[WIP, REL] Better EMS

The mod is pretty much ready for release. I need to finish making some improvements to Custom Backups before I can release it though - I'm going to release Better EMS and the update to Custom Backup simultaneously as the two mods work with each other if both are installed. Stay tuned!

Beta testers, please let me know how things are going. Even if you've had no issues at all, that's valuable feedback! Shoot me a PM!

Quick update: still working on this mod, it's gradually coming together. Most recently have been working on the AI to coordinate keeping track of all the injured peds and the responders treating them.

Does the ped customization for XML file works? I'm having problems that my ped customization won't correctly show up as stated in my XML file. I was trying to make my paramedic wear a hat (prop), but they never show up.

does it work with RHP 40

Should, but I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Getting an error in the log when going on duty.

I assume that's just because of the newer RPH?

Also, did you see my suggestion for making ambulances take patients to the nearest delivery point? Adding a fire station to act as an ambulance dispatch point makes it so the ambulance returns there, and not the nearest actual hospital.

Yes, it's just a warning. It should work fine with RPH 0.40.

I saw your suggestion; it's a planned feature.

Thought so. Are prop and component settings from Custom Backup implemented? I can't seem to get them working for the fireman ped with helmet and accessories. And even though I set paramedics to always use the glove hands, sometimes they don't. Also, does it just choose one ped option per vehicle? I have paramedics set at a 25% chance on firetrucks, and I got one with all paramedics.

Good to know. Do you plan on making it dispatch just more ambulances as needed, or also fire vehicles, too?

Another thing for the future, when multiple unit dispatching is implemented, would be a setting to limit the number of vehicles that can be called from each station.

Also, should add the St. Fiacre Hospital to the list, it's the one right next to the El Burro fire station.

According to the "game theory", St. Fiacre Hospital (along with Eclipse Medical Tower and Portola Trinity Medical Center) is a private hospital where there are no ambulance drop-off points over there. You can add a spawn point in the BetterEMS.xml tho.

I know that it doesn't serve as a respawn point, but I swear St Fiacre has all the trappings of a full hospital. Those other two are for sure private facilities.

Edit: Nope, looks like I was seeing things, that is not a hospital with an ER.

There are explicit instructions on the download page on what to do if you need help. You must upload your ragepluginhook.log file as an attachment.

It will say that a dependency is out of date because it was compiled for RPH 0.39, and most people have updated to RPH 0.40. It should still work just fine though.

Progress update:

I have been working on a large number of requested changes and bug-fixes for the next release. It's not quite ready yet, but here's a glance at what's being added.

Implemented changes:

  • Ambulances will only take peds to delivery points now, meaning you could set fire stations or elsewhere as ambulance spawn points and still have them deliver to a hospital.
  • If your ambulance doesn't have the typical door configuration, no worries! In the next release, if the expected doors aren't there, the plugin will still work.
  • Patients and EMTs will now be immune to being arrested.
  • New API functions allowing plugin developers to set the outcome of a patient, including setting their probability of survival and cause of injury.
  • Improvements to patient transport API (used by Arrest Manager and other mods).

In-progress changes (may or may not make it into the next release, but being worked on):

  • Additional response options so that you can call just an ambulance if you want to. This has been much-requested, especially by non-US players.
  • Firefighters will detect if there is a fire nearby. If so, some of them will put on SCBA gear and fight the fire.
  • Integration with Computer+ and LSPDFR+, pending specific updates to those plugins' APIs.

Thank you so much to everybody who has downloaded the mod, enjoyed playing with it, and shared feedback. Looking forward to releasing the next update for you!

I'm expecting to release Version 1.1 next week. Here is a list of the major changes:

  • Fixed bug with ambulances without door indices 2 and 3 crashing the plugin
  • Added API to override death statistics
  • Improved stability of patient pickup API
  • Prevent patients and medics from being arrested
  • Ambulances will now select the nearest delivery point, even if spawned from a station with no delivery points
  • Fixed issue with canceling an inprogress response
  • Added command to stop response vehicle at current location and force medics to walk from there
  • Improvements to dependency version checking, to reduce frequency and improve clarity about "dependency out of date" messages

A beta release of version 1.1 is now available to beta testers from the download page. Scroll down past the description and you may see "Latest Beta Version" and a download link.

If you don't have beta access and you actively participated in the original beta, respond to the most recent PM we exchanged about the original beta, and let me know if you'd like access to the new beta version. If you are a plugin developer with 1 or more published LSPDFR plugins with at least 500 downloads, or if you are a YouTuber with at least 500 subscribers and have recent LSPDFR videos with significant numbers of views, or if you have donated $10 or more to any of my mods, you can also PM me to request access.

If you do not meet those criteria, please refrain from requesting beta access unless we really truly know each other. The public version will be released soon.

I have been getting a double dispatch...2 / FD...2 / EMS... Anyone else ?

It should prevent you from calling twice from the same location. Does this happen every time?
