Why am I still crashing

Featured Replies

Well I recently had upgraded my graphics card too my computer. I ended up putting a Nvidia Geforce  GT740 However. I've also gotten an error message saying that my graphics card meets or exceeds the minimum requirements. I still crash every so often while playing LCPDFR. I also downgraded from ELS V8 and as well as went back too LCPDFR 1.0C. Is it my graphics card? Should I put a better one in?

-GTA IV is actually a very demanding game, and is not well designed.  Because of this, your graphics card isn't ideal for running GTA IV on maximum settings.  However, there are a few things you can do to make GTA IV run better, outlined below.

-What is giving you the error message? GTA IV? Steam?

-"Downgrading" from LCPD:FR 1.0d to 1.0c won't help performance, it will just be more unstable.

1.) Commandline

Create a new text file titled "commandline.txt", and paste this inside:

-nomemrestrict
-norestrictions
-novblank

This may help or hurt your performance, it varies from each computer

2.) Large Address Aware

Please see '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> for more details.

3.) Eliminate "Bloatware"

Use taskmgr.exe to eliminate any running applications from using too much of resources

What graphics card do you think I should run. I just upgraded the one I have now. I don't mind upgrading it again. Also GTA IV is giving me the error.

I'm running on a GT600 with 2GB ddr3 ram, and a dual core and 4GB ram, I did have a lot of crashing etc: but my system is lower than yours and I'm now running for over an hour without crashes, I've tried with and without dsound.dll.

My advice is to start again with Lcpdfr 1.0d.  You must completely uninstall your old versions of LCPDFR, completely , if your using  Mods, and I take it you are as your copmplaint is also with ELS V8.   I found that ELS V8 was causing most of my crashes. I do not copy any advancehook.dll or script.dll's from any of the packs I have, they will be older that the ones with LCPDFR 1.0d.

Also back up before every mod.

I did find the basic LCPDFR with xliveless and dsound run fine its when you add mods. especially ELS  v8. I was advised by a very excellent Modder ( DD) to try it with ELSV7, but haven't had to.  Also I copy and paste from the folders to the folders, I don't just click on the folder and trust it to overwrite etc.

It's taken weeks to sort it out. Just add cars. Get it running with that first. If you want to change otters do it later as they haven't impacted my SIM. Go too the Els.ini and change ai cars to off. It's the two lines below where you change the light bar rate of flashing. Set them to 0. Also set max number of vehicles to 30. I've done so much I've lost track. Judging install the trainer until last. If your using xbox controller you'll need to trek that. mini too change job chase to X and start ped chase to Y
