Code 3 Callouts
"Attention all units, officer needs assistance. Shots fired. All available units, respond Code 3."

This is a plugin that I have been planning for ever since I started writing scripts for LSPDFR. Now that the LSPDFR API has come out, this idea can now become a reality!

The focus of this plugin will be to create a realistic experience where the player needs to do some actual police work. Police work is not always about flicking on the lights and sirens and flying down the road at 100 MPH. Nor is it always about pulling out an AR-15 and emptying a clip on a suspect.

In fact, most of the time, police work is all about dealing with people. Hearing both sides of the story. Figure out who is lying, and who isn't. Sometimes you have a helping hand when you have an eyewitness, and sometimes not. Or sometimes you will get eyewitnesses who contradict one another. Bob says the bank robber's car was blue. Jane says the car was red. Turns out, Jane was on her cell phone, and wasn't paying attention. Oh, and Bob was in the bathroom, so he didn't actually see anything. You later find out that the car was actually green.

It is YOUR job to determine what actually happened based on the evidence. Its time for your shift, Officer. Gear up, and move out.

Callouts

  • Assault
  • Intoxicated Person
  • Person with a Gun
  • Unknown Trouble
  • Hit and Run
  • Impaired Driver
  • Police Impersonator
  • Road Rage in Progress
  • Backup Required (Domestic Disturbance)

Callouts Coming Soon

  • Burglary in progress (Next update!!)

Future Callouts

  • Citizen reporting officer in danger
  • Suspicious vehicle, with occupant(s) inside
  • Domestic disturbance (May remove this, depending on how the above domestic backup call plays out)
  • Bank robbery
  • Officer requesting backup (potentially with one of the above calls!)
  • Kidnapping in progress
  • Shots fired
  • ...and more!!

(Not all of these callouts may be implemented. Plans are subject to change.)

Features

  • Framework & logic for managing each callout type
  • Dispatch audio
  • Altering suspect behavior based on the response of the officer
  • Ambient events!
  • ...more to come!!

Screenshots

The following screenshots are from the Assault callout. You need to get stories from the victim and the suspect! Figure out who is lying by speaking to the witness!

Check everyone's ID's, just so you know who you are talking to, and so you can run their names in your computer!

FinKone has done a video demonstrating an early version of Code 3 Callouts, and watch for a video (coming soon!) by Jeff Favignano as well!

Developer Information

This plugin will be designed to work alongside callout plugins created by other developers. I am already in conversation with LukeD (Callouts V), FinKone, and Straysify, and best efforts will be made by all of us not to step on each other's toes.

Any other developers that will be producing callout plugins are encouraged to keep in touch with all other callout developers to ensure that we don't unnecessarily duplicate any work.

I unfortunately do not have enough free time to answer every PM that I get. For issues with my plugins, please post in the comments section of the file, or it's forum thread. You'll get a much quicker response from me there than if you send me a PM; I do my best to respond to every question in the comments sections. For API/programming questions, please post them in the API Development forum, so all developers can benefit from the answer as well. Thanks!

Log file would definitely help. As for Traffic Control, yes, it will eventually. After I've got Code 3 Callouts to a point where I am happy with it, then I can take another look at Traffic Control.

So I've got one callout mostly done, and I'm just ironing out the dispatch audio. Once that's done, I'll be working on adding more callouts!

After some testing, we should see a prototype release in the near future!!

Yeah I didn't mean for everyone, sorry. but as for myself Im having issues, can't play with this plugin, others work for me but as soon as I plop in this one I crash as soon as I load into my save. I'll be keeping up with any updates though, I used it before it started crashing me and it was pretty neato.

for debugging purposes if you want, I can get any log(s) while crashing with it, to see if you can maybe pinpoint why Im crashing.

btw off topic but, do you plan on updating your Traffic Control mod? I find it pretty useful, but will it come out of beta with more stuff?

Log file would definitely help.

As for Traffic Control, yes, it will eventually. After I've got Code 3 Callouts to a point where I am happy with it, then I can take another look at Traffic Control.

By the way, I think I've finally squashed the last few bugs I needed to, for the next version of Code 3 Callouts. It still needs to go through testing, but expect an update very soon.

Oh, and there will be TWO brand new callouts, as well as updates to the existing ones!!

There will be an update coming soon, most likely next week, barring any major issues. I can't commit to a day, but it could come as early as Monday or Tuesday.

It will include a new callout, as well as a couple of new features.

All depends on how much free time I'll have, and how well testing goes.

Man your calls are amazing. I especially love Unknown Trouble one, because you never know what you gonna get! Once in Sandy Shores I got this call, and upon arriving I saw a typical city-looking girl (out here? In our Sandy?) That dumb bitch told me her Wi-Fi is not working! So I got really angry, got her ID and went to check. It turns out she's wanted by the city cops! A perfect picture: a dumb city celebrity commits a crime (speeding in her Cabrio? Or Hit and Run?), and flees Los Santos. Out here, in the desert, she thinks the city police won't get her, so she calls 911... And gets caught!

Another time I got a guy with a knife and had to arrest him. And just now this call led me to a dead body next to the Sandy Shores hangar, so I had to call the detectives! This is what Unknown Trouble really is: you never know!

One suggestion tho: maybe the detective should turn up in an unmarked Stanier, not in a Granger?

Quick update...

Code 3 Callouts is not dead by any means...I just haven't had time to work on it. I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things over the Christmas break and into the new year.

I can't commit to a date, but the next update will include at least one new callout, possibly two...maybe. Depends on how things go. And probably some bug fixes too...I need to look at my list again, its been a while.

I have updated the original post with three callouts that are upcoming.

  • Road rage incident in progress
    • A driver has called 911 to report someone who is aggressively chasing their vehicle
  • Backup Required (Domestic)
    • Another unit responded to a report of a domestic, and the two officers are currently dealing with the situation. However, they have requested an additional unit roll Code 2...that's you. Get to the scene, and provide backup for the two officers. You may end up not having to do anything...or you may have to step in to protect a brother or sister in blue...
  • Burglary in Progress
    • I haven't planned this one out yet, but there has been a report (either a 911 call or alarm system) of a burglar entering a residence. You need to respond quickly (but quietly!!), enter the house, and clear the residence...room by room. Watch out...the home owner (is there anyone home? Who knows?) might be hiding from the burglar too. Oh, and that burglar might be armed, and he's not going to be happy to see the police...

Ok, so, the road rage and domestic calls are both going to be in the next update. I am waiting for LSPDFR 0.3 to be released though, so I can incorporate any of the new features, if I can. The road rage call is almost done, but the domestic call needs some more work.

The burglary call will NOT be in this update, in fact, I have just barely started on it. However, it will be the next thing that I work on, after this next update is released.

Are you excited? I'm excited!! :woot:

VERSION 0.6.0 HAS BEEN RELEASED (HUGE UPDATE!)

  • REQUIRES VERSION 0.34 (OR NEWER) OF RAGE PLUGIN HOOK!
  • INCLUDES A NEW VERSION (v1.5.0.1) OF THE STEALTH.COMMON DLL!
  • ADDED AN AUTOMATIC INSTALLER
    • Don't worry, a manual option is still there for advanced users!
    • Automatic installer will detect the location of the user's GTA V install directory (AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!)
    • Automatic installer adds Code 3 Callouts to the Programs and Features screen of Windows
    • Setup program only supports 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10
    • Setup program requires .NET Framework 4.6 to be installed (which requires Windows 7 SP1 or later)
  • Added a Documentation file (PDF format)
  • Fixed the suspect driving styles, so they obey intersections
  • Assault - Added observation window showing physical condition of victim
  • Radio animation no longer freezes player position (anim also triggered for most radio transmissions now)
  • Changed the logic for finding suspect vehicles (Police Impersonator and Hit And Run calls)
    • You will now receive ALPR updates, and the suspect's precise location will be blipped for about 2 seconds
    • Dispatch will also give the approximate direction of travel
    • However, the suspect will no longer be "found" if you simply drive by him. You need to be close to his rear bumper long enough to look at his license plate number!!
    • Location updates will not be triggered if you are too close to the suspect...but don't worry, this only happens if you are literally right behind him
  • Impaired Driver - Removed vehicle damage for realism; Also changed his driving style, and made this callout compatible with the Breathalyzer mod
  • Intoxicated Person
    • Make suspect run away instead of being 'deleted' if player hits the sirens when too close (Credit to Jeff Favignano for finding this one!!)
    • Added a possibility for him to do something...interesting (aside from flee, or run at you with a weapon!)
  • Suspect vehicle colors will be randomized now
  • Assault - The stories/scenarios have been re-done, and they are much more realistic now
    • Suspect also spawns closer now
  • Police Impersonator - Suspect now wears clothing to make himself look like an officer
    • I tried to make him drive police vehicles (to make it look like his car has lights), but LSPDFR does not allow the player to pull over police vehicles
  • NEW CALLOUTS!!
    • Road Rage in Progress
    • Backup Required (Domestic Disturbance)
    • See the documentation PDF for details on these callouts
  • NEW FEATURE - Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) information for all callouts (See documentation!)
  • Player will now be alerted when arresting a suspect who had a weapon concealed
  • Peds will now turn to face the player, when the player arrives on scene (most callouts)
  • Hit and Run - EMS will now respond to the scene instead of already being there
  • Unknown Trouble - Added more error checking, and made the homicide detective more fluid
  • Ambient events now spawn further away, to prevent insta-popping (as seen in Jeff's videos!)
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes
  • Blip colors now conform to new standards agreed upon by some of the plugin developers

Check out this video for a sneak preview into the new Burglary In Progress callout!! Many thanks to @Bayareabuggs for testing that callout for me! You may see it appear in other videos by @JFavignano, @Zachary Houseknecht, and @Polecat324 as well.

FYI, most of the bugs seen in @Bayareabuggs' video have been fixed. There isn't much I could do to avoid the backup unit spawning inside the golf course, but I've added a key to speed their response up if they get stuck somewhere, and I've also made them a little smarter. They now will follow the player around with their guns up, aggressively, not like they're taking a walk in the park, lol.
