It´s possible. Every add-on car can also work as replace but it´s a bit tricky on police cars because of some extras not spawning correctly.

(in this case the mirror lights won´t spawn together, only one - but if replaced in a police car slot you can edit in the garage when going on duty)

To do:

- Copy the folder of the car with dlc.rpf into your main gta5 directory

- start open IV and open the dlc.rpf folder with it, search for the car files and extract them to a destination, where you can find it later

- do the same with the carvariations and carcols

- replace the car you like (I think you know how)

- the carcols must now be added into the carcols.ymt (I recommend a tutorial on how to do this, it´s challenging when never worked on it before)

  (just watch the layout of the sirens, the start and ending tags, it´s not magic)

- insert the carvariations into the folder you use (I use carvariations in mpchristmas2)

- dont´forget to rename all the lines from "fpiu" into the car you want to replace

hi, i tried what you said but the dashboard needles are yellow  and noit blue like the real one, do you know how to fix this, i put ther caarvariations into mpchristmas2 but the dials are still yellow

Hi,

this is mostly related to model itself. You have to look into the .ytd file and find the dashboard texture. If the needles are yellow, just change the texture into blue.

But I´m not quite sure if these are illuminated in blue so maybe that´s a side effect of being a replace instead of addon because not all functions are given as supposed to. I don´t use first person view so I didn´t care about this. It may also be that the gauges don´t work if they are supposed to do as Addon, because some informations are missing for the car to work in game 100%. I don´t have needles in the gauges of this car.....

actually, the speedometer works but the dash is not illuminated, its not bright like in the pics posted, how to change the color in the ytd ?

you open the .ytd file via openIV and find the gauges_em texture. export it and edit this with a texture program (Photoshop or something)

If you make it darker so you can see the texture better, gauges should be orange in your case. Somehow change this to blue (don´t know exactly how to do this, you have to get used to a program and try a bit to get that effect) If you make the textures darker (less transparency) it should also be brighter in the game itself.

Depends on color intensity. Therefore the taxi signs are so bright if you use light enhancement mods. If you make this texture less color intensive and darker they won´t shine so bright, you know. A bit difficult to understand but you mess around with it a bit you will find out at some point.

Took me a few years of modding and editing the game and I´m still learning... 😉

Hi, amazing work, and I absolutely love using this car! I just want to though if there is a way to increase the saturation of the colors of the lightbar. As in red is more red and blue is more blue, I am trying to find a way where I can specifically do it for this car, without modifying the color graphics of the whole game or using shader mods, otherwise it will also mess up other car packs I have.

Love your car that I actually used it to replace another explorer that wasnt as good! 😂

Is there a simple way to replace the taurus and make it police3? I'm new to all of this honeslty and I dont really understand carvariations.meta, carcoals, etc. the only thing I finally (and barely) understood is to change the handling. Can anyone help if you have a simple way to do it or at least recommend a youtube tutorial. Many thanks!

just installed (i have used this before and came back after playing gta 5 again). it wasn't like this before, what do you guys think is the problem? my version is with the latest "agents of sabotage" dlc

note: i didn't change anything, i just copy pasted the files (non els version) + added the dlc list thing via OpenIV and my expectations are what the preview pictures are presented
