I got GTA V on DVD and recently due to the whole malware mod situation, I formatted and reinstalled Windows. I had GTA V installed on my SSD, so it is all still there, but now when I go to run it I get errors (as expected) that certain things are missing from my computer. Is there any way to "repair" the install to fix what is missing or do I need to install clean?
  2. They could be a bit brighter, but if GTA V works like GTA IV, turning up the "bloom" effect that makes it brighter makes EVERYTHING in the game brighter, i.e. the signs on top of taxis in GTA IV. Unless any sort of ELS for GTA V could just make police lights a little brighter and have different modes without the other problems associated with it, I am perfectly fine with the stock lights by Rockstar. Rockstar gave us a lot to work with like fast-roping SWAT and spike strips, flashlights, etc. that are already in the game.
  3. Is this a result of a better mod or better game mechanics to start with?
  4. The Boston marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has received the death penalty after a unanimous verdict by a Boston jury in federal court Friday. Thoughts?
  5. Because this is really the first time malware/viruses have proliferated through GTA Modding on official sites like gta-mods. Also, when installing mods, anti-virus programs detect false-positives and people are used to ignoring the warnings, so at this point, unless the powers that be in the modding community examine new mods, I would not be comfortable installing them. This is a wake up call. I would only download mods from major, official sites that have been screened for malware. GTA5-Mods claims to be working on it.
  6. The biggest problem is it allows these people to come from where ever they were, to Sweden, and then travel much more freely throughout the world. For example, if you want to come to anywhere in Europe or the US from a suspect part of the globe, it would be much easier and would involve less scrutiny if you were coming from Sweden as opposed to Yemen or UAE, etc. A classic case is people traveling from the UK to the US--there is much less scrutiny than coming from other places (If you are a resident of the UK and have a British passport if you want to come to the US you do not even need a visa) and policies such as this one allows "the bad guys" to travel around the world much more easily.
  7. I hope this does not destroy confidence in the modding community. Now every mod people download will be questioned as to whether or not it is a virus.
  8. Thanks for the directions and all but it's not Steam..it's the disc version.
  9. Thanks..they must have added that since I last used the mod. Time to update.
  10. Hey guys any ideas for how I can improve the next one? Thanks.
  11. I wish somebody would make one. That would make it much easier.
  12. Is the goal to recreate LCPDFR piece by piece, or make the mod from the ground up with the concept of LCPDFR in mind?
  13. Yeah it's pretty much a no go. From the time you need backup to the time you get off the phone and press all the keys, it's half over, and then the cool down time is pretty bad. Someone needs to make a mod that just does whatever command occurs to make a cop car come to you, just a hotkey that does whatever happens when push police on the phone.

  15. Is there a way to move my installation of GTA V without re-installing? I installed it on my SSD but when I was doing the installation I selected the SSD and instead of making a folder for GTA V, it just installed everything in the root folder of my SSD, making a mess. I tried making a folder and putting everything in there but then when I launch GTA V it just starts downloading the game again. Thanks.
  16. Pretty good. That's about all you can do with the mods that are out now.
  17. Thanks. Do you know if it shuts you off after you call more than a couple times within a certain period of time like in GTA IV?
  18. I have seen screenshots and parts of videos where people somehow open a number pad on the phone but I cannot find it. It's not in the key bindings and I could not figure it out back on Xbox either. Do you know the PC key to open the number pad once the phone is already open?
  19. Does anyone know of a mod for GTA V that will allow me to make a police car come to my location when I need help? I am trying to piece together different mods to hold me over until LSPDFR. I know you can call the cops with the phone but if you switch models from a player to a cop, the contact list in the phone becomes empty. Thanks.
  20. Wow. This is the first time that Rockstar has "broken the fourth wall" and discussed mods and named a couple, the zombie mod and the original map mod. It's too bad they could not have named LCPDFR. The recognition would be pretty cool.
  21. What about the random events that are in the game? Could those be worked into callouts? If so, of the existing random events, there are 15-20 that would make for awesome callouts, like the gang fight at the motel, the stolen vehicles, and of course the suspects running away from the cops in the country. I think you and somebody alluded to this briefly a few pages ago, but could the "animations/scripts" for these random events with fugitives, etc. be able to be used as callouts in other parts of the map? For example, the shootout at the motel in the country, since it only occurs in one place be re-used at different locations on the map for callouts? Also, there are several missions, (not as many as in GTA IV it seems since people complained about it) where you have to chase after someone. I am not 100% sure how it works but is the AI you are chasing simply tasked with fleeing the player? If so, it always seemed to me that the chases in missions worked better than chases in LCPDFR in terms of speed, agility, etc. In LCPDFR, suspects would circle the same block a few times, crash, get stuck, etc. Chasing people in missions was typically a challenge, and many times they got away, i.e. "I Need Your Clothes, Your Boots, and Your Motorcycle" and "Wrong is Right."
  22. What I remember from LCPDFR was pulling up to some alley where 3 or 4 guys that all look alike spawned within close proximity of each other and the whole thing was over in seconds. In V, if you go to Grove Street and start popping off, 20 or so gang members all come out of the woodwork, take cover, etc. That is the kind of shootout we need in LSPDFR. Otherwise, noose vans and helicopter fast-ropers won't really work since by the time they arrive, the thing is practically over. I think LCPDFR started to work on this in the later versions, but we need to cap the amount of cars in a pursuit. Everyone remembers having 30 AI cars flying down the Broker-Dukes Expressway all slamming into each other. The point being--LCPDFR was/is a great mod for a great game, but this is a fresh start that we all waited years for. Let's learn from our mistakes and make LSPDFR even better.
  23. The noose vans with the guys hanging off is a cool feature. It is just like the fast-roping noose. The only problem is that if you played LCPDFR, you know shootouts were over within a few seconds, and by the time the noose trucks or rappeling noose helicopters would get there, if it was the same as LCPDFR, would make it kind of pointless. When you pulled up to the crime scene, a bunch of clones of the same model would all spawn on top of each other and shoot at you all with the same mp5. Would it not be much better (and rather easy for the people making LSPDFR) if when you pulled up to the scene the shootout was already in progress, and the suspects were spread around a neighborhood, all behind cover? Think about the fun you could have on Grove Street.
