  1. Most likely not because it's a sensitive issue to a lot of people right now, and police officers wouldn't point their cruisers directly facing a gun fight, that's just stupid. There's probably footage of the suspects truck driving away to another location but that's about it.
  2. I have 50Mbps down, 25Mbps down fiber. No noticeable improvement in gaming or game downloads (since they're metered) over my 16Mbps down 3Mbps up Comcast connection from the other year. Torrent downloads can go faster, that's about it.
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsf8LnThk5Y If you read the 'readme' file included it goes over key bindings. You might have to change them to your liking.
  4. They're both important. Ping is the time it takes for a packet of information to get sent to the server, then get a response sent back to the client. Latency is a one way measurement. In laymen terms; it's basically a way of measuring the delay time between the action you perform and what happens on screen. Bandwidth is how much throughput you have for information. As an example, the bigger the straw you drink through, the quicker you can drink your milk. There's no difference in delay time when drinking your milk depending on what straw you use. If you have a narrow straw, it's going to take you longer to drink it. If you have horrible download speed, it doesn't matter how fast the communication between server and client is; your connection won't be able to sort and distribute the packets in a timely manner when you have limited bandwidth available to you. The question here is how much bandwidth is enough. Technically for gaming, 1.5Mbps is enough, but that's going to be changing as games get more complex, and developers are expecting more and more people to have better internet connections these days. DSL can provide 1.5Mbps, but only at peak speeds. It doesn't continually run at 1.5Mbps. Netflix wants you to have about 5Mbps to buffer your movies ahead of time, thereby allowing you to stream HD content smoothly. All that being said; if you have enough money for a decent gaming computer, you probably have enough to afford a decent internet connection too.
  5. Puzzle game? I'll pass. Best of luck to the dev, though.
  6. It's a matter of opinion, I suppose. Technically DSL connections will work, which are about 1.5Mbps, but 1.5Mbps isn't the constant speed, it fluctuates. So I'd recommend a cable connection or fiber connection, which generally run at least about 4 times faster.
  7. http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=grand+theft+auto+4+change+siren+script Please do some searching yourself next time.
  8. Yeah that's what I meant with that.
  9. Cool concept, must be pretty heavy though.
  10. The problem is that most conspiracy theorists don't want to accept a single answer to a question and will continue to be suspicious even after being faced with counter arguments. There's a big website that counters that 9/11 movie "Loose Change" point by point, and that didn't do any good to stop conspiracy theorists from mouthing off. As an example, the movie points out that the steel used to build the towers have a melting point of such and such (I can't remember), but they don't take into account that steel loses half of its strength at much lower temperatures, meaning it would collapse under its own weight, plus the weight of all the other building materials, people and the air plane itself. People still debate the JFK assassination, the Pearl Harbor bombings, even the Holocaust of all things. Some people deny those events happened the way they are written, or even happened at all. I'm not about to sit here and say I think every traumatic event the U.S. has gone through has been explained 100% clearly by our government, and quite frankly I think there are some things that need to be handled quietly for the protection of the public and world peace. But to suggest that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job, or that the Russians killed the president or that Martin Luther King was killed by army snipers, or suggest that the Holocaust never happened; there's no kinder word for it than 'absurd'. There was a recent documentary that I watched a couple of times and for that matter enjoyed, called 'The World According to Dick Cheney'. It brings a lot of political events and decisions made by our government into question, and one recurring point that Mr. Cheney makes is that the common theme for the Bush/Cheney government was that they were going to make decisions that may not have been popular among the people but needed to be done to protect our country and its citizens. Some things that went into motion I disagreed with, but others that did not go into motion anger me in a way. As an example, the U.S. discovered a nuclear reactor in Pakistan (I believe) that was installed to make material for atomic bombs for North Korea. It was not being used for electricity because there were no lines connecting to anything. Cheney wanted to take it out immediately. Condoleezza Rice opted for "talks" with North Korea. And look where we are today with North Korea. The most hostile relationship we've been in with them in years, perhaps decades. He also covered Guantanamo Bay, where some bad treatment of prisoners took place. While I disagree with some alleged methods of interrogation, I don't have a problem with others, and agree that if we had the option of putting a detainment facility off of U.S. soil to avoid giving war criminals and other high priority prisoners of war some of the same rights as a U.S. citizen, I'd look into doing that too, in the interest of the safety of our country. Mind you we aren't kidnapping random people from currently neutral countries and taking them to prison to gain information about their governments. We're in combat with a hostile country that has launched dirty attacks against innocent civilians in multiple countries (even their own) based on the fact that they don't like our support of Israel or our cultural ideology and want to make a statement in the name of their religion.
  11. Actually Darkangel that video is real, but the chief of the police department that made the arrest said it was wrongful arrest they made based on it being someone who fit the description. They stripped him naked to make sure he had no bombs on him since at the time there was still an ongoing explosives hunt. But in any case, it's another citizen. They won't release who it is due to the man's constitutional right to privacy. The man would have to elect to come forward which may never happen.
  12. You mean the little bit of text? Yes, I agree. Hopefully whoever got that URL keeps it and doesn't change the content.
  13. Right you are. My point still stands, though.
  14. You don't need to do anything except stop posting because you're starting to piss me and other Massachusetts residents off. You know who thinks he's not dead? The same people who think the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings were a hoax, and his muslim family who are writing to Russian news papers that the FBI set Tamerman and his brother up and they were totally innocent and did nothing. There is no conspiracy, they were guilty and like people who don't believe the JFK or Martin Luther King assassination theories, you can't settle down and accept the truth. One answer doesn't satisfy you. As a Massachusetts resident, the very fact that you posted that makes me sick.
  15. I always wished they had done Red Dead Redemption on PC. I think more people demanded that on PC than Alan Wake (which they did long after the console release).
  16. Just a couple of quick notes (some of which I've listed a million times before, but with a topic like this need to list again): 1.) The game is WAY too late in its development cycle to "add" anything like this. It would be in or not in by now. The game was more or less finished in May, it was just delayed to add polish according to Rockstar North. 2.) I can't understate this enough; A police sim has NO major mass market appeal. People play Grand Theft Auto to break the law. They want to do things that they could only dream of getting away with in real life. It's an escape from reality. The freedom you get is the major hook for the game. It's why people play the game for months after they beat the story randomly shooting cops, stealing cars, beating up hookers and causing pile-ups on the highway. If you don't want to believe me, consider the sales figures if you want. In 2012, there were more than 25,000,000 copies of Grand Theft Auto 4 sold. The LCPDFR community is big. Really big by mod standards. Lets assume that one million copies of GTA IV were purchased on the PC for the sole purpose of playing LCPDFR (which is most certainly not going to be the case). That's a 24 to 1 ratio of people who have no interest in police work in video games vs those who do. Keep in mind that the sales figures don't take piracy into account, which further skews sales figures, as you'll note that there have been hundreds of people on this forum with jacked copies of GTA IV, and dozens of them even asked for support in making the mod work. And on top of that, the sales figures were only accurate as of 2012. It's 2013 (as if any of you haven't noticed), so I'm sure the figures have grown even more. 3.) PC gaming is not a priority for large development companies or the majority of gamers. Consoles are only getting more popular as PC gaming begins to get more exclusive rather than inclusive due to cost, difficulty in setup and learning curve or desire for modding. Plenty of people on this forum have given up trying to get LCPDFR work their way since they just can't grasp how scripts or modding tools work. Companies that sell the majority of their titles on PS3 or XBOX with proprietary hardware and operating systems also have to convert or possibly even re-code the games for the PC with a low sales count. We'd be lucky to get a PC version at all, never mind if it's modifiable. In closing I'd just like to say that I wish most of the things I listed here were not true, but I've spent a lot of time in computer and game sales in my last couple of jobs, I build PC's for fun and my own personal entertainment, I've taking both graphic design and programming courses giving me perspective on work loads and schedules developers have to adhere to, and of course ready plenty of news and interview with developers and company execs to gain insight on the industry and upcoming games. A few quick facts for today's gaming market (off the subject of GTA IV & V) are: -Gaming is becoming hugely desirable for children (pre-teens and teens being the chief demographic), and are now the major market companies are making games for. -As such, the parents normally buy the equipment and games. And most parents turned white as a sheet when I informed them that a higher end gaming PC costs about $1000 from a retail store, or maybe slightly less when built yourself. -It's easier for parents to buy $300 consoles which last 6 years with no maintenance or upgrades required. -PC gaming at a "professional" level is far more complicated for those not well educated in the use of a computer's hardware and software. -Games are designed to give you freedom and choices that reality does not, and as such, companies develop the games according to what users want, or at the very least; what sells. When you think of features you'd love in a game, before you start begging for them and wondering why they don't get included in a new game, ask yourself "Would everybody want this?" Game companies prioritize the needs of the many vs. the needs of the few.
  17. The big question would be if the mod is open source (as an example; LCPDFR is NOT). If it was, G17 Media could potentially code somewhat of a "plugin" for it that servers owners could install at their discretion.
  18. You probably won't get much more than the helicopter shots that CNN & FOX got or amateur camera-phone videos for a while. This city's seen enough blood for now.
  19. I had this game installed with said car mods on a computer with a lesser video card and a slower processor, with an ENB and didn't have this issue. I've removed the ENB and am running on a stock game aside from the cars. I'm noticing that features of LCPDFR itself are breaking during this period too, such as any backup/EMS/helicopter commands, the equip taser feature or the arrest feature. I'll try experimenting with different tester builds and see if that fixes it at all. I believe the command line I had before was helpful in terms of improving frame rate, but I didn't transfer it over to my new PC. I'm hoping someone with decent commandline experience could give me recommendations.
  20. Hate to post a second time, but it won't bump this up otherwise. Anybody know of a good working commandline to help with texture disappearance? I have 2GB of RAM and even without ENB I'm getting issues. I have POl1, POL2, NOOSE and POLPATRIOT modded, nothing else. This happens fairly frequently, especially traveling between islands.
  21. Sirens are a bit piercing/shaky
  22. Yes, and please look at the photos listed in that link of their faces if anyone recognizes them. Even if you're unsure 100%, if you think it MAY be somebody you know, call it in. We want justice, and in order to do that we need to investigate any and all strong leads ASAP. These two were seen setting backpacks down near the bomb sites before the detonations.
  23. As said above, you can do that in game with the slider control. If turning draw distance low and details down doesn't help you, it's time for a new computer.
  24. jus·tice [juhs-tis] Show IPA noun 1. the quality of being just; righteousness, equitableness, or moral rightness: to uphold the justice of acause. 2. rightfulness or lawfulness, as of a claim or title; justness of ground or reason: to complain with justice. 3. the moral principle determining just conduct. 4. conformity to this principle, as manifested in conduct; just conduct, dealing, or treatment. 5. the administering of deserved punishment or reward. -Dictionary.com Funny that the word 'law' doesn't even show up until the 2nd definition of the word. Justice to me can mean a lot of things. It could mean legal ramifications, it could mean physical or psychological vengeance, it could even be war. Trials are supposed to adhere to a very strict code, and those who violate it, be they defendants, witnesses or even lawyers are subject to punishments such as being held in contempt of course. I've been on jury duty and I can tell you the court I was in was governed far better than the Nuremberg trials. I think proper justice for Nuremberg top brass is a case by case basis. Albert Speer wasn't directly involved in mass killings and served as a witness against his co-defendants, so I think a jail term was appropriate. Others however were treated far better than they should have been, and I still stand by my feelings that anybody involved in the S.S. should have been dispensed. On a separate note though, don't swear at me, cp702. I've been respectful to everyone here. *EDIT* I noticed you or someone removed your post. I'll take that as retracting your statement.
