Done. I also think a tweeting campaign is in order. (@rockstargames)   This is something very odd with Take2. Many gaming companies (Especially open world games it would seem) are fairly ope

Petitions do nothing. You aren't going to win over a multi-million dollar company.   What you people need to be petitioning is having the retards over at OpenIV stop forcing users to uninsta

That decision is about whether a patent holder retains patent rights on a physical item they have sold. Software is generally protected by copyright, not patents; Rockstar's position is that their software is licensed, not sold (US courts have generally upheld that sort of claim, although in other countries it might be less accepted); and the decision was not about whether a contract could bind the purchaser (Lexmark was trying a claim for patent infringement, not breach of contract).

The way the ruling is written affects licenses such as those you agree to when you first power on a product. It basically means, that they can no longer claim to be only loaning you the product.

Let me guess. You either downgraded GTA V using a backup of Ragehook, or hit uninstall later on OpenIV.

Almost. Luckily, I still had Ragehook 52 in my DL folder, which only supports patch 1032. Ragehook 53 only supports 1033. So I removed RH, reinstalled 52, declined the update. I also declined to uninstall OpenIV. Also, luckily, I have 3 backups of my GTA V folder, so I replaced my default folder's GTA5.exe, GTA5Launcher.exe, and installScript.vdf with the ones from one of my backups. Then, I disabled auto update in Steam. Now, for me at least, RH wouldn't launch the game, it threw an error saying the game wasn't launched via Steam. So I learned that if I launch it from Steam, then run RageHook, it works. I am now happily patrolling Los Santos again!

Update:

"Update 2: Rockstar has sent PC Gamer a brief official statement on the matter: "Take-Two's actions were not specifically targeting single player mods. Unfortunately OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody. We are working to figure out how we can continue to support the creative community without negatively impacting our players."

I would love to see a example of this. Also doesn't OpenIV just allow for people to edit models or textures of the game, so with that how/why could it interfere with Online?

373 needed to reach 15,000 left to sign as of today at 10:51PM ESTRockstar Games, in their last response to PC Gamer, they mentioned "we are working to figure out how we can continue to support the creative community without negatively impacting our players". I wonder if this would make Take 2, rethink their decision.

It's 108 remaining now for the petition, give it like 2 hours and it will most likely be completed. We would probably receive a word from Take 2 by Monday, if not sooner. Thank you t0y for creating this petition. This really brought out how much everyone cared for the community, modding, LSPDFR, etc. Also the "mostly negative" review on Steam for GTA V is almost at 20K now since the past few days. It was at like 12,000 this morning. Anyways, I guess I'll go back to GTA San Andreas now (to follow that train). Thanks for reading this and peace out!

Update:

@IndianaisMyState reached out to Take-Two Interactive, he was directed to a member of their legal team who said they have no current ETA on their statement but it confirms they are aware of the C&D and they did in fact send it, but in combination with Rockstar's statement we hope they can reconsider their decision.

Also:

The petition as of now has hit 25,000 supporters and increasing every minute, and the Steam reviews have reached "Overwhelmingly Negative" hopefully Take-Two is realizing how bad of a decision that was.
