  1. It's a lot simpler than you're making it out to be. "Direct3D device lost/created!" generally means alt+tabbing in and out.
  2. There might also be people who would buy it on Xbox who instead pirate it on PC. Also, it's not exactly free to port a game - if they think they'll make less revenue from a PC version than they spend in porting, testing, support, marketing, etc., then they won't port it.
  3. MODERATOR NOTICE Moved to GTA Series
  4. MODERATOR NOTICE Thread split.
  5. As was (repeatedly) stated by Break, you cannot have an "official" translation group without official endorsement. The dev team is busy working on the actual code that does stuff; translation comes later (if at all), and only comes when the devs request it. Translating a mod without actual access to the database of strings used doesn't even make sense.
  6. No, it would not. LCPDFR callouts are based on specific locations in LC, and don't work in modded areas of the map (which seems like it'd be all of it with this).
  7. CJ also said he was intentionally waiting some, because of the actions of a (now banned) mod thief who was taunting him and Kevin. ELS v7 is the *earliest* he will release it. And ELS v7 is fully backwards compatible, but there are some optimizations you might make that make a car work even better with it. While any car works as well with v7 as it did with previous versions, it also adds a few new features a model could be tweaked to support.
  8. Because hockey is cool and basketball is stupid and boring.
  9. I'd love to see some stuff from you optimized for ELS7 (not to mention if you made the config file, it'd be nice :P)
  10. As a single-player tester, I'd say that it's not just that it's more stable - it also feels much more polished. Little things, like no random lights on AI cars, and AI using a pattern you pick, and the whole concept of lighting stages and their associated sirens, and the fact that AI pull over for ELS sirens, and the fact that you can easily use the horn *while* using an ELS siren, and, yes, the general stability. Also, with backwards compatibility: In a way, it's *more* compatible with some v6 cars than v6 is; there are various things people did with ELS lights in v6 that are supported much better in v7 (like secondaries as additional lights, not just as arrowsticks). That said, there are some new features I don't think any current cars take advantage of. It can take time to set up properly - v6 and below didn't have much in the INI, this has a lot. The default settings work pretty well, though, and it's easy for car makers to include their own files for their cars (because the config per car is in separate files, so it's easy to import).
  11. From what Sam's said, it's more like EVCS-enabling it (and as soon as he releases the full format spec, I'll see if I can write a program to convert config files between the two - the features don't exactly match, but the coordinates do).
  12. v5 has halogen-type patterns, but you can't make AI use them. It also doesn't let you do takedowns and primaries at the same time.
  13. Are you going to be using the ELS v7 trick of splitting car config into separate files in their own folder?

  15. Can you post your folder layout? I think I know what it is, but it'd be easier to explain if I could see your layout.

  17. You did request it. This thread is what could fairly be described in English as a "request". Some people make a distinction between requests and suggestions; however, "request" is also a common term that would apply to any case where you're asking for someone to do something. Also, modeling can be quite difficult. EVI made a tow truck. So? How does that mean this would be easy to make?
  18. Well, say it. Don't just say you have one.
  19. Try making a path, and stroking it twice: once with the wide one, then with the narrow one. That's what I used for a similar (though less extreme) effect.

  22. Wrong, actually; this is an OK section for this thread.
  23. MODERATOR NOTICE Moved to general GTA IV support.
  24. I don't think you should be judging what someone does to mark significantly numbered posts. Nor should you be comparing your post count to others to say that their post counts aren't a big deal.
