I agree! Spent about two total hours playing last night and never had a single game crash! Life was great and the lights looked fantastic! With the ENB installed my game now looks and plays realistic. Just have to work the kinks out of my game pad configuration! VERY WELL DONE!

I've found that this mod does go very well with ENB (then again, what doesn't?). And the lack of crashes is another benefit to going non-ELS... I switched all of my els vehicles out and I've been running fine. Except for when I had a bad model installed.

As a mod update, I've decided that V1.2 will have two new bright LED coronas and a newer, brighter halogen corona. No ETA as of now.

I have had a really hard time finding a good ENB. However last night I found that if I put the ingame shaders to LOW OR OFF most ENB mods will work fine with no crashes on 1.07 version of the game. Also running non ELS vehicles fixed a lot of problems as well! Another note, I was having. Crashing issues with the tow mod, but I switched it back to having the tow truck drive up then drive away and it solved that. For some reason spawning the tow truck and just disappearing with the car crashed my game...

Can't wait for the new version!

Version 1.2 has been submitted for approval.

Changelog:

"Larger Halogen," "Larger LED," Larger LED 2" added. The textures for those are twice the size of the originals, going from 128x128 to 256x256. The files are still only about 6.8kb in size so there's no performance impact.

I would like to add that, unless someone sends a PM and requests a larger texture size, I will not create a public release with a texture larger than 256x256 pixels because the corona for non-ELS lights are shared by headlights, taillights and spotlights so creating a texture that's, say, 1024x1024 will result in GIANT headlight and taillight coronas. Literally, half your screen will be filled with them.

I must say that you are doing a fantastic job!! After re-working some ENB settings had another idea for you... Again, I don't expect you to do it unless you feel that there is a fit in your mod... Bare with me while I try to explain this in words.

When you look at an LED light, it is made up of a handfull of little LEDs. What if your corona had some darker or lighter dots in the center of a rectangular LED? Then the LED itself lights up blue or red, then have a substantial lens flare off of that... Let's say you have the rectangle LED, then have the flare extend for maybe what would look like 6 inches from the center... Almost like a machine gun muzzle blast.

Jst thinking out loud! :-)

P.s. up at the cabin this weekend, I will try and check messages on and off..

Hmm that could work but I'm worried about the headlights taillights and spotlights on cars. They all use the same corona as the emergency lights so making an led style with numerous small led bursts inside will make the headlight coronas look the same way. I can experiment with it and see how it comes out though.

Thanks for posting the video! Looks good, especially with the lighting mode 2 activated as well.

This mod is coming along very nicely Icon and is greatly appreciated for those of us running Non ELS cars.

Question though, how do you activate lighting mode 2?

I tried your idea and my fears were realized.

This is a screen of the lights:

This is looking great. Downgrading from ELS right now!

You mean upgrading from ELS :P

Once you go non els coronas and strobes, you will NEVER go back to ELS! I promise you that! :-D

The only reason I can see to use ELS is the addition of more lighting possibilities and more patterns.

Though the god-car "feature" and known crashes are enough to keep me away, as is the fact that we have new options for lighting coming in the future.

You make a very good point. I know that someone just starting out the LCPDFR might want to use a ELS setup, and as they play will get experience and not smash up the cars as often. The other thing i did was install a car repair mod that allows you to repair your car on the go without having to cheat and use the trainer. I can now RP basically repairing my car now. I still have issues trying to find some sort of mod to help with the stopping of traffic while doing a traffic stop. Really mad that cars keep hitting me or bumping my squad then just driving forwards and pushing my car for blocks down the road.

So I believe it's time for an update on this mod (I don't think this is necroposting..?).

Firstly, I apologize for the VERY long spell of inactivity. This mod is NOT dead, and I never plan on killing it, at least not now.

My Windows SSD died on me, which was my only Windows install. Even though I have over 2TB of other HDD space, the way everything is partitioned I would have to do massive amounts of partition resizing etc in order to make room for a new Windows install. Long story short, I can't play GTA right now which means I can't test or package any new coronas.

I am currently using Ubuntu, and since I was using GIMP for corona creation, I can still create new coronas if anyone is interested, but I can not package them in to a .wtd file and I can not test them in-game. I would need someone else with OpenIV skills (I use OpenIV because it has more features than Spark, and it's easy to modify texture sizes) in order to package the textures and I would also need someone (or the same person) to test new coronas. Anyone willing to fulfill this role must be a trustworthy member on the forums. If anyone with a < 50 post history comes along wanting to get access to my not-released textures, you will probably be turned down, unless you already have proven yourself to the community.

The Fall college semester has started up again so I don't have as much time as before, but I can certainly still do a little work on this here and there.

If anyone is interested in fulfilling those aforementioned roles, or if you have any more feedback, please leave a post here or send me a PM.

Thanks.
