Recording software that captures in-game GTA mods?

Featured Replies

I've been recording with OBS, and while I've had no real complaints, a huge problem is that it doesn't capture any of my in game mods.  I tried XSplit, it won't even capture GTA's video. What recording software do you guys (who record) use?   I really want to record the full experience.

OBS captures in-game mods just fine for me. Stuff like LSPDFR menus and the like. It's what a lot of LSPDFR youtubers use. Is that really not working for you?

I use GeForce Experience and it has some pretty nice recording software. GeForce experience has it's own menu that you can access whenever and it allows you to take screenshots, or record video. The process to upload a video is extremely easy as it connects to your Google account or YouTube account so you can upload the video right from inside the game. I never receive any FPS drops while recording and the videos always come out in HD. And yes, it shows all your mods that you have in the game just as you see them.

I really like it even though I seldom upload a video (publicly at least) but it still comes in handy for screenshots and other stuff.

If you want the full "experience" you should try GeForce Experience. After all, it does have the name in the title. :teehee:

Not at all.  I tried full screen, full screen windowed...it's refusing to capture the mods.  I have no idea why.

Thanks, if I can't figure OBS out I'll look into it.

I use Bandicam, it works, but meh.

Shadowplay uses variable frame rate which messes with my premiere pro.

D3DGear is good, I use it (when i record that is).. if you want to see the quality then check out my YouTube channel in my signature i have 2 videos up. The downside is it's either $30-$50 (can't remember the exact price) but it's well worth it.

I personally use Fraps, it can easily be found for free if you look in the right places :)

The downside of it is that it's very resource hungry, it's recommended to have the game on a hard drive, and fraps recording on a different one :(

That and the file sizes are absolutely MASSIVE. Fraps is like 15GBs for 2 minutes of footage.

Personally I'd say ShadowPlay and Dxtory are the best, although I don't know if either of them will pick up popup windows and such in-game, unless you set it to record your desktop or something.

I personally use Elgato with Elgato HD60.  It records using the capture card straight onto my Macbook Pro.  Zero resources are used from my Desktop as Elgato is recognized as a second display only.

What settings do you use?  I'm genuinely confused here.  I have it set to capture GTA, and that's it.  Full screen does nothing, either.
