This is a video I made for my clan once we get up and running, on how to do a proper pit.

Some big city PD's seem to enjoy removing "Precision" from the P.I.T., resulting more into broadsiding the suspect at Mach 10. Either way, at least they stop!

Well, most cities try to refrain from doing the PIT when there's a lot of cars parked on the street or there's a lot of buildings like in NYC or there's a lot of people, again, like in NYC, LOL. I think most agencies do it when there's the least collateral damage to be done. (Like civilians' cars being hit from the PIT and etc. I know if someone was that greedy for money they could file a lawsuit.)

Good PIT video. I may definitely show this to some of my new recruits that are having issues with the PIT. Thanks! :turned:

Great vid! Very accurate and pretty much how they trained us to do in PDS (Pursuit Driving School). The one thing I must point out (and you did so nicely in the video) is that when contact is made on the driver side quarter panel, you then accelerate and drive through the PIT, braking only when the car spins out completely. That is where the PIT fails in most of the youtube videos from other LCPDFR players. They hit the breaks when they make contact and thus the the rear wheel loses traction on the vehicle that it is attempted on and thus the vehicle swerves and continues on.

Lawsuits aren't as bad as they sound :P

Not as bad as they sound eh?

You can lose your house, your wife and kids, pretty much everything you own, but hey, i don't mind losing the shirt off my back, no big deal..

@Dark Angel- What CVPI did you use in your video? that Bugz' CVPI? also, what graphics are you using? look's stock but only with an ENB Bloom kick.

@Everyone else- i wonder if pursuit actually last long in New York?

If i remember correctly, the use of a vehicle in such that it intentionally comes into contact with another (eg: ramming, bumping, or pushing) considered lethal force in most states? I remember reading something about this in Florida and Colorado at least.... But i think its safe to say that if Florida made it illegal, the only place it might still be legal would be Texas...

Unless done 100% correctly, this would make the PIT lethal force. Because the PIT is 'precision', it is not considered lethal force if done CORRECTLY. But, if an officer screws up in the slightest or someone gets hurt they could be liable for the result and possibly face criminal charges (just as if an officer shot someone for no reason).

Most of the time, during a pursuit a spike strip or similar device will be used to end the pursuit - its safer, cheaper and easier to train on, that's why most departments don't use the PIT.
