What the heck is going on with the grill? 

It is the new EcoBoost grille that comes with the 2015 Utility's 

Can't take my eyes off of the construction guy in the back LOL.

I think I just threw up a little

If I helped, I would appreciate you pressing the [color=#00ff00]green arrow[/color] to the right of your screen! 

I thought so too (about the grille) but it's just the angle and lighting that makes it look transparent, you can tell otherwise after close examination.

 

Although, details like the headlights don't really bother me.
