7/8/15 Update - SCRIPTHOOK V CRITICAL ERROR

Featured Replies

So, After today (7/8/15) update, When I start up my game, It says " SCRIPTHOOK V CRITICAL ERROR Fatal Error: Unknown Game Version.

Now obviously I am aware that they update made some changes to the game aside from the DLC and now Scripthook isn't compatible. Is there an updated one that I could get a link to to fix this issue. This appears as soon as I click Play on Steam. Game does not load or anything. I appreciate any help at all.

  • He's not talking about downgrading the scripthook, he is talking about downgrading GTA V. You'd have to have had a backup of GTA V before the update to do that.

  • Update came out, just checked! http://www.dev-c.com/gtav/scripthookv/

Obviously ScriptHookV, RageHook and all the other hooks will have to be updated before they work again. Be patient.

For now you can go ahead and remove them from your game directory. The game will then boot up fine.

I just got this error too. I just saw the game updated on Steam, so the different versions must be competing together. Sucks because I just put on a new mod and was going to test it, when I got the error too.

Another option, apart from just uninstalling ScriptHookV and not starting RPH for now, would be to downgrade to another version. But for now it's best to just keep an eye on these two:

Ok, that makes sense... Damn! I was really hyped about trying out this new mod and then ERROR!

Someone knows how long we have to wait for a update of Rage Hook ?

As long as it takes, there is no guarantee as to how much time is required to update it.

That link was from 1st May 2015, we're now 2 months past that and mods we're all fixed within a few hours. Please read the actual article timestamp you're linking before posting it.

I wonder if Rockstar does this deliberately, in order to attempt to keep their game vanilla. I wonder if they like people modding their game.

Of course it's deliberate, they have to protect their GTA Online as it's a very managed game universe not just a roleplay server. They have every right to protect it.
If protecting online causes mods for single player to be broken for a short while then so be it. Rockstar have never officially supported mods or modding.

My game is REALLY screwed up.  So I took out the scripthook files now it just comes up: ERR_GEN_INVALID.

EDIT: NVM was stupid and accidentally deleted dinput8.dll :P

Please imagine I'm a moron (that's so easy to do) and suggest what folder is necessary to downgrade the game. I have whole Update folder backup, is that enough or do I need the whole root folder?

In theory the only thing you need to backup are the GTAV.exe, the GTAVLauncher.exe and the Update.rpf file. The when your game does update, you can simply replace the updated ones with the old ones and bam, you've just undone the patch.

But if you have to storage space it wont hurt to backup the entire game directory.
