  • Islam never seems to stop giving, huh.   Was about to make a thread about this, very interesting. It seems to be connected to an arrest of someone involved in terrorism earlier in the day.

LMAO!   Sorry, don't mean to go off topic but the fact that you're entire profile screams USSR and it's followed by a Canadian flag, hilarious dude.

  • So nice of you to only mention the english speaking countries when talking about the "developed world" ...   Neither religion has brought anything materially valuable to the world. Religions are abo

It didn't seem like this was a planned intervention to me. It seems like more hostages escaped and police moved in right after that.

I just hope all of the hostages are unharmed and it was the suspect who received CPR by that tactical police officer.

That was like 30 seconds of continuous gunfire or something - doesn't seem right at all.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."

Could've been a flashbang. There are flash grenades that flash more often and give off a lot of sound to distract the suspect(s). But there was definitely a lot of gunfire.

Would certainly like to hope so anyway.  If it was that much gunfire then something went seriously wrong you would have to assume.

ABC says that one or two people might have been shot, there may be casualties, but the media doesn't for sure at the moment.

There definitely was somebody receiving CPR (so that confirms what I saw earlier), but it is not known if it is the hostage taker or a hostage or if he/she is still alive.

NSW police just confirmed that 3 people died, the hostage taker, one male and one female hostage. 3 hostages were injured, their conditions are not life threatening though. One police officer was also injured during the confrontation, he suffered a wound in his face, but his condition is not life threatening.

Please don't mix Islam and extremists.

Islam is a religion, like christianity, catholic, judaism.

Extremists are twisting religions to fit their vision of the world. There are extremists in other religions too (like the crusades for the christianity).

It's easy to mix both and accusate a whole religion and people for the acts of just a few crazy dudes. And I'm saying that while being atheist.

Though almost every issue in the world today involves Islam.

I feel bad for Muslims who are persecuted or are viewed as the same as these extremist

If the Qu'ran didn't strictly tell Muslims to kill and terrorize those who are not Muslim, I'm sure they wouldn't be persecuted as often to be honest.

Anyone knows if this is an Islamic State-organized attack or not?

It was not. Man Haron Monis was an iranian asylant who has previously been involved with the police and in court for assisting in his wive's murder and in 40 cases of sexual assault. It seems like the police doesn't think he was anyhow involved with IS.

And guys, let's keep this all civilized and not make this topic about islamophobic statements. CriminalKillaz is right when he says that the Qu'ran tells people to kill people who don't share the islamic beliefs but most muslims don't go around killing innocent jews or christians. In fact, they're killing each other, a massive religious war is going on in the middle east because different groups have different interpretations about the texts they're reading. I am not a big fan of islam myself, but most of the muslims don't support terrorist acts. I can't understand those, who willingly join IS to commit crimes that are exactly the same that Hitler did. Genocide.

But I am strongly against being hostile towards a group of people because of how they look (arabs). So I support the Twitter trend #I'llridewithyou that started right after the hostage situation to prevent these cases of open hostility towards arabs.

My class actually talked about this and we found out that it never really says go out and kill non-muslims. Some of the verses were taken out of context in modern time and these radicals use them as a reason for their actions. They were originally intended for Muslims to protect themselves and fight oppressors and terrorist who were attacking them.

And to most Muslims in the middle-east, these "oppressors" and "terrorists" who "attack" them are the western developed world. Muslims feel that the developed world is a sinful and evil world, and they feel the need to terrorize us because of this. I've talked to Muslims who agree the Qu'ran strictly tells Muslims to kill and terrorize those who go against the teachings of Allah, and those who do evil; Which they believe the west is evil.

I have no problem with ethnicity, nationality, race, skin color, sex, nothing. I don't care if you're a White woman or a Black man. Doesn't matter, we are all human.

What starts to bother me, is when religion teaches hate and terrorism for the sake of their own "safety" and well-being. People constantly use political correctness and religion as a blunt excuse to cover up the hateful actions of a group of people. Islam has yet to do the world any good on a significant level, and Islam is on every continent. Look at Afganistan and Iraq, look at Nigeria and Somalia. Look at Australia now, look at 9/11. These people are out to kill us, and political correctness and "non-stereotypical" philosophy are covering their tracks.
