Hey guys, now yes I know it's been going on for years and is a ongoing process, but I'm in in high school and there's just too many students walking around sagging their pants male and female. So why do people continuously do this?

People sag their pants because they're ignorant, and feel that it makes them appear more "gangster" and "hoodrat". If you ask me I think that it's retarded, and absolutely disgusting to see. Whenever I see someone sagging, I want to tell them where it came from. But then I realize that they're probably stupid, and won't understand.

My class was shown a video by my teacher on jail and all that good stuff, people still do it outside of jail, weird.

Well, is that true or you're joking? I always thought it just mimics prison clothes style in general, since they wear no belts inside. 

Me being a Sophomore in HS i see this all the time. I can see why you want to know. I personally don't sag , maybe a little but i don't go overboard like alot of people do. but that's it. In high school people are just trying to fit in. Alot of people say it comes from prison meaning i want to have a butt buddy, other people say this might be a sign of an alpha male in a gang. Another reason they sagged in prison was the lack of belts. They didn't want them to kill them self while serving in jail so they took them away. This dragged out into hip hop cultures over those years of it originating in jail. Young males saw rappers doing it and then the sagging culture was made. People say its gay to sag but its not. Gays do it, str8, bi, you name it. Teens in HS think of it as having swag or being cool. Some teens just do it to fit in. Point is, if you want to express your self by doing it go for it, just don't over do it. Just do it around friends or at school. I can see it being rude to do it at formal events but not with friends. Dont be discourage over what other people think of you. If you have any other question just shoot me a PM:).

And Pop Culture now a-days and in the generation I've grown up with is absolutely retarded for lack of a better word.. I Must be ahead of the Curve because I've asked this question to myself since I Was Middle School..  But then again we're talking about the Same Culture that Uses the (dumb) word YOLO as an excuse to do really Ignorant and dumb crap and the Same Culture that Idol's Some bratty Teen Canadian that wont stop doing dumb crap and getting in trouble with the law (even though he gets away with it cause.. you know... celebrities always get let off)
