  • Once again General Motors does a great job. Love the looks, although they are slowly starting to look more and more like the European Chevies, which are awful.

I liked the 80s, 90s, and and the early early early 00s. I sure hope cars designs go back to the way they used to be. Ford killed its last boxy vehicle, so now we're going to have all of these modern cars. Don't get me wrong, I love some of the new cars. I'm just talking about most of these new civilian sedans.

The Impala looks good, but they should go for a more "American" look, since they're an American car company.

Agreed with Eggowaffles, a civillian version in my opinion wouldn't be bad, it is a nice car, but some car's are just not meant to be beat unit's, just like when they brought back the Charger, since when is Charger a family car? they look good, but they were not originally designed as a family car..

Crown Vic has ALWAYS maintained the same shape and has always been 4 door's, and it has alway's looked hella professional puttin down the road ( and cause it's a ford)

the RCMP are pretty loyal Crown Vic user's, but they have a wide array of vehicle's ranging from Dodge Charger's, Silverado's, Tahoe's and Crown Vic's.

I will cry if this Impala is made into a police version with RCMP decals on it

Doesn't look American enough for me, looks more like something from Europe or Japan.

Similar to how every other Ford and Chevy (and several Chrysler) car that has come to market over the last 10 years or so does? Aside from most trucks and some SUVs, of course...

Blame globalization if you have to point fingers. Gone are most of the smaller, independent, and unique automotive manufacturers, as well as some of the mid-sized ones. They've all either been forced to cease operations or become part of a larger manufacturer. (Such as Lamborghini becoming part of Audi, and Bentley/Rolls-Royce becoming part of Volkswagon.) In the US, the 'Big Three' have either merged/partnered with foreign car companies (Daimler/Chrysler) or bought-up several as subsidiaries (Chevy and Ford) in efforts to save R&D money through combined design and manufacturing efforts. With the exception of the occasional odd-ball vehicle, such as the Ford GT, every new vehicle model the 'Big Three' has churned out over the last decade or two was primarily designed by a subsidiary, and/or had major components (drivetrain) supplied by them. Most often, Ford vehicles are based upon designs from Mazda and Volvo, while Chryslers are typically based on designs from Mercedes and Mitsubishi, and GM cars often use designs from Holden, Saab, and Daewoo. (Well... GM used to use Saab. RIP.)

I'm kinda sick of all this re-badging. If I want to buy a Ford presently, I can pick from any number of re-badged Volvos... LOL

They are designing this for civilian use. The Impala is a pretty popular civilian car, which far outweighs fleet orders from police forces. Chevy is designing a civilian car first, and later adapting it into a cop car.

What I forgot to mention earlier and is a big note... Is that the Caprice and Impala are supposed to be twin brothers. The Impala was known as a ''Sports Caprice''. Evem General Motors stated that once.

New generation Caprice and Impala look way different than each-other,from what I know.Anyways, only a few tempt me from old-school so I know way too less than you,Jordyy.

Older vehicles uses to be more resistent than newers, now they have too much useless technology expensie to repair...

Then less departments will take it, suppossing there's a police version. I guess chey is betting on the Caprice for police use.

Agreed.... the CVPI can drive through a building at 60 and still work.. its a freakin tank.

They have the Caprice which is aimed at law enforcement, they probably aren't too interested in adapting the Impala as well.

My department just bought 90 new Caprice PPVs... and they're actually quite nice... more horses than the Vic.... the only downside is the Gear shift is in the center console... so its kinda hard to put in the comp.

Chevrolet does not only build ''copcars'' you know?

They make good trucks!

Yeah, but what I was trying to say was: General Motors is seperating the twins. They should've kept it twins IMHO. I liked the fact that Impala was the Sports Caprice. But how newer they got, how more they starting looking less like each other. Know what I mean?

+1, I can't be more agree on that, I love these american boxy vehicles and hate how all the new cars are appearing with that european/japanese design or even just sharing the same body; you look the Buicks and you only can see an Opel, and you ask yourself "hey, where's now that agressive 80s Regal, I can only see an damn opel insignia?"

I hope these old style boxy bodies come back again, or the 90s Caprice/Impala or some Chrysler style; big and spacious cars but with an aerodynamic body, with an easily recognizable american look!

Yeah,I'm getting your point.

Couldn't agree more. These days the shapes get too boring and all look too much like each other. Not to mention technology overuse. Too much technogoly gets added, and all that can just simply break. No, when I have the money I buy myself a late '80s/early '90s Caprice. Perfect year when cars were build. Good looking shape, each brand its own design, not overrated shit added, good engines.
