Anyone here play OMSI 2?

Recommended Posts

Taking a shot in the dark here since I doubt anyone besides me is interested in these mass transit simulators, but does anyone here have or play OMSI 2? I've been thinking about picking it up, but I've heard awful things about its performance and crippling bugs. However, it has been out for 2 years now, has any of it been fixed? Squirrel's playthrough of it seems to suggest otherwise, but does anyone else have any first hand experience? Everything else I find, besides Squirrel's videos, is horribly dated.

I bought it fairly recently thinking that it was going to be as good as ETS 2. Sadly, it isn't. My G27 won't work with it for some reason and I always get a load of errors. One of the most annoying things is the texture loss. It makes me cry.

If you are thinking about getting OMSI 2, make sure you get it in a sale as it is not worth however much it is on Steam.

I have not played it either,  but I have tried to follow news about it.

I think Boeingtriple7 has given a pretty good summary.  The only big stinker was the initial steam release.

Huge uproar on steam forums on how terrible it was.  This has been resolved since.

I'll just say sometimes graphics do matter a lot.  If you are desperate for a city bus sim,  then go read a few more reviews and decide from there.

My personal feeling,  if ETS2 looked like OMSI 2...  I might not have purchased Euro Truck.  ETS2 has set a standard for me and I don't think I will accept less from "driving" sim games.

I just began playing it this week. I love it thus far. Pretty cool mods, but there is a definitely a lot to learn. It is very realistic as far as the noises and physics go. Graphics and performance wise though it is shit. I would recommend it though. I will also be uploading of video of me playing it soon(:

OMSI 2 is an amazing game in terms of simulation, especially considering it was only made by 2 people. Everything in the bus is simulated, you can press all the buttons. It is actually very stable for me, so I'm not sure where that is coming from. It might crash after playing like 4 hours straight... When it first released it was very unstable, and OMSI 1 was always unstable, but OMSI 2 works fine for me. It does require a good system though, specifically CPU wise. The graphics are not the greatest, but the game makes up for that in the simulation. My G27 works fine - you just have to set it up properly in the settings.

It won't be updated anymore since the two guys had a business dispute and disbanded the "company."

NicolaiB loves it too.

"OMSI 2 is the best simulator I've ever played. It oozes passion and commitment from the developers. It is amazing in every way. It has atmosphere and character like nothing else I've every played. It's so wonderful to just sit down and take it in."

(the patch he said he had to apply shouldn't be needed anymore, the game was substantially updated shortly after the video to make it much more stable)

Ahh, OMSI. It is completely cpu dependent, try to run it with a super good gpu and a mediocre cpu and it runs like crap. Theres a few tricks to make it run better, like using cffexplorer to edit the exe. Be prepared to:

1. Become very familiar with google translate as you roam the official forums.

2. Begin to grasp the german language

3. Have something do for 5 minutes whilst the map loads.

4. hate AI cars

5. get annoyed at passengers

If you don't feel like taking a risk with your money, try out OMSI 1 which is non-steam (i.e do some enteprising google searches >.>). Pretty much the same, no artic buses though.

Mods I recommend are: alterr's buses (the guy is a bus making machine), O405N^2, bus, the Spandau expansion maps.

Addons : Hamburg is a must. The 3 generations addon is also really good. O305 and Vienna are meh.

P.S if your using a keyboard, the best thing ever is the 'reset steering wheel to center button' (turn off automatic centering, it sucks in practice), god why doesn't ets2 dont have this?

I had lots of fun with Omsi 1. But i never bought Omsi 2 tho. Because it's unstable as hell. And as far as i know, it still is.

The Fact that most stuff is in german dosen't bother me since i'm from there :D

But i get that it might be a big turn-off for lots of people.

Woah, a lot more of you play OMSI than I thought. I guess I'll pick it up during a Steam sale seeing as how $40 is a bit steep for me at the moment. Thanks for the input guys.

Get it from this website... The Youtuber "Squirrel" sent me here and it's about half the price as on Steam, so are all their other games. I've been buying from this site for a while now and have never looked back.

Search for OMSI 2, and you should find it for about $25.00

As much as I like Squirrel, I think I'll just wait for the Steam sale. Fraudulent keys are very common on G2A. Just a few days ago, it was involved in selling FarCry 4 keys that were

Put 400 hours into it, bought it when it came out, worth it.

You need to know what your doing to really enjoy it though.

And also have a good CPU, for some reason I was REALLY lucky. Never had any issues with the game. It's basically pot-luck.

Although not having an SSD means you can play LCPDFR until it crashes before the map loads.

Have fun :)
