They use both, like the majority of countries. I, for one, never learnt the Imperial system as Australia is entirely Metric.

Both are commonly used in Canada. In terms of construction, Imperial units are mostly used. Even though we use Metric, we still say things like 2x4 etc...

All food products have both measurements. I'm used to Fo when it comes to baking frozen pizzas and other stuff.

My dad lived in Australia, and remembers the change from Imp. to Met. very well. As soon as the change happened, everything went smoothly, like buying groceries. And of course the change to $ helped too.

I'd say the metric system is much easier to learn compared to imperial. All you need to know is a few rules, and you're set.

I am guilty of using the imperial system sometimes, like my height, weight, and sometimes distance. I use miles because most highway speed limits are 60mph, and when calculating time (in 60's as well), it saves a lot of math. 100kmh is a bit clunky in real life situations.

There is a Librarian Somewhere in Texas right now with no one asking him/her where to find a book on the Metric System...  Sad.. :(

This is basically everything you need to know about the metric system.

And while we're on the topic of units, I wish everyone just used the same damn system, especially in the medical field. You have medication dosages that are ordered using either the metric system, the imperial system, or the two most useless systems ever: household and apothecary.
