I'm definitely signing this petition. Playing other games like Fallout, American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2, etc that rely on mods to make it more enjoyable, I'm slightly worried those companies might take TTI example. Take Two should be ashamed of their greedy selves but I guess making Battleborn F2P made them lose it

Done. I also think a tweeting campaign is in order. (@rockstargames)   This is something very odd with Take2. Many gaming companies (Especially open world games it would seem) are fairly ope

Petitions do nothing. You aren't going to win over a multi-million dollar company.   What you people need to be petitioning is having the retards over at OpenIV stop forcing users to uninsta

The post on the gtaforums says the OpenIV team has been accused of violating Russian law. That would be a pretty straightforward court battle, as I'm convinced no law has been broken here. However, OpenIV devs were right... The legal action would cost them hundreds of hours and tons of money, only to prove nothing really. Shame.

We have reached 10,000 supporters, quickly reaching 11,000.

To those of you who believe a petition wont make Take Two bat an eye, I guess I can agree with both sides. Take Two is a private company, meaning they are in the stock market, they are basically represented by the public. I think, if they are smart they should care about the opinion of the largest community inside of their game. I've never watched a singleplayer walk through video or "GTA 5: Playing Singleplayer" maybe some online videos, but nonetheless the modding community of GTA 5 is probably the largest portion of the game. I have spent $120 on Grand Theft Auto titles just to be able to play LS/LCPDFR and that is just one small mod of the game. The modding community needs to show T2 that we actually care, and that it effects them. I dont want to stand by the side and let my hobby get ruined by a company, maybe a petition wont do much but we have to try. I will agree though T2 wont be financially effected by a boycott of the game by modders, as we all have already purchased the game and we dont play Online for the most part but we should at least try to get them to hear us and show them how bad this decision is.

Anyway, keep sharing the petition at least try to save this community thanks.

Somehow my review is the most popular review on GTA V, so I edited it to include the petition. I'm sure Take Two is getting the message... hopefully they'll undo this.

Looking at it now, the edit has not appeared on the review.

I've been informed that U.S. Congress has recently passed a law that will go in effect this year, which states that companies are no longer allowed to "force rent" games or "prohibit modding" on games purchased by the consumer. This will also affect gaming consoles. This of course will make Take Two angry, as they will have to adjust their policies.

While I was posting a new negative review in steam, after I did I updated and 100 more had done the same in that little time..

68% of reviews in the last 30 days now show negative....over 14,000, most of which I'm sure date back to the past 2 days...

WTF Rockstar/Take-Two.....

Just noticed that. Maybe it's getting too much traffic for it to update as of right now? I'm noticing 100-200 people finding it helpful / funny every 15-20 minutes...

That decision is about whether a patent holder retains patent rights on a physical item they have sold. Software is generally protected by copyright, not patents; Rockstar's position is that their software is licensed, not sold (US courts have generally upheld that sort of claim, although in other countries it might be less accepted); and the decision was not about whether a contract could bind the purchaser (Lexmark was trying a claim for patent infringement, not breach of contract).

Apparently Rockstar needs to update their "Primary Focus", as they clearly defined earlier, and still state, that their primary focus reference modding was protecting GTA Online....apparently that "protection" now seems to mean protecting online by trying to force everyone to play GTA Online to "extend" the life of the game. Not happening, Rockstar....

"We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics. To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV.  Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways."

At 7:40 PM (CET) german gaming site GameStar reported that the letter which was sent to OpenIV Team contains a lot of grammatical errors and it could be a fake letter. GameStar is awaiting response from Rockstar.

If it was infact a fake letter, why would we have not heard anything about it?

OpenIV may be confused by the fake letter, I think the fact we haven't heard anything from Take Two or Rockstar kind of proves further that it could be fake as they would probably issue a statement against modding, and/or go after other programs as well as other mods and not wait for the community backlash. Hopefully it was fake an OIV just isn't very smart.

That would make sense.
