Need help buying/building or upgrading a computer?
It's up to what kind of hardware you have. I tested an ENB (not necessarily the best looking one that exists) on my system with everything in GTA IV maxed out, and it runs around 40 fps or so. Sometimes over, sometimes under. It wouldn't be acceptable performance for multiplayer, nor for video recording. But otherwise it's playable. The only high polygon count cars I have loaded in are the police cars. Everything else has been left alone so far.

Menos, how did you get your game icons to be the box art? When games are installed on my PC, they use the traditional crappy, simple icons instead.

GTA IV Police Easter Egg
I fixed it by using FRAPS video recording with the best possible quality, full screen resolution (1080p), multi-channel audio. It slowed me down to about 24fps and getting into the copter worked like a charm. I then just simply shut off recording once I got in the drivers seat.

It was just a poorly coded console port, plain and simple. And it shouldn't have been this hard to run. The XBOX and XBOX 360 are both based on PC parts, so the coding for modern games is extremely similar. They didn't even add in the ability to have FSAA which is one of the main graphical advantages of PC versions of console based games. That just goes to show you how little effort Rockstar put into it. GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas never had these kind of problems. They ran fine on moderate hardware and brilliantly on good hardware. Even with high polygon count cars. Plus they never had the 'taxi glitch' error back then either.

Ugh I can't stand messy desktops. How do you sleep at night with those!? Good wallpapers, though.

Crysis 3
Yeah I never bothered with Warhead. It was just an expansion more or less. The thing about Crysis though is that the alien invasion scenario is getting a bit old. Doom Quake and Unreal kind of kicked it off, then Halo capitalized on it, and now it's just becoming redundant. Then again you could say the same thing about 'Modern Warfare' FPS games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Operation Flashpoint, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2, etc.

These were a couple of previous ones I had with Windows 7 & Vista: I prefer to keep mine minimalist in style. This is my new desktop with Windows 8, I wanted a different wallpaper than I had for my Vista and Win 7 machines.

GTA IV Police Easter Egg
Thanks Andrew. I actually played and beat GTA IV on the XBOX 360 in the year 2008 when it came out. Then after buying it for PC later in the year I beat it again. And now I'm getting through it one more time. I'm actually on the last mission right now, but it's glitching out when I get to the helicopter chase sequence. The part when you speed off of the ramp on your dirt bike to jump into Lil' Jacob's helicopter, the camera glitches every time I tap space and Niko won't get into the chopper so he falls off. I've read about it online, some say you can use FRAPS video recording to fix it (lowering the FPS to 30 or under), some say making the graphics settings as basic as possible works, some say there is no fix. I haven't tried the two solutions I found first. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Never had this problem the last time since the system I owned from 2006-2009 choked on GTA IV high settings and had a hard time on medium. FPS was low enough back then, I guess. It was also before patch 1.0.7.0, I believe.

GTA IV Police Easter Egg
I was playing through the single player campaign again (before I re-install LCPDFR on my new system) and I noticed during a cut scene with Niko and Florian (Bernie) this poster pinned up on the wall. I thought some of you might get a kick out of it. Maybe a new Easter Egg for LCPDFR, guys?

I wanted it because it had HyperThreading, more Cache and generally runs at cooler temps. The 3770K wins out in most benchmarks, specifically those that feature programs that know how to take advantage of HyperThreading. I usually spend about $300 on my CPU chips, so beyond my pricing limit; I'll make no compromises. The 660Ti is a good enough card. It's a gamer on a budget card, sort of like how the 3570K is a gamer on a budget CPU. I bought the 670 because it's about a 5% difference between itself and the 680, and a small OC will fix that. The 660Ti is more noticeable. Regarding GTA IV, I don't know how it would run in GTA IV or Battlefield 3 since I don't have one. Worse than my setup, I'm sure. I usually maintain 40-75FPS on surface streets in GTA IV, 120FPS+ indoors with everything maxed. I've dipped as low as 28FPS, it generally has to do with heavy shadow casting and bloom lighting effects. With everything maxed out the way it is, I don't think there would be room for an ENB with high framerates. It would make the game playable, but barely, and those spots that are 28FPS would probably drop to 14FPS. Battlefield 3 I already had on Ultra with my older Phenom II CPU and my 570GTX, I just had to turn FSAA down to almost nothing, generally had around 45FPS in multiplayer. This time I have it at 16X, haven't tested it beyond the first singleplayer mission.

Crysis 3
I'm going to have to disagree. Crysis always sets a new bar, and other engines out there get old fast. Especially the Call of Duty engine, but they keep that lower tech on purpose to keep frame rates high and coding for yearly releases easier. I think Crysis 2 and 3 both had good story lines, and the game's augmentations are a central part of how you play. I think they work well. I wish the hand to hand combat was a bit more interesting, but other than that the game meets all of my expectations. They even have dedicated servers for PC players.

Crysis 3
So has anyone else indulged themselves in the graphics the graphics in this game? They're mind blowing if you can crank them to 'Very High'. Hell, even if you can't. 'Medium' still looked great on my last machine, but I got a couple of screenshots (sized down for this forum) that I grabbed that stun me. Mind you this is the real deal. Not CGI cut scenes. Actual gameplay graphics. I took these at 1920X1080 resolution, full FSAA, full FSAF all 'Very High' settings, no VSync. The game itself is nice too. I loved the Deus Ex series of games, and this is the only other modern game I can think of that has human augmentation in it with on the fly switching of active augmentations, rather than passive ones that help you at all times (barring the recent Deus Ex: Human Revolution of course). I'm still working my way through it, but I love it so far.

APB: Reloaded
You know another thing about that game that was awesome; the music. I swear any major game tied to EA has phenominal music from a lot of good underground bands and a few major ones. I discovered a few metal bands that were pretty cool from them like Disown, Stardown and Dragnerve. They also had the song 'Deathbox' from 'Mnemic' which I was listening to a second ago. And the Last.FM feature was pretty cool, if you had any music going through your car stereo or one of the social districts DJ booths, similar music would play for someone who didn't have your custom tracks.

APB: Reloaded
Since I re-built my new computer, I've been transferring over some stuff from my old computer, including some APB screenshots I forgot I had from the original game. This includes but is not limited to the website going down, the patcher going down, a farewell video that was shot hours before the server went down, and my old character stats. This was the patcher going down on the final day. The game still ran for a few days after it officially went offline, so I milked it along with a couple of hundred others. This was a long range screenshot of me on top of a gas station with a bunch of other players on the last official day. I'm to the left of that red dude in the center. That was my main character, xCrossx. This was my alt, xCherryx. And this was my griefing van. My clan had a couple of other 'Free Candy' vans, some were more colorful. Felt good taking that trip down memory lane. If anyone wanted to see more, let me know, I do have another small batch screenshots of the last few days.

Need help buying/building or upgrading a computer?
Looks like I got my new PC up and running properly (typing this on it right now). I just need to stress test it to see how it handles games. I installed Unreal Tournament III on it and played a round, worked out well. I'm installing GTA IV currently, and I'll put an ENB on it with LCPDFR and try it tomorrow. I don't have time to put everything on it tonight since I have work tomorrow. I'll let you fellas know tomorrow, and look into posting some screenshots, and FPS averages I get in some games.

More Crime(Robing banks, Drugs, shoutout, and etc...)
Thing is the folks at G17 would either have to ask for the source code to use in LCPDFR or they'd have to duplicate it themselves after asking permission. And that's if they decide to do it in the near future. Right now bug fixes and polishing is a priority.

Because I don't feel like going outside to take a picture of my SUV with a camera. Google Image Search works well enough.

I wouldn't have a problem driving modern european cop cars, but I can't stand the sirens France and other European countries use.

Just saw this on the login screen. Couldn't resist...
I had an advertisement for the tape company 3M and it said "Describe this brand with any word(s)." I typed in 'sticky'.

2006 Trailblazer LT I also drove a 2012 Chevy Impala. Both have been or are used as cop cars, both admirable performers in their own right.

Next Generation Consoles, what will you choose?
I second that. PC will always be my primary gaming platform. Depending on which one has a better game library upon release, that's the one I'll get. I have a job so I'm not conerned about picking up a scratched up game disc some kid traded in just to save $10. The amount of games availible and maybe the graphics would factor into it the most. I bought the XBOX 360 because it had a much larger game library at the time, now things are more even. Before that, the PS2 had a much larger game library compared to the XBOX.
