  1. That's why they need more horsepower. The Charger's horsepower to weight ratio is too low making the 0-60 time yawn inducing. In my opinion, police sedans should have some weight to them so pit maneuvers on larger vehicles will still work, but that doesn't mean 0-60 in 6 seconds is excusable for a car that's supposed to be fitted with a police exclusive package. I drive a heavy SUV with a V6 and MY 0-60 time is 6 seconds. That's pathetic. If I had to pick any currently in production vehicle to replace the CVPI, it would be the charger. But I'm not impressed with any of the current vehicles. They're all ugly and slow. 0-100 doesn't matter on anything but a highway or an extremely long straight away. In neighborhood and city chases, or up against a motorcycle, 0-60 time and agile handling is crucial, and none of the current crop of standard police cars provide that. The CVPI and Charger are almost completely identical barring the actual styling of the car. Both have a limited top speed of 135-150 depending on the state, both are 0-60 in 6 seconds, both weigh a lot and are powered by a V8 engine, both cost around $30,000 to $40,000 for a well equipped patrol car. I think the CVPI looks better, but most car manufacturers and police agencies care about that, apparently.
  2. Not interested, as discussed in an older topic about STEAM OS when it was announced. It's a slightly modified version of a pre-existing Linux OS, Debian, and it also has no support for any graphics solutions other than those from nVidia as it stands so a large amount of people who might want to use it simply can't until they add support for AMD and Intel solutions. Just another OS to code for and to get in the way of my PC gaming.
  3. The model in that last picture is the R/T model which always looks sleeker and goes faster. Police agencies use a variant of the vanilla Charger. I think they look better than the Ford Interceptors (though not by much), but they certainly don't perform any better. Not wowed. Up the V8's horsepower, decrease the 0-60 acceleration time by one second or more, and improve its handling and then we'll talk. Dodge can squeeze more performance out of the Chargers engine than they currently have. They're just not trying.
  4. I hope I don't eat my words later, but personally I highly doubt the U.S. will be going to war with any sort of major technically advanced country any time soon. Especially China. It'd be bad for business on both ends. We buy tons of crap from them, and they get our money. Our citizens get slave labor iPads, they get cash and look the other way. China's government is happy with that arrangement from an economical standpoint (as they let those working conditions fly without much interference), and their economy gets stronger every year as a result of it. Plus a lot of self sufficient, technologically advanced allied nations would likely come to our defense in the event of an attack on U.S. soil, so I wouldn't worry about war with China right now.
  5. Sounds pretty good, I might have to check that out. Now if only they can somehow combine this with the spotlight mod. I liked that mod, but I didn't like that you had to change the lighting coordinates depending on the car, but I suppose that's unavoidable.
  6. What you read was likely either a YouTube comment or something from a rag. He has re-visit episodes at the end of each season where he comes back after 6 months to 1 year after he changed things around to see how they're doing. Only a few of them have closed, usually for the owners own reasons. One in Detroit was going under because of the recession, the actual city of Detroit filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy, another Greek restaurant was sold off almost immediately after its make-over despite the money it was making at the owners decision, and one in the UK version of the show was also closed down due to the owner not wanting to be a responsible owner.
  7. I still haven't bothered upgrading to ELS 7. Is there any point to it besides more patterns? The release notes aren't very descriptive and ELS 6 sucked when it came to the AI using it. I'm using ELS 5 since it's more stable and the AI uses it well. Not the general public.* Beta testers have NDA's.
  8. CPU & graphics card are garbage, PSU is too low power for a decent graphics card. Cut down the RAM to 6GB and you can spend a little on something else.
  9. None of them strike me as particularly great. The AMD builds at least have more cores available, so I'd stick with one of those if you absolutely had to pick one of them.
  10. It's probably a loose or broken ball bearing in one of your fans. You'll need to isolate which one it is and then replace it.
  11. The ARMA engine is a huge resource hog, so no dice on maxing everything out in those games. Sorry.
  12. It's a release candidate version of an LCPDFR themed calendar we're about to roll out. We haven't got all the swim suit photos just right, though. Fat Cop is such a diva sometimes.
  13. If by 'modern' you mean 'early 90's', then yes.
  14. In order to do what he did though that would mean he would have had to aim it at the persons back, and squeeze the trigger. I dunno why this subject is being debated. This original topic was about whether he can wear a police badge or not, and the answer is no. So this thread really shouldn't be open anymore, anyway.
  15. Saucy. Depending on how the next 10 years of U.S. politics pan out I might have to do that. Or if this dude gets to enforce any kind of law. I shouldn't be worrying, really. He'd have to explain himself in an interview, if he manages to get one because even if he gets pardoned, it's still on his record. I'd love to be in the room to witness that conversation.
  16. Then this game obviously isn't for you. The whole charm of Need For Speed is the insanity of it all. Million dollar cars racing for the hell of it, damaging thousands of dollars worth of property and cops that use EMP bombs and strafing helicopters that would kill people in real life to stop you from racing. If you want a sim you'll have to stick with LCPDFR, that's a close as you're going to get for now.
  17. You get to play games ahead of their intended release date, you get to learn a bit about how programming works and you get bragging rights. What's not to love?
  18. People may make mistakes, but if by some chance some of the young kids on here don't wind up getting a job as a police officer, and you do, then this country's justice system and government will have failed, and I'll be moving to Europe.
  19. Try some of those MMOs I listed. Variety is the spice of life.
  20. Isn't it open beta now? I played way earlier in the year during April for the closed beta. You're going to be sorely disappointed if you're expecting this to be anything like Elder Scrolls in any way except the lore, and the skill quick-select menu. First person fighting wasn't even working back when I first tested it. It's a good game, but no better than Age of Conan, or Warhammer, or RIFT, or Aion, etc. It's closest to Age of Conan out of anything I listed, I would say.
  21. I had to log in just to tell you to get that thing out of my sight. lol
  22. I've used WinAmp for years, but over the past 2-3 I've been largely ignoring it with the exception of times I need to play audio files with odd extension types. I'll still miss it. I guess I can always use something like Foobar2000 (if that's still a thing) or VLCMedia Player, but they're both uglier in my opinion, and aesthetics matter to me since I liked to "skin" my WinAmp player to fit with my desktop theme.
