That old boat got me through some of the most exciting times of my career. She may be slow, she may be old, but the sound of that engine when you put down the pedal, the look, the feel, the body-on-frame construction, and the punishment it could take made it the best vehicle I've ever been assigned.

My dept is due to receive the new Ford Interceptor shortly, and I hope it can live up to the reputation the CVPI has built.

You are all aware of the awesome look of the old Caprice from 91'-96', right? And now, this ugly thing they call the Caprice being released this year shows up. Some hideous shit-box design with a high ass-end and ugly aerodynamics, probabably a plastic body, run entirely by computers no doubt. So IF they do bring back the "Crown Victoria" name, it won't be the same car. Hell, they might make some god awful "mid-size" hybrid sedan with a 4-cylinder and call it the new 2013 Crown Victoria. And to me, it'll just be a Ford Prius. I'm sick and tired of these ugly cars. EVERY new car design is hideous IMHO, and on top of that, they rely entirely too much on computers. Its sickening.

the new taurus sho cop car basically is world better performance and handling wise. and either way is what ford wants at least tell the new falcon.But having said that the taurus is doing well for police sales though it seems the explorer is most popular chicago pd and chp along with wisconsin highway patrol and many others have gone ford only

Yes, it is sad when time moves forward. In my opinion, we should have T-Model cop cars still.

I understand how people miss things that go by and have fond memories. However, there has to be progress where newer, smarter and more fuel-efficient cars come out.

That "ugly aerodynamics and computer operated" car propably ends up costing the tax-payers a lot less each year. While performing its intended duty better.

I'm glad Wisconsin's departments still has Fords in service. I know my city(Milwaukee) is still using Crown Vics like pros! I'm proud of it!

It depends on the department. The local ones where I used to live preferred the Chargers since they had a similarly heavy body and identical performance. The new Chevy's are ugly and I've only seen a few of them, none of which locally. And I saw an Interceptor Taurus recently in my old hometown while driving through, one used by the Massachusetts State Highway Patrol, and an Interceptor SUV again used by the Mass. State Highway Patrol. I didn't notice them at first glance, and I almost made the mistake of passing the cop in the Interceptor SUV on the highway. lol

That american Ford Interceptor just reminds me A LOT of the european Ford Mondeo.

Finnish Police has been using Ford Mondeos for 20 years and the newest model looks suspiciously like the interceptor. It is not, since Ford Mondeo is sold also as a sedan and station wagon for normal civilian market.

I suppose a lot of the look of the Police INterceptor has been drawn from the Mondeo.

In that second picture, the back of the car has the letters "Sau" What department was that? LOL. And yes, I've seen the explorers.

Did a bit of googling and wikipedia, closest I could find in Wisconsin with those letters was Sauk County, probably wrong though, can't be sure without the rest of the rear shot, or the person who took the photo clarifying lol.

Also sad to see this go, I'm from Australia so don't see these ladies first hand, but they are in a lot of shows I watch and I love seeing them, use them over most any car in LCPD:FR too.

Can't be more agree with that, besides back then was a CHEVROLET, and now is a rebadged Holden, knowing Ford I wouldn't be surprise if they introduce an european crap with less power than a soviet car. Besides I don't remember the last nice car I saw being marketed. Also, the cars with so many new technology use to endure less; here's an anecdote of my dad, the last time he traveled to the desert instead of using the old toyotas, that can withstand all obstacles, they went in modern models, full of technology and that kind of crap, and what happened? The cars couldn't pass any obstacle as rivers, cause their onboard technology could get damaged. So is it so good to fill the cars with computers and electronic equipment or is it better to keep the basic things and less electronic, and have a more strong car?

What makes this Crown Vic thing worse is that manufacturing plant's have design plans for up to 4 years, which mean's, they knew 4 years ago that the Crown Vic would no longer be designed, which if i'm not mistaken, not sure what it would do performance wise whilst in pursuit, but Original Light said something about Eco-Boost, i think it had to do with something like that, they wouldn't switch out the engine for a more "Eco-Friendly" engine.

Really in my opinion, people like the CVPI body design and the roar of the engine whilst driving fast, however, the car does not make the driver, the driver makes the car..

Indeed these are strange times, some dumbshit put 4 doors on the "new" Charger design that's like using a 2 door Challenger to transport detainee's , hell, most department's don't even use the Dual Exhaust Hemi , i know the RCMP doesn't..

I could live with the new Ford Taurus as a Police Vehicle, my local department just put one on the road the other day, and it look's fine as hell, mind you, my local department houses 672 Police Officer's, which would be extremely difficult to completely replace the CVPI just like that, you need to take into consideration, (my local department uses Whelen Liberty) the lightbar itself is almost $4,000.00, plus installation, plus tuning it to PPV PLUS the actual cost of the vehicle, the government is and alway's will spend WAY to much on themselves with our money being (Military, Police etc etc), hell, even my local Metro Transit Supervisors has PPV equipped with Police Lighting, basically, amidst all my ranting, what i'm saying is, Ford Crown Victoria, just caused the tax paying citizen's of Canada, U.S.A and anywhere else that uses the Crown Vic, an ass ton of money..

and what happens if your car stops working? in 10 years we won't be able to switch a fucking tire without going to a Computer Expert that takes care of the tech part first. I mean back in the day you had your old Chevy Truck. Sure it wasn't high tech but you where able to fix most of it by yourself and she was running like a dream.. Now you need to go to a Shop for every little shit.
