I think if you go into the settings you can turn down voice volume. If that fails, you can always mute sound. You might get away with deleting some of the audio files, or replacing them with blanks, although that might take some work.

Or just not let your kid's play it as Ekalb said, or you could just choose a specific character to play with, armoured guard doesn't say much, jst complains about his shift lol

Yep... appreciate the nature of the game and i guess i am being naieve thinkning that swearing was the biggest issue on a 'cop' game!

Having said that, i will fiddle with the sound and see what can be done... its a pity that the engine for this has to be GTA... i guess a dedicated sim just woudnt be the same?

Thansk guys for your input and not slagging at me!

Cheers

Doug

It's up to you to decide if you want expose your children to the content of the different games, but I'd advise you to research the games you're going to get them to see if it contains content that you deem appropriate for them, the ratings system aren't the ultimate guide, some kids (most kids) are playing shooter games while in their teen years, some kids can handle it, and others can't. I wouldn't advise you to censor games, you should rather play it with them, they might not understand some aspects of the game.

There's plenty of games out there that would be more appropriate for younger kids, but your main concern shouldn't be foul language.

I've played GTA since Vice City, which was 9 years ago, making me something like 9 or 10 years old at the time. I remember completely not understanding the sexual references or drug references whatsoever, all I wanted to do was shoot up people and get in cop chases. Obviously the swearing is maybe more of an issue as it is something that kids are more likely to pick up. I honestly think too much of a fuss is made about sex and nudity and drug usage and all that stuff in GTA, though, as I think that the focus should be on the fact that you can get a chainsaw and cut someone up into small pieces, or run people over with a combine harvester in SA and watch their blood come out of it, or ram someone against a wall in IV and kill them from the compression between the car and the wall. In my opinion the sheer level of violence in GTA is much more significant than anything else, as much of the other questionable content in the game is easily overlooked, but the predominant theme is killing people.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."

the game is rated M....for you know..18 and up? I don't think kids should be playing this type of beat em up, shoot em up game that has drug related issues etc etc

NicolaiB made a good point it is up to you but i think many fathers like me would say you will regret it as they get older they may copy what they see. just think out it do you really want them to see and copy. take jackass as an example they warn you not to copy and what do i see on youtube people copy jackass. i dont want to see you make the wrong decision thats all mate.
