Question about the GTX660
Ditch what you have. Your motherboard, CPU and current GPU were top end back in 2007/2008. To give you perspective, that's when Age of Conan and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare were hot, new titles. As said by others, your other hardware is going to bottleneck your GPU, making it a waste of its potential and more importantly; your money. Also the 700 series is out now, likely with a new GeForce series on the way, since AMD released a new flagship video card.

What are your specs?
They make a six core with twelve threads but the best chip they sell is over $1000, and to be honest makes a minimal difference with today's games. 8 core AMD's sound impressive but each core is smaller, and has less processing power. So higher end quad core Intel's beat AMD octo cores in most cases.

Windows 8.1 - Anyone have it yet?
To clarify, this topic isn't about Windows 8 or how you don't like it vs. Windows 7 or XP. There's already a thread for that It's about people who have Windows 8.1 and what their experience with it was. Update: The OS hasn't given me any further troubles since I turned of the stereoscopic 3D and reset my start screen. I spoke to a friend of mine who is a Microsoft rep and he said it was because I didn't have my copy of Windows linked to a Microsoft account. If you have an MS account, it saves your settings. If you use a local account, it does not. I've also found out on my own that the support lifespan for Windows 8 is only for two more years, but 8.1 will extend far beyond that. They're going to be treating it less like a service pack and more like an actual OS, apparently. So... they're taking the course Apple's been taking for years now.

Battlefield 4 Limited Edition 360 Controller!
I got Closed Beta access, some free Battlepacks and a free Battlefield Premium subscription with all the expansions are two week head starts on them all with my pre-order on PC. My keyboard and mouse already glow and have far more buttons than a controller. Good luck on the 29th.

Rewriting the entire game.
They're extremely different, if that's what you're asking, yes. Scripts for GTA IV mostly manipulate existing code by injecting commands into live memory and are often written in a different programming language than GTA IV was.

What is the most accurate Police show no television right now?
I don't buy into that at all, dude. You can't fake pursuits on public roads, or officer involved shootings caught on dash cam, or a dying child with lungs too big for its body, etc. And most actors I know of wouldn't volunteer to be pepper sprayed or tased falling onto some parking lot pavement. A person registered on this forum who's a Sheriff's Deputy had the COPS crew ride along with him, and he said that they record things as they're supposed to, but they reverse the order of the 'personal story' clips that are shown before a callout, and the actual callouts themselves. They also obviously have to edit a lot of footage to compress things into a half hour worth of programming.

Lockdown at my school
Good for the UK. We take threats of violence in schools very seriously in the U.S. We'd like to avoid another Sandy Hook, and we just had that school shooting in Las Vegas where a teacher died, so a hard lock down and a trip to the local jail was in order for that woman.

Windows 8.1 - Anyone have it yet?
Yes, if you read it it says 'Opera' on the tile. That browser gives me the least amount of trouble of any that I use. I do find Chrome to load pages a tad faster, though.

Windows 8.1 - Anyone have it yet?
Because he's actually used it and knows how to operate a mouse and keyboard. There's almost zero difference between this and Windows 7, barring the start screen which is now optional due to the 8.1 update.

How the NYPD gets stuff done. Hilarious video.
She didn't listen to the P.A. obviously. She is a crazy person, true to her word. And that reaction from the cop is absolutely priceless. I'm starting to think the guys who did the voice overs for the LCPD officers were actually NYPD cops taken in to record lines during their lunch break.

So I found this video and photo.....
Good call. I didn't watch until the end.

What is the most accurate Police show no television right now?
COPS because it's cinema-verite. It's shot in real time and shows events as they happen. The only thing they don't record is desk work, although they do record roll call and briefings sometimes.

Can someone tell me what siren this is?

14 year old Danver High student kills teacher
Without revealing too much, I'll say the following: The murder scene is very close to where I live. That school has had over 120 cameras recently installed. The murder was supposedly conducted with a box cutter at close ranger, her body was dumped in a recycle bin and wheeled off some place to be hidden. This is all on camera. He then went to a movie theater that's built into the local Liberty Tree Mall, and then across Endicott Street to eat at Wendy's. He then was caught by police walking around Route 1 in the dark after a concerned citizen called. Route 1 is very dangerous due to there being no sidewalks, a place where people constantly speed and is not well lit. The area where he was on Route 1 was also very close to the local State Trooper barracks. I know some folks who work at the Danvers police department, and I was visiting the station that night. I inadvertently bumped into his family during the night of the murder, at the Danvers Police station some time around 7:30pm after the news had been broken to them. I left the station at 8:30 and they were still there. Another woman not related was talking to the reception police officer and mentioned something about "sitting in the cafeteria". We didn't speak, and I didn't realize who they were until the following morning when a co-worker told me what had happened the previous evening. The family is a military family who's moved all over the country due to the father's job with our armed forces. The kid is supposed to be from Tennessee, and has only lived here for two weeks. This murder has rocked the town of Danvers and all towns nearby, including my own.

Windows 8.1 - Anyone have it yet?
Thanks, it's pretty easy. All of the Photoshop ones I downloaded from the web, about 1/3 of the game box ones I made on my own. I take pride in the way my computer looks on the outside, so I like the OS screen to be nice and modern looking too.

Windows 8.1 - Anyone have it yet?
Thanks. Yeah Windows 8 can actually be a lot of fun to customize if you're even a little bit "artistically inclined". I love game box art, so I use that for tiles and I love abstract CG backgrounds so I use that for my base (I prefer using a different one than my wallpaper) and believe it or not that's a stock one from the Windows 8.1 update. In a way I wish I could do more. I have WAY more games than are shown on my start screen. I don't have a monitor large enough to show them all off without scrolling so I only put "what's hot" on the start screen, such as the Battlefield 4 tile. I was considering making one of Elder Scrolls Online back when I was in closed beta, so I could show off, but I got lazy. If you ever get Windows 8, Jay, get 'Oblytile'. Free app, lets you make your own tiles. There are tons on the web, but I can make my own with Photoshop.

Windows 8.1 - Anyone have it yet?
So I spent a couple of days with it, so far it's: 1.) Reset all of my start screen customizations including all of the tiles I took time to make. 2.) Made my computer take much longer to boot on the first few start-ups (now it's behaving normally). 3.) Required immediate updates even after the patch was applied. 4.) Come with an even less straight forward version of Windows Update. 5.) Nearly tricked me into thinking I have to have a Microsoft account to use this. 6.) Turned on Stereoscopic 3D on in all my games without asking, or even telling me. And I don't even have a 3D capable display. I had to figure it out the hard way. I've read the list of benefits to the 8.1 upgrade, and I can probably confidently say that I won't notice a single one of them, as the new changes are simply there to appease upgrading crybabies who don't want to click the block that says 'Desktop' when they turn the PC on, or need a crazy amount of application splitting. There's nothing for me in this update. Installing Windows 8 was very fast and easy and once everything was set up, it worked great. This update was a headache. Here's a screenshot of my start screen now that I reset it. I still have a little more work to do:

You didn't mention what your CPU is which is pretty important.

can someone make this car
Aren't there like 50 Chargers like that already?

Windows 8.1 - Anyone have it yet?
After my update was done, it undid all customization to my start screen (wiped out all of my links to Adobe products and games, reset my wallpaper) and it nearly forced me into using an MS Account. I didn't see a 'Local Account' button, I had to read some text carefully to "proceed using current settings". Kinda pissed, to be honest. I'll set everything up again and use it for a couple of days, then post results.

Ford Police Interceptors win acceleration war against Dodge, Chevy
In other news, 0.3 seconds is practically immeasurable in real life scenarios... Ford, Chevy and Doge can let me know when they get a standardized police car that gets to 0-60 in 5 seconds or less, which would put it on par with a sports car. I'll care at that point. My heavy, V6 SUV has 300hp and does 0-60 in 6 seconds as it is. I'd expect a pursuit car to do much better than that. But they don't, even when the engines they put in them clearly have the potential.

Windows 8.1 - Anyone have it yet?
I'm downloading the update as I write this, but it's about 3.6GB so it'll take a while to download and install so I won't get a proper look at it until tomorrow. Anybody here have it (the official version, not the beta) installed yet?
