Breaking news - Shooting in Munich

Featured Replies

Apperently there has been an attack in Munich, with at least 10 injuries six deaths according to the swedish news site Expressen.

SkyNews stream:

BBC http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36870874

Who's behind this attack? The, now weekly, extreme islamists or a nutjob?

My thoughts and prayers are to the people of Munich and the LEO's that are helping Germany.

The difference is that we're not predominately trying to harm the civilians. Unfortunately in any strategic bombing, civilians will get harmed, it's a cruel reality and as I said, we're not specifical

How...exactly? I'm not familiar with Merkel's policies, at least not ones related to terrorism.

This does not only apply to her, but to every European leader/country that has an open border policy. Nothing good has come from the mass immigration of "refugees". It seems that terrorist attacks are becoming a regular thing in Europe, unfortunately.

The shooter wasn't a refuge....

Unknown at this point, but allegedly he was an 18 year old German-Iranian.

Ah sorry, thought that meant he was German with Iranian heritage

As someone who is currently living in Europe I can assure you it is not a "regular thing". Yes, there have been attacks but I can still walk around downtown and I am not worried about getting shot or stabbed.

Yes, IMO an open border policy is complete nonsense, its just asking for trouble. With this system, Europe is not a group of countries, it is technically one country. Merkel allowed the millions of refugees to just waltz into the country and do whatever they want. That system ain't working so good.

No, technically it is a group of countries. The open borders within the EU is actually a great thing and there are several economic benefits to having open borders. Obviously you have to decide what the balance is between these economic benefits and the security of your borders. Despite what the news is showing I still think these open border policies are good things.

How can you make such a large generalization without living in Europe? This kind of statement is truly dangerous, I hope you realize that... :(

We don't know if the shooter was a refugee, we don't know if he was an immigrant, and the terrorist attacks are becoming a regular thing because of ISIS, not because of the refugees, most, if not all terrorists so far were born european or got the nationality years before becoming extremists... The fact that you use such events to spit your hatred of foreigners truly disgusts me, that's why many people dislike the US... :(

You know what I meant. Terrorist attacks in Europe have spiked in frequency in the past 1-2 years.

I knew someone was going to call me hateful for making that post. It's not "hatred of foreigners", it's common sense. If you open borders to literally anyone, terrorists will walk right in. Even a small number of terrorists could easily kill thousands of people.

Yeah, but no... You're completely disregarding (on purpose?) my point...  Most, if not all attackers identified as terrorists were BORN EUROPEAN, or got the nationality YEARS BEFORE they did what they did... which shows it is completely unrelated to the immigration wave Europe had to go through. You're just pointing and shaming without a single proof (and common sense isn't one until you have one tangible example of what you're arguing). That's pretty much being hateful when you base your accusations simply on people's origins, situation and/or personal life without knowing anything about them.

If anything, the US is a country of immigrants. Are we terrorists? I think not... :)

The recent train attack in Germany was carried out by an Afghan migrant who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. He was a registered asylum seeker. Also, terrorism isn't the only concern. During New Years there were approximately 1200 women sexually assaulted in Cologne by men of African and Arab origin. When you open your doors like Europe has, you're inviting the good and the bad. Like I said, it's common sense, not hatred.

One train attack on how many attacks in total? And I think you're not aware that a great, great majority of those 'sexually assaulted' women were actually fake as police concluded, while most attackers were actually of german nationality... :)
