How to purchase vehicles?

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I have a quick question.  What websites do you use to purchase models for in game use?   I don't want to buy one that's not going to work and my google searches have turned up nothing.  Any ideas on websites?

I know I'll need to convert it/do other stuff, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there!

Thanks!

-EDIT-
Do either of these models work with GTA IV?

I know they aren't PIs but I want an idea of what I can work with.

none of em works, the second might but its gonna be 200k polygons i think

That is in fact incorrect. Either will work, just not out of the box.

The first will probably be better, and easier on your computer, due to the lower amount of polygons. You will, however, have to convert it for it to work; it could take some time to learn to do so, and indeed to do so.

Do you know of any sites that have a 2013 FPI sedan? I can't find any anywhere. I'm assuming the only other option is to scratch build one.

Thank you for your help!

I have had a look, and I can't find any specific 2013 police interceptors, you're best bet would be to try and find a different year police interceptor (Or maybe even a Ford Taurus, seeing as their similar and you can edit it into a police version later) Or, you'll have to model a new one from scratch.

You can buy a SHO, but it'll require a lot of work for an FPI version (Example: new bumper, edit the tail lights, grille & interior). IR released an FPI Sedan to another site, that one's pretty good. If you're gonna go for it, good luck!

If you're looking to purchase models you should try http://humster3d.com/.  You can have them lower the poly count for you, not sure if it costs more but it works better than trying to optimize it yourself.

The problem with Humster3D is that if the OP wanted to release a converted version, he is not allowed to according to Humster3D's Licensing Agreement. If he doesn't plan to release, it's fine.

Thank you everyone for your responses! I've got 3ds Max now, so I'm going to look into purchasing a 2013 model and editing it.  If anyone knows anything about editing models and is willing to help a guy out, please let me know!  Otherwise, I'll see you all in 20 years when I give up!

3DSmax is a very good, and powerful program, but very complicated.  I model fromm scratch with that program daily and still learning things.

Follow some youtube tutorials, that may help.  Optimizing is time consuming for sure, although not that complicated to do.  You need to know how to play with Editable Polygons and have to know how to convert a model into an editable poly as well (very easy to do).  The tutorials I have seen assume you know the basics, like view ports configurations and image configs, standard primitives, modifiers, materials and mapping, but you can probably find one that teaches the basics of the program.

Anyhow, good luck!  I may be able to help if my schedule lightens up.

Good day,

I got 3DS max, so I'll start editing a car when I purchase one.  I've been looking at some tutorials and it doesn't seem to terrible.  Thank you very much!
