Project "Criterion"
What does that even mean? I thought the modding community was about people sharing their work with each other. I don't get how something can be overused?

Vapid Cruiser with some touch-ups.
From the album: Sam's Snaps
Big thanks to Netman000 and Ekalb for their work with these cars, as well as to Skyline and everyone else involved in their conversion. This variation features a fixed rear license plate on the lower detail model, a FS Vision lightbar by F5544 and Lt.Caine and a re-mapped lower detail model to stop the cruisers looking like LSPD ones when viewed from afar. Also moved the interior mirror forward so that the driver could actually see it, and mapped the license plates to the paintjob. Coming soon. -
Plagiarism, respect and you. An important notice regarding our Community Guidelines.
I do appreciate the extra effort that's gone into the trolling after we've acknowledged it... It's a shame, I'd rather not leave this abomination up for all to see, but perhaps it better illustrates the way that certain people treat us and our members. Nothing productive, no reports, no dialogue, just a bunch of funny pictures. You would think that after all the hard work that our members and staff do around here that there would be some more appreciation, you know, getting everything for free, having a massive downloads section, working our butts off on releasing a new LCPDFR. It brings into question why we actually continue with this to be honest.

Plagiarism, respect and you. An important notice regarding our Community Guidelines.
Over the past couple of months we've had frequent outbursts of immature behaviour, primarily in the gallery, where members would upload pictures of models and other content, which other members would then question the legitimacy of - often times claiming the models had been stolen. After working endlessly throughout these past couple of months, trying to understand the problem and directly contacting a lot of the members involved, we established that a) many authors of work, such as models, feel as though we were not doing enough to combat pictures of stolen models being uploaded, and that b) many of these 'flame wars' were motivated by other factors including simple vendettas or hatred towards both communities and authors themselves. In response to this, we've made it clear that in all cases where violation of the Community Guidelines is suspected, and most relevant in these situations, the rules concerning 'Plagiarism & Copyright', that the content was to be reported to us immediately, through the report button, and that no public accusations or attempts at backseat moderating were to be made. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, these problems still persist, and therefore we have been left with no option but to make a formal, public announcement regarding this situation, and what is and what isn't acceptable content and conduct on LCPDFR. Clearly, by looking at this latest incident: http://www.lcpdfr.com/gallery/image/27215-detective-2014-vapid-police-interceptor/, this problem is still prevalent, and no reports are being filed despite our repeated requests and messages stating that for us to take action, the content must be reported to us. I want to make the following perfectly clear, that there is absolutely no place in this community for: Members who cannot follow simple and reasonable instructions from our staff team. Members that fail to respect the work of others by claiming others' work to be their own. Members that are abusive to other members or staff. To give you an idea of the problem that we face concerning issues with theft, stolen content, or improper credits, since Monday 25th, October 2010, we have received 3,160 reports from members. Of these reports, 263 contained the words 'credits' (56), 'stolen' (41) , 'permission' (74) and 'theft' (92). It should be noted that in these cases, terms such as 'Grand Theft Auto' would be counted as a report containing the word 'theft'. Additionally, in the past two weeks, we've had three reports that concern the issue, with two of them relating to a member uploading a skin which contained a model and one about a texture which is being used without permission. For a look at how we deal with such reports, I've attached screenshots of two recent reports, complete with the comments made on them by the staff team. I've been told repeatedly, as have our staff team, particularly Nicolai, that theft and improper credits and acknowledgements are a major problem facing LCPDFR and the GTA community. Despite this, and how large and widespread the problem is, we have only had 3 reports filed in the past two weeks regarding it. We would certainly think that there would be more than three reports in two weeks given what we have been told by various well known authors, and therefore either content which violates our guidelines is not being reported, or the problem isn't as big as it is made out to be. Of course, from the disputes and fights which we've had babysit, it's pretty clear to everyone here that there is a problem regarding theft, and that nobody is actually doing anything about it other than resorting to childish name calling, making public accusations, backseat moderating and making threats. We don't have eyes and ears everywhere, and we cannot act on cases where no report is made. If you think that someone has stolen your work, or that you have not been properly credited, or that someone is falsely taking credit for your work, please get in contact with us through the report button. Under no circumstances should anyone take matters into their own hands - we will simply not tolerate further instances of immature conduct. Similarly, if you notice any disputes, fights, backseat moderation or public accusations regarding this matter, please report the relevant posts to the Community Team so that we can deal with the user in question and help to quash the aurora of hostility that seems to grip some parts of our community at this moment. This is a modding community - it is built on the principle of people sharing their work for others to enjoy. Our staff team aren't here to run a daycare centre for immature and aggressive people. Believe it or not, just about all of us are modders too, and we'd far rather be developing LCPDFR, making cool vehicles and sharing unique textures for everyone who is a member of this website to enjoy. Sam. -----

LSPDFR and LSSDFR?
I'm surprised anything on that site works, lol. Most of us had probably forgotten of its existence.

Keep it on topic please. I do agree that the watermarks are excessive and might convey the wrong impression, though.

Leaked GTA V bug tracker logs
The person that leaked them put them on Google, not R*. It looks like all of Rockstar's stuff is on https://devstar.rockstargames.com, which is accessible only on their internal network.

Leaked GTA V bug tracker logs
Not sure if anyone has seen this, but I thought it was one of the better or at least most promising/legitimate looking of the leaks yet: http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/01/17/gta-5-bug-log-lists-pc-version-and-directx-11-effects/ Here, https://googledrive.com/host/0B-JdId1SslCJNEIweDFobGl2MzA/builds.xml, you can find what is supposedly a massive collection of changelogs from Rockstar's internal bug tracking system, which seems to be aptly named Devstar. Perhaps the most interesting things to take away, or certainly the things I noticed, were that the PC version has supposedly been in development since at least 2012, and there is also mention of a 'CnC' online mode, which seems to be quite in-depth, featuring bug reports such as: If a Cop uncuffs a Crook off mission, the Crook will still be teleported to the Precinct during the animation. Player could not deliver Crook in custody to precinct garage, no custody bar present while Crook is being herded. CnC Snitches - No snitches spawning for Cops. 'My Stats' box is not displaying for Cop players Cop player could not arrest any crook players. Arresting anim scene did not start for the cop only. "Take Custody" appears after arresting a solo Crook despite the fact that they cannot be taken into custody. Player crashes / hangs when entering or flying the helicopter on prison break

Developer woes
We've always used TortoiseSVN for LCPDFR and all our other projects. I can only speak for myself, but certainly for me, my main source of motivation are the people here that are huge fans of LCPDFR, and what we've done over the past 4 and a half years. It's no use if that's it though, and obviously it just adds on to my own inspiration. LCPDFR is something I like to develop, and the support and anticipation of all the fans around the world is what keeps me going with it, as cliché as it might sound.

Add Police Tape In LCPDFR
It's certainly an interesting idea, but I don't think it would be possible. The main problem would be getting the tape to extend to the width you required. Essentially, all we would be able to do is use a model which is fixed in dimensions - I'm fairly certain you can't re-size objects in GTA IV in a fashion that would retain the quality of the texture. E.g. as we increased the size of the object, the texture across it (like POLICE DO NOT CROSS), would also be re-sized with it, creating quite a nasty effect. There'd also be problems with getting the tape to look like tape, instead of being a straight line, and this could be done by adding animation to the object, like the flags you see in the game, but I'm not sure how compatible animated objects are with being re-sized.

XP support?
I understand your frustration, but it just isn't something we have the time to do at the moment. LMS, our main LCPDFR developer, doesn't have the time any more as he's started back up in education after the Christmas holidays and also is caught up in a lot of problems in real life, and I can't make these changes myself either as I'm far too busy at this moment in time myself. If we had known that people actually still used XP, and that .Net Framework 4.5 didn't support it, this is something we could have thought about during the development, but it honestly came as a surprise to me both that XP was still in use for gaming, and that it lacked 4.5 support. We built LCPDFR 1.0 on 4.5 because of the debugging tools it offered us, as well as the fact that the client profile version was discontinued, and it was instead released only as the full version. We had so many problems in the past with people only installing the client profile version of 4.0, with many people understandably confused between the two versions.

Man Dies After Waiting 42 Minutes for an Ambulance
Ambulances in Wales are in a really bad state by the looks of things. I'm not sure that this is a reflection on the UK on the whole - it seems to be quite a concentrated problem in Wales. Certainly, in Scotland, things aren't nearly that bad.

XP support?
From Microsoft themselves: "Running a well-protected solution starts with using modern software and hardware designed to help protect against today's threat landscape" I'm pretty sure that's them warning against using their own outdated operating system. Microsoft only continues to support XP in a very limited fashion because large corporations still use it in massive numbers. It is not our fault that they only offer a very limited amount of support for XP, and as LCPDFR runs on the .Net Framework 4.5, made by Microsoft, which doesn't support XP - by design - this is something we have no control over whatsoever. It's not our decision to not support XP, it's Microsoft's. It doesn't matter how old it is, it's simply a case of Microsoft no longer supporting one of their older operating systems in their own software. LCPDFR relies on .Net 4.5, and we don't have the time or the resources to make a separate version of it that instead runs on 4.0.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Laredo yet.

NSA? LCPDFR?
You think the NSA is bad? The British counterpart, GCHQ, runs a program called 'Mastering the Internet'. Within this, there's an initiative called 'Collect it all', which just happens to relate to the trans-Atlantic internet cables, yay! The NSA is explicitly prohibited by US law from spying on an American living in the US. GCHQ not so much.

LCPDFR 1.0, the British way! (Day 30 - 21 Aug. 2014)
You keep forgetting to call in your events! ALT + E whenever a suspect is fleeing or someone attacks you. You can target ANYONE as well and ALT + E them to set them as wanted too. ALT + B for backup, ALT + N for noose, CTRL + N for helicopter (in pursuits). Use them!

GTA V map being made for IV.
I imagine LCPDFR will run on it without a problem, it's just the locations of callouts and such will be rather messed up. I don't suppose there would be any reason why you couldn't use the API to make callouts compatible with it though.
