for driving controller but on foot or for controls keyboard + mouse

Exactly. I have both readily available and will change between my controller and my keyboard + mouse as I enter/exit vehicles.

Also use both. I pick up my controller whenever I'm in a vehicle and put it down to use my keyboard and mouse for on foot gameplay.

I used to play on the Xbox 360 where controllers were the only option, so when I moved on over to PC I kept using controller for flying and driving - After a few sessions of GTA Online w. Sam (who only uses keyboard), I had to learn to live without the controller. Yes, it's "easier" to use a controller for driving when you want to do "fine" movements (accelerate or turn more slowly) but once you get used to it, it isn't too bad.

But, choose what works for you, it is after all you who should be comfortable with it.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

Controller 100%  Since you'll spend most of your time driving, it makes the most sense to have smoother, fine tuned driving.  Playing on keyboard is more convenient for quickly hitting keybinds and what not, but I absolutely HATE that driving makes you look like a drunk mofo.  Aside from that, if you've ever seen fivem roleplay videos, it is VERY easy to tell who uses keyboard because of said driving.

I've found a nice medium for using both KB and controller.  Mostly all my keybinds are within reach of one hand, such as on the bottom of the keyboard.  For example, CTRL S opens a menu, CTRL A opens another menu, etc.   At the same time though, mouse is 10000% better for aiming your weapon, so both have their positives and negatives.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Its all down to preference really.  I myself am a keyboard guy. Most ppl that use a controller use it mostly for driving.  Keyboard + mouse most ppl are better at shooting with those.  I myself dont like driving with a controller, so keyboard + mouse fill all my needs. If you do use keyboard, i recommend using one with a keypad, its very useful for things like sirens and other while-driving needs.  Better than that would be having a mouse with additional keys, so a gaming mouse, and mapping quick keys to that.

I am more of a keyboard guy when it comes to driving and pursuits and just playing LSPDFR in general. But when it comes to having a nice relaxing flight around Los Santos and Blaine County, I prefer controller cause I can't fly to save my life with a keyboard. Lol!

I want to use a controller as i have a xbox 360 controller and i have ps4 controlers but for the life of me i cant get GTAV to detect that i have one plugged in. my windows 10 knows its there as when i go into PC settings on my PC ( control panel) It says the xbox controller is already installed.

Anyone know how i need to get around this so that GTA sees its there and lets me use it? I want to use both controller for driving and keys for foot.

Mouse and keyboard, having to switch back and forth is just a major annoyance, driving isn't *that* much better with a controller. You can also hold your left mouse button and steer that way, takes a bit of practice.

Mod it until you break it.

I find ground vehicles extremely easy with a keyboard, but when it comes to flying, I need the controller. XD

True, good thing the LSPD doesn't use jets for local patrol 😉

They may not, but that doesn't stop this cop from breaking the SOP's. XD
