Use mods and still be able to play online?

Recommended Posts

Hi, so I haven't bought GTA 5 for PC yet, and I'm just wondering, can you use mods in singeplayer and then when you want to use GTA:Online can you just remove the mods before you join? Or will you still get banned?

Instaban via SP mods.

Nice touch R*.

No, that is't confirmed at all. I'm using the latest scripthook by AB and I can play Singleplayer just fine, and remove it when I want to play Online and that works just as fine. A few people report that they are banned by this, but I am fairly certain that they did something else wrong.

Are you banned Vic, for example?

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

Not AFAIK. I was doing missions with Hystery yesterday.

But maybe it just applies to people cheating in MP with mods.

So, I'll have to disconnect my internet if I want to run with mods? Great. Never touching GTA Online ever.

Not necessary.

As ineseri said, it's unconfirmed.

Rockstar confirmed mods are welcomed during single player, it will auto disconnect you if you attempt to connect to multiplayer, or ban you if you don't d/c right away. So just make a list of everything you install, and then remove it from your GTA V directory before launching the game for a multiplayer session, then put it back once you're done.

There was a Scripthook that worked online until a recent update to the game. All public methods that allow scripts to run Online aren't being released (at least that I've seen while reading the Se7ensins thread), which honestly is a good thing. There was rampant cheating with lots of exploding ammo miniguns, invincible players, etc. It would be nice to have a online-capable trainer for car spawning, but people unfortunately abuse the hell out godmode and whatnot.

As unr3al said, R* told that mods are welcomed in Singleplayer. But if you use mods online, it can result in a ban, once R* notices it or someone reports you. The ScriptHook by Alexander Blade will automatically disconnect you, once you try to go online. But I wouldn't rely on it. So if you have mods installed, make sure you remove them manually from your game folder, just to be sure. R* however didn't say something whether or not it's allowed to use mods online in a private lobby, just with your friends. I think, they will come up with a solution for this, maybe a big fat "!!!ATTENTION, MODS ALLOWED IN THIS LOBBY!!!" for some lobbies. All we can do for now is sit back and wait until R* answeres that question.
