Of course!

Right on. Good work.

I am not very well versed on Police Watercraft vessels in the United States, but often enough I see them use all blue lights in various of cities with ports. I don't know if they follow a national guideline on lighting, but do you think you can make a 2nd variation with all blue lighting ?

I don't care really, only made the textures. Although I know that BCSO boat has red-blue lights IRL.

I believe the reason for all blue lights on police/fire/coast guard/other emergency boats is because red is already used in navigational lighting on ships, and red emergency lighting might cause confusion as to in which direction the vessel is moving. Don't quote me on that though.

I'll just leave it here

Ventura County Sheriff's Dept

Guessing it's either not a law, or it's only a law in certain places. Might have something to do with the amount of ship traffic, as that boat does not seem like something used to patrol busy waterways. Then again, I don't know what US regulation is, over here emergency lighting in general is all blue, and as a result boats too have just blue emergency lights.

Emergency lights fall under state law.

I was actually looking into that, and came across this:  https://forums.firehouse.com/forum/firefighting/firefighters-forum/34931-fire-rescue-boats

Apparently, if a body of water is navigable, aka it has an ocean connection or goes through more than one state, it's covered by federal regulations, which state that law enforcement (including coast guard) are supposed to use all blue lighting, and other emergency services can use red/amber lights. If a body of water is not navigable, it's covered by state laws, which in SA probably means do whatever the fuck you want.

Make of it what you want, I don't really care that much about the final result, I'm already happy with the boats having lights to begin with :)

Maybe this'll settle the debate - the actual LACoSD marine unit in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wfcup41NG5E

You can catch a glimpse of the lights around the 0:20 mark - seems all blue to me. It also gives you a good view of the uniforms they're wearing (green polo shirts) - but then again that might be pushing the boundaries of realism a bit too far.

If you're gunning for realism and the LACoSD is your reference, you might want to tweak that paint scheme a little. From the reference pictures I could find, they only say "Sheriff" in black letters with the slogan written underneath (that would be your "A Tradition of Suppression") and the star, no mention of Los Angeles. And all their boats have a distinctive dark green stripe with the sheriff star on it near the bow. It's hard to find high resolution pics but here's one image that has all those features clearly visible:

Keep up the good work guys! It's mods like RDE that make me love this game. You've inspired me to do some lore-friendly skins of my own, maybe I could share them with you...

I based its design on a bit more modern unit lol. Could make a better livery but Yard is too lazy to map the Predator.

Thanks to the recently released MetaToolkit and a small new custom script, we can replace peds that spawn in certain places. You may remember that we have replaced the Davis Sheriff Station to be completely LSSD, and La Mesa Police Station has been retextured to a SAHP station, but LSPD officers and cars still spawned there. Now, we are proud to say that this is not the case anymore. The peds have been replaced thanks to decompiled and edited ymt Scenario files, and the cars have been replaced using a small script, as we could not replace them using ymap editing (we don't know the reason). With this change, we are removing the last of the jurisdiction-breaking issues. We are sure you'll love this change! Take a look for yourself (not all changes have been shown)!

so would this make the bsco addon obsolete?

Just now, OfficerFive0 said:

ah ok, my main question was if it was going to be integrated into rde

We have it as an optional addon called "The Sheriffs of Blaine". Same here, I don't want to make it obligatory due to the hate.

Wow. How come?

Sometimes I don't like ugly Tahoma font I used. Sometimes I don't like colors I used, especially that light blue. Sometimes I don't like the custom logo I made.
But most of all I don't like that BCSO is actually a mix of departments.
So I'm planning to create alternative BCSO fully based on the Ventura SD and using Cockstar's logo parts (Paleto Bay station wall art) someday.
