Download Section Frustration

Featured Replies

Let me start off by saying that I love the new site...but with one exception.  A part of the download section.  On the old site, there was a tab specific for LCPDFR API downloads.  That made it very easy to go and see a particular file has been updated (among other things).  With the new site, API downloads are grouped together with ALL script and data file modifications and so it's more difficult to just filter for the API downloads.

Is this something that's easy to change?

Thanks!

I guess the Assistant Community Manager can try breaking the site in an attempt to fix it :P I'll check with @Cyan if this is something we want to re-add.

Yes, API modifications are grouped in the same category, but there are filtering options on the right hand side to get to see just API modifications...

The fact that there's a filtering doesn't change the fact that this is not a progression but a regression in the website's functionality. The more someone has to click, the less the website is easy to use. Before, we had to do one click to see this particular section, now we have to actually look for the filtering and make sure it's set on that particular thing.

It was ALWAYS a filter. We've never had API modifications and other script modifications seperated by category or anything else.

What I mean is that before, it could be spotted right away, and in one click once I was in the download section. Now it requires two clicks. One for the scripts & data, and then for the filter. It might be only one more click, but it remains a regression compared to the previous website. In my opinion, when a website is changing, it should be for the best, as in improving it, not making it harder to navigate.

I can also agree that while I do enjoy the new look of the website, It is noticeably harder to navigate and find particular things. Where as before I knew where everything was, and how I needed to get there.
