The LED light bars suck.... even with mods?

Featured Replies

How come LED light bars are so bad looking in this game?

I even installed the Corona mod and it still looks bad. The small light modules in the back and on the grill are fine, but the long lightbar on the top is just not glowing like it should..

I did use drunk police's mod and it looks nothing like that, instead of the nice even glow you have in your picture, it's more like a mess of starburst flares that are not evenly distributed on the lightbar

Okay! Use Drunkpolice's mod and don't install the graphics.ytd. Just use the visualsettings.dat - then it'll look exactly like on my screen. I don't like these starburst flares either.

Ok just tried that, and although the starburst is gone (thank god) it still doesn't glow EVENLY like your picture

What I mean is, if this is your light bar [---------------------] it all glows in your picture, while mine will show parts of it lit up but not giving off any glow, just a blue/red color. Does that make sense?

What you fail to realise is that the key problem lies with the models themselves.  There's 3 light dummies on each side of the lightbar.  One is visible from the front, one from the back and one from the left/right as appropriate.  This means that, despite there being 6 light modules visible from the back, there's only ever 2 flashing coronas visible from the back - there should instead be 6.

The difference between the lightbar and the other lights becomes immediately obvious.  There are two lights in the grille with two coronas (same as the lightbar).  Similarly, there are four lights mounted to the back windshield with four coronas (more than the lightbar).

No amount of visual mods will change this.

Yeah that's pretty much what I've been seeing, that sucks.

Do you think that would be able to be modified once modders can make custom models?

This is why I think the unmarked cruiser is the best police vehicle in the game, the lights all work realistically even the front windshield

use the parking lights for stainer, they look real nice. jefffavigano uses it and so do i, they look good. look at his lspdfr ep.1 for a preview of what they look like :D

I hate them. The back indicators shouldn't be glowing and they should turn off when you turn off the engine. I will never use those.

I updated the mod to version 4, see if you like it this time.

Ok tried the new version, looks much better!

Doesn't fix what I was complaining about but as sam mentioned that's more of a model problem and not something that's fixable for now.

Great job though I like the new corona, didn't like the starburst much.

Maybe you're like me and think LEDs look bad no matter what. :^)

Rotators, man! Gotta love them!

Have you heard of PowerArc before ? They are an awesome LED company that makes this, it packs a stronger awareness than everyday typical static LED lights :

I'm with OfficerLund.  There's no beating a nice halogen rotator.  I always use them or I go unmarked.  It is a shame we can't get the rotating light bar on the other vehicle models.

I look forward to a proper Arjent when, and if, that becomes possible.

Yes, but for now, nothing looks better than those whirlie lights and especially at night.  The coronas are awesome.
