  1. This is a nice way to think of it. I apologise if my absence from this topic has been alarming, and I'm sorry that we don't have something for all of you to play yet. To be completely honest, if we had decided to set a release date, unleash the hype train and please everyone that is asking/demanding/begging for one, we'd have had a lot of very, very disappointed people on Friday. Unfortunately we run into problems and barriers quite regularly during development. To give you a few examples, we had a serious performance issue that was discovered just yesterday resulting in the game running at 10 FPS during certain sequences. This was a problem caused by LSPDFR and was of the severity that it actually crashed the performance analysis tool we use. It took a few hours to resolve, and as with a lot of things in software development, the fix to issue caused more problems than it solved. To put it into context, and this is actually what happened, I had to spend my entire night, from 11pm until 3am re-writing one of the most crucial AI systems in the project - our custom pursuit AI. The fix to the first issue had broken the pursuit logic, and the result was that the internal timing for it was hideously broken - with things running too fast and too slow. Too fast meant that cops were trying to do three things at once. Too slow meant that cops were being left to their own devices for too long, and we all know what happens when you leave the LSPD to do their own thing (it involves a hail of bullets). So, after rewriting this pretty important part of the project to use our new timing system, what appeared to just be one problem had turned into a lot more, and we had to fix them before we could do anything else. This is why a release date will never be given. When we wake up, we don't know what unforeseen problems are in store for us on that day. All I can say is that it has been a little over a week since what I promised would be the final trailer. The banner at the top still, in typical Sam fashion, still has the branding of a 'final countdown'. If I didn't believe that, I wouldn't keep it up there. I understand that people might be disappointed, but I suspect that this disappointment would be multiplied by a few billion if after the 'long' wait (a month and a bit), every time you tried to get into a chase in LSPDFR, your game ran at 10 FPS, and even if you could somehow cope with that, you had better hope you didn't encounter any backup units during that pursuit as if you did, you could forget about any notion of your suspect remaining alive for more than five seconds after. This is just some of the stuff we have to deal with. Let's try not to add the grief of a small number of people on here to that list.
  2. A lot more complicated than you might think unfortunately.
  3. I honestly doubt there will be much that a game developed in Unreal 4 by a couple of people. from scratch, will be able to do that can't be done in GTA V. I get the claim is made that "Oh this thing will totally kill LCPDFR/LSPDFR". No, it won't. And people will see why shortly after playing the first version of LSPDFR. Unfortunately, the reason that you don't see anything Police 10-13 related here is because we were threatened with legal action by them after people here called them out on what they perceived them to be a while back. Sure, there's no realistic possibility of such action succeeding, but we'd rather not have to spend our time dealing with things like that when we've got far more important and meaningful things to do.

  5. Well it would probably have killed me by now, so its death coming before mine has its benefits... I think :)
  6. We actually have it so that SAHP sometimes respond in all white unmarked cruisers in LSPDFR.
  7. Basically the way it works is I do the stuff which is more visual to the user, while LMS works on integrating things, making parts of the mod work with each other and adding some advanced background stuff. A good way to think of it is without LMS, the mod would have some cool stuff as far as features are concerned, but it wouldn't work! Without my stuff, the mod would work, but it might not be very fun, realistic or interesting.
  8. If all goes to plan, it might be our own LMS' turn to take the spotlight for once - I expect, if as I say, it does go to plan, he'll have some exciting things to share about that.
  9. I do hope there's a box of edible goods (preferably cookies) making their way to me in return for posting the trailer before 11:30 BST :)
  10. The second and final trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to LCPDFR has just been released, showcasing a number of features which have made it into the first public release of LSPDFR, including traffic stops, arrests, pursuits and of course, drinking coffee! Although feedback to the debut trailer for LSPDFR was, for the most part, quite overwhelmingly positive, we did understand the disappointment shown by some at the perceived lack of features. Of course, our main priority then was to break our silence on LSPDFR and treat everyone to a very early preview. Now, with many tireless days and nights of development under our belts, we present a more in-depth taste of things to come. Stay tuned for more updates on LSPDFR as development comes to an end and the first public release fast approaches. There's also an alternative Vimeo version available for anyone having issues with YouTube: https://vimeo.com/129257919

  12. I think we've found a happy medium as far as backup options are concerned. Not too complicated, but not too simple either. Knowledge is power! I've been a couple of times, studied US politics extensively (to the point of writing my politics dissertation on it), and have of course learned a lot of things about policing in the US from everyone here. I also thoroughly enjoy studying the American cuisine but don't tell anyone or they'll make fat jokes, again.
  13. The LSPDFR section will turn into a proper forum section and they'll be in there somewhere I imagine.
  14. Haha, no. Stuff like this generally only happens during Prime Minister's questions which takes place for 30 minutes on a Wednesday morning. Each week the PM has to come before parliament and 'answer' their questions. You get some amusing exchanges.
  15. So that's where all my disk space went...
  16. I'm always hungry.
  17. In all seriousness though, not only do we have 'Crew Friday' tomorrow - there's something else to look forward to as well.
  18. Sorry. I slept. For an hour. :(
  19. Staff are allowed to edit posts to remove any material which breaks the rules. Generally, this is the only time that editing posts happens.
  20. As ineseri says, it isn't really our place to be editing people's posts like that. There could easily be situations where the wrong meaning was taken from posts and carried through into edits. I think a better solution is just to reply asking if they mean what you think they mean.
  21. Yes, sadly. We have access to the animations already used in the game's scripts - they've helped a lot, but we've had to guess a few too. You can toggle all extra parts of any vehicle selected.
  22. Part of the LSPD's "Kill em all" program.
