  1. Kinda. Some of them are certainly created to be absurd and fun. Like the 'fat man' codes for games based on the Unreal engine that make your character ridiculously bloated. But codes that raise wanted level, give you weapons, summon random cars, etc are primarily used as developer shortcuts and are kept in as a move of generosity. So I commend game developers that leave you with those options in their games.
  2. Glad to see you're enthusiastic. To answer your questions in order: - Keyboard and mouse because I'm a grown up and I own a PC to play on a PC, not an XBOX. The point of a controller is to condense and simplify things for a casual audience. The purpose playing PC games that are available on other platforms is to enjoy the freedom. You're eliminating the whole point by trying to turn your PC into a game console. - Depends on your level of computer competency.
  3. Developers. They're used to quickly summon items in games for testing so a developer won't have to play through 8 hours of story to get an automatic shotgun with frag rounds, as an example. The developers can then either choose to remove them or not. In the case of GTA, a large part of the fun with GTA is its absurdity. You'd be taking a lot of that away if you did away with cheat codes that let you summon tanks and rocket launchers, change the weather or make all pedestrians fight each other.
  4. Your problem is that you're playing it on an all in one which has no graphics card. And the SMPA60 error usually relates to car mods. So stop trying to use fancy mods and your game will crash less.
  5. Stop trying to burn your school down. They'll send you to another one within the week anyway.
  6. Has anyone else seen this abomination? https://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/rockstar-games-dont-make-a-pc-version-of-gta-v#share This video is what alerted me to it, and the narrator sums it up pretty well.
  7. 650 is "meh" as far as I'm concerned. It will certainly run better than what you have now, but I'd invest into at least a 660Ti (although the 700 series is out, so I personally wouldn't spend any money on anything on from that series either).
  8. Why does that need a kickstarter? Can't a dude just sell them on his own low budget website?
  9. That's not what EA is doing. They're making their content only available through them so they get the revenue directly, and the digital client is a way of easily distributing them. I doubt they're going to convince competing publishers to use EA's system for a tax.
  10. I'm not sure if Rockstar will simply patch the feature out or not, but technically I don't see why GFWL is needed at all, since as far as I can tell, GTA IV servers are hosted by the client who starts them. Any development company could handle coding some small application that does the same thing. That being said, even if that doesn't happen, GTA IV MP die-hards can always check out that link posted earlier in this thread to that company who hosts dedicated GTA IV MP servers. I feel sad they're taking it away, but I have tons of other games to waste my time on.
  11. Processors mediocre at best, graphics card is garbage. You'll need to spend more if you like high details.

  13. Not trying to ruin any festivities here, but can't you just send him a PM for this? If we start making birthday threads for everyone we're going to have them every day.
  14. Is this Exeter, NH? If so great job (not that the design is that hard to reproduce).
  15. It'll be ready when it's ready. There are a ton of other games right now and in the near future that I'd like to give my attention to other than GTA V, so I'd rather Rockstar take their time and do a console to PC port correctly this time, instead of giving us the barely passable XBOX port we got with GTA IV.
  16. A few things I want to point out to everyone real quick: 1.) Vendors constantly give away information on games early and accidentally, and is usually taken down in a day or so. This being the German version of Amazon, it may not have been spotted yet. That being said, German version or not, this is from a big vendor, Amazon, and this SKU was likely put in place for a product that IS coming in the future. A page wouldn't have been created otherwise. 2.) Official publisher announcements are the only way to officially confirm a game exists, in the same way that an official U.S. government press release saying Area 51 is real is the only way to confirm that. 3.) The box art on that web page is a generic stock image because the graphic for the PC DVD-ROM version doesn't exist yet, not because the page is fake. The game hasn't been ported from the console version to PC yet. They're still pressing discs for the XBOX and PS3 versions as we speak. Anyway, do all of these things rule out a very, very, very big mistake on Amazon's part? No, but it's extremely unlikely that a PC version won't come to pass after the hiring post for console to PC port programmers on Rockstar's page, plus this little gem found on the German version of the Amazon website. Good find, Grant Matos.
  17. That's a hell of a prediction, man. And I'm sorry to say it's likely to be a pretty inaccurate one, if you're suggesting you get to keep everything at high settings and use fancy car models imported from NFS Rivals (or whatever game modders end up using). This game isn't like GTA Vice City was to GTA III where the game used the exact same engine with some new textures and car models of the same polygon count. Although this game is based off of the GTA IV engine, the maps are extremely large compared to GTA IV, everything has a higher polygon count, there are world events similar to those in LCPDFR but on an even bigger scale, buildings are more elaborate and textures are more detailed. And the PC version may even feature actual anti-aliasing if a PC version ever does come out, since the lack of AA was a huge complaint for GTA IV. If there is a PC version of GTA V, it may indeed run on a GTA IV system, but if you have 2-3 year old computer that can crank GTA IV graphics, don't expect to max out GTA V.
  18. They were probably going to tell you that you're getting banned, but then thought a surprise ban would be even better. New moderators: "I have the powerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!"
  19. I knew I'd see this. If I could play devils advocate for a moment. the self-admitted 11 year olds on this forum who play GTA IV aren't any better of an age for this game, and I don't see people crying about their parents being irresponsible. It's only when someone gets killed. That being said, I don't like any parents that let their kids play this game at young ages and think they're all irresponsible. I just find that particular argument a little hypocritical coming from some of the people here.
  20. Good luck with that. Regarding people being douchey in peoples comments sections, etc.; just ignore them. The moderators would be dealing out warnings and bans left and right if they got on top of everybody who has an attitude. It just wouldn't be practical and would make the community an unappealing place due to a reputation of a heavily policed forum (no pun intended there). We just need to deal with it and move on. Hell dude, I get an ear full of crap nearly every day I boot up a game of Battlefield 3 for how I play. One kid earlier tonight went off on me several times no matter what weapon setup I used to kill him. I used an M16, a P90 a Shotgun and even just some C4 bricks. He cursed me out and called me a hacker or cheap or whatever each and every time. I just kept killing him and enjoying it. Eventually another player in the game saw it and said something to the degree of "Unreal, kudos to you for avoiding trolling and playing like a man instead of a little kid." I thanked him, and continued playing. *EDIT* Actually, here, I looked at my screenshots from that match and some of the conversation got captured: Anyway, despite the harrassment, I stayed where I was, and he had to deal with it.
  21. Why would you think it's a movie? Did you see a camera crew and a bunch of actors?
  22. Protip: County and city police are two different things.
  23. That's a pretty near-sighted thing to say, dude. The U.S. is one of the most influential countries in the world, which means that if a bill like that passes over here, other countries will start adopting the same ideas too. So yes, it does concern you.
  24. The fact that the 2nd one had the rear end rebuilt tells me that it was in a major accident and at that point I wouldn't even consider it, never mind the fact that it would be a 10 year old car by now. (Cars model years are displayed as the year after they're produced, for some reason.)
