentence, the more I sound like I'm trying to be a douche. Maybe I should work on phrasing...I'm not trying to be a sarcastic jerk. I'm genuinely curious.
  4. Saw this from the last topic I posted in about report writing within LCPDFR. I can't wait for this to be released! Will it be like Braveheart's old MDC/MDT webpage were any registered user could participate, or will this be limited to clans only? I was a part of LC Police, and I was so happy to be working with them, but unfortunately my schedule never allowed me enough time online with them, so single player things really interest me, but I'd still like some sort of community interaction. Thanks in advance for any information! --Lee
  5. This reminds me of the old police MDC that used to be linked here on lcpdfr.com. The one that was run by Braveheart. I LOVED that website, as you would be able to generate random names for your suspects/victims, and could in essence build a virtual record for people that in turn, could be interacted with by other officers. I have fond memories of that, especially completeing a few warrants that other officers had issued on some really tough criminals, and for me, it added tons of immersion. They even had a feature were your suspect could walk if you didn't provide enough evidence, wrote a shoddy/unlegible report or the crimes you were trying to charge him or her with weren't reasonable, as they had prosecutors. That was some real satisfaction when your perp was given some prison time when you knew they deserved it, and it helped me to learn some important police procedures in order to have a higher chance that my arrests would turn into convictions. I really miss that old MDC website, and have been looking unsuccessfully for another like it. But, I digress, back to your suggestion, because of my past experience with the MDC they used to have, I would be 100% all for this. I love the idea, especially if it's optional. That way, players who may not want to have to deal with stuff like reports and the writing involved could easily skip over it. Good suggestion!
  6. For all the guys who are interested in the Police Quest series, you can get all four of the games for about 9.99 USD from Good Ol' Games. This site is amazing because it has a lot of old school gems that have been lost to time, and all of the games they sell have been reworked to run on modern versions of windows without any third party programs. http://www.gog.com/game/police_quest_1_2_3_4 Hope that helps!
  7. Like some people have already stated in this thread the most frustrating and terrible thing for me is when I have to call an ambulance. Those guys are just douches and if you've got an injured victim, well you may as well just have them start work on their last will if they are able to hold a pen. Why. Why did you code the AI so freakin' horribly rockstar! In this video I call for an ambulance in two situations when one was needed very badly. The only thing both EMTs had managed to do was rack up some huge property damage costs for the city. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ev01hgp0E-s&list=UUd3iaAxgd4EV-SvS-17NXVQ
  8. I know this is way off-topic and you have my apologies, but FUCKING WIN! Douche Canoe? I--I don't even know but I can't stop laughing. I am going to apply this to my everyday conversations in real life, with credit to you, of course. That's hilarious. Heh. Douche Canoe. Ahem, I digress, and once again apologize for the off-topic.
  9. They fought the law and the law won. They talk tough to cover up the embarassment of being man-handled by a cop EASILY. I have no criminal record and have no issue with cops. In fact, every cop I've ever dealt with has been, kind, courteous, respectful, and generous. These cop haters are just wastes of space and oxygen. They are pieces of shit who in no way belong on this planet. They are keyboard warriors with rapsheets, felonies, probations, and arrest records. They are angsty teenagers who find it fashionable to say "fuck pigs" in the hopes that someone will notice and find them interesting enough to talk to them about their myspace page and the "dark and deep" song they have linked on it that expresses everything about them. These cop haters are also the quietest person whenever a police officer is in their vicinity. I'd absolutely love to see them say that to a cop's face, but they won't because they're too scared. And that's why they hate the police. They're too stupid to know better.
  10. Vaping for me pertains to the electronic cigarette I use daily. I did not think you could add marijuana to the mix, not because it's impossible, but because I have never used, nor do I plan on using weed. (Don't think this makes me against or have a low opinion of those who do, just basically listing my experience with "vaping" nicotine) I use a brand of electronic cigarettes called Cig 2 O (Like H2O ) and the way to get started with those is to go into any place that sells regular smokes, and buy the "starter kit" which contains a battery a charger, and a cartridge. This kit costs 19.99 USD, and the charger hooks into any usb port, the battery screws into the charger, and a charge is obtained in about 2 hours. This battery lasts for hundreds of useages before it needs charged again. The cartridges contain a liquid nicotine/flavor solution in varying doseages of nicotine. I use the 18 milligram cartridges. Each cartridge is supposed to be the size of a pack of cigarettes, so you can assume 20 uses per cartridge (however, I've gotten more, so it's more of a baseline.) The cartridges are sold in packs of 3, and costs 9.99 USD. If you figure that each cartridge is supposed to last as long as a pack of cigarettes, that's really, really cheap, as a single pack of real smokes cost about 7.99 USD and indeed I only find myself going once every other month to buy some more cartridges. Of course, because nicotine is involved, despite electronic cigarettes claims to have only nicotine and flavoring in their solutions, you have to be 18 years old (same age is required for people to buy smokes in the U.S.) This is because nicotine is extremely addictive, and as far as any research can be done, still harmful. You have to imagine, any substance that is created by a plant to poison any possible insect or herbivore predators, would definitely be harmful. And that's exactly what nicotine is: It's a liquid substance the tobacco plant produces as an insecticide. As for the potential health and safety risks involved with using electronic cigarettes? Well the makers of the electronic cigarettes claim them to be safer than real cigarettes because they only contain nicotine and flavoring. So you're supposedly getting all the nicotine you'd get with a cigarette, but none of the tar, rat poisons, ect contained in real tobacco cigarettes. They claim this because the liquid nicotine flavor solution contacts a heating element contained in the cartridge powered by the battery when the user inhales on the electronic cigarette. This causes the nicotine solution to evaporate and produces a thick white-gray "smoke" that delivers concentrations of nicotine to the user. In reality the "smoke" is actually water mist, and that is all that is exhaled. Just water vapor and some CO2 from the user breathing out. In reality not enough testing has been done to prove the safety of electronic cigarettes versus real cigarettes. Indeed I can tell you that there is no smell when you use an electronic cigarette which is the main reason why I use one. I HATED the smell of real cigarettes. Any time I smoked one, I would have to compusively wash my hands, chew very strong mint chewing gum, and practically wanted to shower the instant I was finished every time I smoked. With electronic cigarettes the smell is non-existent, and that is great. I do not buy into the safety of them in comparison to real tobacco cigarettes. Why? As I said earlier nicotine is a natural poison. What's worse is that the FDA has no regulation over the manufacture of electronic cigarettes and the nicotine/flavor solution they provide. So God only knows what is actually going into those cartridges, since nothing has to be food-safe, pass regulations for heavy metals, ect ect, yadda yadda, because the FDA refuses to look into them talk about them, or give them their seal of approval, due to these new forms of nicotine delivery systems cutting into their profits from tobacco taxation. Anyways, long story short: Regular exposure to Nicotine alone are not known to science to be harmful, cancerous, or deadly in any way, unless you're exposed to high concentrations, in which case you can suffer from nicotine intoxication, or poisoning. I have accidentally given myself nicotine intoxication due to an electronic cigarette cartridge leaking onto my skin. Nicotine can be absorbed through the dermis very quickly. Nicotine intoxication involves dizzyness, impaired vision, heart rate and blood pressure increases followed by irregular heartbeat, nausea and vomiting. Medical intervention doesn't involve anything more than a "watch and wait" mentality, because, honestly, there is nothing they can do, unless coma or heart attack occurrs. I rode out my nicotine intoxication when I realized what had happened, and didn't seek medical assistance. I was dizzy and nauseous, but never got sick because I think I got only a small amount on my skin. This speaks for the safety of these devices. They CAN and will leak, and that is dangerous. Science doesn't know if nicotine alone is cancerous, and electronic cigarette manufacturers claim they're safer than tobacco cigarettes because there is no other additives. However, how do you find concentrations of nicotine to add to these flavor solutions? By buying vats of the stuff from tobacco cigarette manufacturers, and indeed tests have shown trace amounts of tobacco additives in electronic cigarettes. Add to this the fact that the FDA has no involvement in monitoring what goes into these flavor/nicotine solutions, and I'm sure there are some deadly poisons leeching in. There has been no long-term tests of electronic cigarette use on volunteer human groups to see their affect of the health system. If anyone will know if an electronic cigarette can kill you, I'm sure it'll be me as I have been using them for years now. I do not have breathing issues like I did when using tobacco cigarettes. But mainly, I DON'T SMELL. That is the only reason I use electronic cigarettes, and I have to say, just don't use any of the garbage because no matter what, it'll kill you. And of course, this is all based off the fact that I live in the United States, and so everything I listed applies to this country. I don't know about outside the US. Gotta be 18 to buy electronic cigarettes. And again, since you were asking mainly about vaping marijuana, I have to apologize since I have never tried it to know enough to attempt to list anything. Hopefully my novel about the vaping of nicotine will help you in your decisions not to use any of it, because once you start, it will be a bitch to stop. EDIT: More about the brand I use. I apologize to the mods if I'm not allowed to link off site. I don't consider this advertising, but I guess it could be inadvertently. http://cig2o.com/
  11. Heck yes! Seeing that picture makes me want to go and fire up LA Noire on my PS3 as well. Loved that opening, and wished I could've spent just a bit more time as a patrolman, lol.
  12. But I don't think that it will easy to make this in Gta iv. Anyways, I would love to have this feature! It would add a lot of realism! That is just plain awesome. Thanks for the pic. I haven't invested a lot of time into GTA V on my PS3 like I probably should. I really wish I knew more about modding. I'm dying to know if the technical limitations will prevent this or not. I also want to thank everyone who's interested in this for chiming in and taking the time to post. At first, I thought I was the only one, as most people I know of just use the weapons' mounted lights. At least now I know there's quite some interest for a mod like this.
  13. This would be tremendously awesome! In fact, I'm using some GTA V police cars in GTA IV right now, so porting models from 5 is obviously possible. Again, I don't know anything about modding, but cars just replace cars, so porting and adding them to IV is no problem as it would be just like any other car mod. However, My concern here, is what does GTA V categorize the flashlight under? If it has it's own category, say, for example, tools, that's great, but where would it add into GTA IV? It would probably be added as a weapon, and then we're faced with the problem of peds still responding to your harmless flashlight as if it were a pistol aimed at their face. I don't mean to sound negative, because believe me, I really want this to be possible, I'm just trying to wrap my head around the mechanics of GTA IV and how it's file system works. Sadly, I don't know enough about making mods to really attempt this, so if a skilled modder knows a way, please chime in! Oh, and of course, thanks DeputyLund for pointing out the flashlight in use by the cops in GTA V! I have never seen this, but the fact that it's there may make this a possibility! Let's keep our fingers crossed.
  14. Honestly, it wouldn't serve much of a purpose other than roleplay. The weapons mounted lights are what most people use, I think, but because I was near a group of potentially innocent civilians that just happened to be in the vicinity of an indecent exposure callout and I was too far away from my cruiser for headlights or spotlights, I imagined that would've been the perfect time to have just a regular maglite. I mean, I could've drawn my pistol and aimed it to use the light, but I dunno, just doesn't seem right. More google searching seems to confirm that no such handheld light mod exists, and the maglite I did manage to find was for San Andreas, and they just re-skinned the baseball bat. I don't know much about making models for GTA IV, but I think any modder that would try this might run into the same problem. Nothing would technically look right if they attempted to add a directional beam to a pre-existing weapon. You'd have a baseball bat sized flashlight, lol. EDIT: Ahh, see Luke posted almost similiar to my response here, and kind of affirms my fears. I wonder if there's a file to edit the "threat level" of a weapon to tone down the peds' responses to specific weapons.
  15. Hey guys. So I know there's an abundance of mods where flashlights are mounted to pistols, shotguns, rifles, ect, but what I'm looking for is a mod for a hand held civilian style flashlight, like a mag-lite or something, and not just a blunt weapon style mod, but an actual working maglite style flash light. Does one exist? I'm asking because just tonight during a single player patrol, I got a callout just off beaverhead avenue for indecent exposure. Alarmingly, the perp was supposedly exposing himself to people near a PLAYGROUND. Not good. Now, there were several groups of people in the area, and because it was a nighttime patrol, I found myself really wanting the flashlight that can be seen on the duty belt of the in-game officer to be real and functional. I mean, nothing like drawing a 9mm service pistol and aiming it at someone's face in order to use the weapon mounted flashlight, right? Lol, I think the department might get some complaints with my badge number attached. (Okay, I know there's such a thing as taking realism too far...) Anyways, point being, does anyone know of, or can make a regular hopefully functional flashlight mod? The only one's I have found have been weapons mounted. I had my hopes raised when I saw a mag-lite mod, but it turned out to a re-skinned baton, and didn't even function as a flashlight. Thanks in advance to anyone who has some insight on this.
  16. This boils down to America's horrendous excuse for a mental health system, not guns. Like Sam said, right now, in America, where guns have been legal to own since the founding of the country, we likely have more guns than people. I myself own a Walther PK .380 and a 12 gauge shotgun. I carry the Walther PK 380 daily, concealed, as I have a concealed handgun license. I have never had the urge or desire to harm someone with the guns I own. I have them because I am, in my opinion, too physically small and weak to protect my wife if someone does come into our home and want to harm us. I carry the pistol concealed for the same reason when I am with her on the streets. If someone wants to hurt and kill us, I can hopefully brandish the pistol. If they continue, I can fire the pistol in the air. If they still don't stop, I will have to shoot them, and I will have that horrible choice on my mind for the rest of my days. But I saved HER, which I couldn't normally have done. I do not want to take a life. I am blessed to not have (to my knowledge) any severe mental issues, because, as I said before, I don't actively think about, or have a desire just to shoot someone for the hell of it, like real life were just another video game. Our gun system is flawed because our mental health system is atrocious. There are no mental health checks in place for a person purchasing a weapon. I think if they were to analyze a person's mindset more effectively, they could descriminate (perhaps a bad choice of word) who should own a gun. And, also as Sam said, banning guns just keeps them out of the hands of people who follow the law. Everyone thinks that making guns completely illegal would stop the criminals from getting a hold of them. Uh, no. Think about this for a second. They are CRIMINALS. They already break the law! They will still find a use guns illegally, because that is what criminals do. Also, if you think about this for a second, banning guns would cause more crime. How? Simple. You just created an extremely lucrative black market for the importation and illegal selling of firearms. Now you have more crime, criminals are still getting firearms because they are criminals and have never had a concern to follow the law, and genuine law-abiding citizens who could use said weapons for their own protection now can't legally own a weapon, and become victims much more easily than before. I know just because I own a gun doesn't mean I'm safe. Of course not. I'm a human and I'm fallable and I'm sure someone with skill could disarm me and use my own weapon against me. But the fact is is that at least I attempted to not be a victim, and just because I own a gun doesn't mean I want to go out and murder someone. That's irrational thinking and branding and it's moronic. That's the same as saying that someone who has a beer in their fridge is a full-blown dysfunctional alcoholic, or someone who owns a car has it so they can drive up on the sidewalk and kill people. No. Beer is usually owned by alcoholics, sure. And sometimes when a deranged individual has a car they do go on rampages and run people down. But again, this boils down to the individuals mindset, and their lack of help or their lack of desire to seek help, or the health system and government's lack of interest in the warning signs.
  17. Hello guys. I'm sorry is this is in the wrong forum, but I figured posting this in general discussion might've been a problem as well. Ok, basically I downloaded F5544's Improved State Troopers ped, and I have modded it a bit for personal use. Basically I'm using them as regular police officers and not State Troopers. I've changed their vests and their badges to say Police instead of State Police. The mod also comes with some really great hats, but there's one that is completely out of place now, and that's the Campaign style hat. I'd like to be able to remove it, so that only the regular 8 point patrolman style hat will spawn. One that looks like this: Does anyone know what I can edit to fix this? The mod already contains the above style hat, but they're also spawning with campaign (AKA Smokey the Bear) style hats, and that's the one I wanna remove. Thanks in advance!
  18. Wow, these look great! I sadly haven't been able to watch any just yet, but I'm definitely interested. Thanks for posting!
  19. No need to apologize about that! Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.
  20. Thanks for posting the video! Sorry I got to it so late. I agree with you that EFLC seems much more stable with mods that default IV does, which unfortunately is all I have. Also, I'm digging NB's CVPI which always looks good. And may I ask what siren and police peds you're using?
  21. Empire, I'd love to see your videos. Please let me know if and when you get them uploaded. Sorry about the lack of commentary. I just haven't had the urge to commentate anymore. Most of what I say is just detracting from the game, in my opinion. Thank you for watching! Thanks man! I appreciate the watch. Yes! It's a pack of converted GTA 5 cars, (vapid cruiser and the new vapid interceptor) styled after the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. I feel horrible because I can't remember for the life of me who uploaded it, but I downloaded it here. The pack is outstanding and comes with some good options, but I added the Liberty City badge and tweaked a few parts of the paintjob here and there. It's not enough for me to upload it, as I'd be stealing the authors incredible work. I prefer non-els cars as they are more stable, and the author of this one did great. The warning lights and secondary lights work great, especially with the indicator and strobes mods. EDIT: Found the pack! It's author is tkdwnsehtk. Check it out, as he did an outstanding job! 22. Got another episode up! This one's a Saturday evening patrol. Saturdays are kinda crazy in Liberty. I'd hate to be the guys working the late watch if things were already heating up like this. New to this video is the beanbag shotgun I modified from the taser shotgun mod featured here in our downloads section. Most of the mods I use in my game are from here, with my own alterations, which is why I haven't uploaded them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYl7ygxSlHY
  23. That makes sense and I appreciate it. But is there a way to shut off this feature, at one's own risk? Perhaps through a code or somewhere in the config files?
  24. Loved Sam's videos. They are in my favorites on YouTube. As for this project, I'd love to follow this as it looks like it could be awesome. I may also see if I could provide voices. I wish I could be a patrolman, but my schedule is too wacky.
  25. Yes, thank you so much for testing this! I notice it also happens when you use ALT+E to update control with different situations, but only if you are on foot. So say, for example, you cleared a scene and you want to update your status to available again to return to patrol. If you press ALT+E while on foot, it resets your walk style, but if you get into a vehicle and drive a bit then press ALT+E your set walkstyle will remain. Very strange. I may also have to ask you what trainer you are using, as maybe my trainer is outdated now or something...
