carpless got a reaction from antiboy6 in Coastal Callouts SUPPORT ThreadI'm sorry think I'm missing the point. As this is coastal callouts why are we trying to mix it in with LSPDFR? its not designed for that? I personally have a separate setup for coastal callouts and play just those callouts, remove all other callout plugins you have or disable with Coastal menu. I still have my regular mods folder in with the Cops i want, but never try to mix, plus ELs doesn't work with Coastal Callouts,(because its not meant to) it takes 6 mins to copy back to play Lspdfr, I think we are asking too much of it?

carpless reacted to PNWParksFan in LSPDFR 0.4.7 - Now Available!Yeah lol, I got banned from his Discord server for suggesting that the mods should only show a warning ("not tested on this version of LSPDFR") instead of completely disabling themselves for minor LSPDFR version updates. Makes no sense at all, and is very hostile to users.

carpless got a reaction from Double Doppler in Disable the whole 'character' and RP idea0.4.1 all sounds great if you want to use it as a stand alone program, but us over the pond want a different feel to it, I fear its just to complex for our uses? Have to say not even tried it yet because of the complexity and for making you tube videos, I can't see the gains of it? I could be completely wrong and talking out of my arse, but if it isn't broke, I'm reluctant to fix it get my drift.

carpless reacted to Will in I love the mods everyone is making But!The default GTA IV police cars are already in the game...LCPDFR doesn't add them, it just uses whatever cars are present. You are not modding LCPDFR when you change the police cars, you are modding GTA IV. Having LCPDFR install car mods would create the same problems as when you install car mods. It crashes because of GTA IV, not LCPDFR.

carpless reacted to Steele1925 in I love the mods everyone is making But!Everyone else has already answered the majority of the problem so I won't hound you about that...
But GTA IV isn't the best port to PC, and the vanilla game itself has a few problems. Nothing major, but when you add mods, they become major issues. That having been said, let's hope that GTA V will be better for us. Again, it's not the fault of the modders (99% of the time).

carpless got a reaction from cw5110 in Why am I still crashingI'm running on a GT600 with 2GB ddr3 ram, and a dual core and 4GB ram, I did have a lot of crashing etc: but my system is lower than yours and I'm now running for over an hour without crashes, I've tried with and without dsound.dll.
My advice is to start again with Lcpdfr 1.0d. You must completely uninstall your old versions of LCPDFR, completely , if your using Mods, and I take it you are as your copmplaint is also with ELS V8. I found that ELS V8 was causing most of my crashes. I do not copy any advancehook.dll or script.dll's from any of the packs I have, they will be older that the ones with LCPDFR 1.0d.
Also back up before every mod.
I did find the basic LCPDFR with xliveless and dsound run fine its when you add mods. especially ELS v8. I was advised by a very excellent Modder ( DD) to try it with ELSV7, but haven't had to. Also I copy and paste from the folders to the folders, I don't just click on the folder and trust it to overwrite etc.

carpless reacted to ineseri in Making your GTA + ELS running smoothlyOkay, I am all for commandlines, but before giving advice about them, make sure you know what your own commandline does.
Let's break it down, shall we?
availablevidmem 2.0 -NORESTRICTION -NOMEMRESTRICT Here, you are telling the game to use 2gb of video memory, and have no restrictions on them. So far, so good.
-AVAILABLEVIDMEM 6.0 -PERCENTVIDMEM 100 But here, you are telling the game to use 6 gb of video memory, and thus scrapping the above line. THEN you tell the game to use all available video memory and thus scrapping the line once again.
-width 800 -height 600 -refreshrate 60 -novblank -texturequality 0 -renderquality 0 -viewdistance 0 -detailquality 0 -shadowdensity 0 All these are fine, if you want your game to look bad. Nothing wrong with that, as it will increase performance.
-nomemrestrict -norestrictions These lines have already been used.
-availablevidmem 2.0 -percentvidmem 100 And here you tell the game to once again use 2gb video memory, and scrapping the 100% one. THEN you tell the game to use 100% video memory again, and scrapping the 2gb line from just then.
-noprecache -safemode -fullscreen -minspecaudio These are all fine, but I tend not to want to run a game in safe mode.
Instead of using the above commandline, consider using this one instead:
-renderquality 0 -shadowdensity 0 -texturequality 0 -viewdistance 0 -detailquality 0 -novblank -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100 -minspecaudio -novsync -renderquality 0 -frameLimit 0 -nomemrestrict Yes, this one will make the game look bad.
If you feel a improvement with that line, you could try switching to this one:
-novblank -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100 -novsync -frameLimit 0 -nomemrestrict Feel free to add the following lines if you wish
-width 800 -height 600 EDIT: While ELS cars and ELS look pretty, they will make the game crash more often had you not used ELS. Your specs may improve that, but the GTA IV engine (RAGE) wasn't meant to handle the things that modding does to it.
-
carpless reacted to Will in Allow choice of Police forcesWhen you install car mods you are not "modding a mod." The car models have nothing to do with LCPDFR, you are just installing another mod in addition to LCPDFR. LCPDFR is a script mod for GTA IV, and car mods are model mods for GTA IV. The more mods you install, the more likely you are to crash.

The issue isn't getting the voices, that is the easy part. The hard part is the implementation of the voices so that game actually recognizes them. What is there right now is probably as close to perfection as LCPDFR will get, and it is damn good in my opinion.
-
I'm pretty sure more speeches would be used if the right speeches existed. Problem is, because the focus of the game was never on cops, they don't have a lot to say because the voice actors back then only did some basic stuff.

carpless reacted to Mr.Quiggles in Windows 10 upgrade will be freeDX12 will be supported with Windows 8.1, but not Windows 7 or 8.
Additionally, upgrading to Windows 10 isn't about getting games to run properly, it's about adapting to new standards and not being left in the dust when new titles requiring DX12 are released.
I have Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 all installed on seperate SSDs and I've played games on all of them except Windows 10, and Windows 7 is noticeably slow, not so much for games but just overall usage. Makes sense though, it was designed for older hardware and software standards and just won't keep up with modern titles.
The vast majority of games designed for Windows 7 and Windows 8 will run without problem in Windows 10, unless Microsoft really screws something up. so stay tune.
