Judge Dredd Lawgiver (WIP) for GTA IV

Featured Replies

hello everybody

i am thinking about releasing these two models that i made personally myself as weapons for gta iv.

- lawgiver from 1995 judge dredd film

- lawgiver from dredd 3d (2012)

but before i do i want the community to give me their thoughts on whether or not these would be a good add for the community downloads page.

i am a new modeler that has made models but never released them before.

btw if anyone wants to know these models are both lawgivers from the judge dredd movies.

edit can an admin please make the topic lower and upper case

also if anyone would be willing to uv-map these models i would be greatful because i tried to uv map them and it didnt come out good.

Not bad, a Judge uniform would be awesome too.

i was thinking the same thing. although i dont know how to do uniforms or make custom skins like that.

That would be cool! Somebody should make a speech line that when you press a button, it goes, "I am, THE LAW!"

if someone is willing to do the script because i dont know a thing about scripting i would include it with my guns.

but then i have another concern i wanna activate the safety feature that the lawgivers have where if anyone else but a judge uses them their hands explode.

I'm not judging you or anything, but just saying:

Judging from the looks of it, YES PLEASE!

These would definitely be a great add for the Community downloads page.

As stated in prior posts, it would be also cool to have a Judge uniform (ped/player).

ok im gonna release it but before i do i have some questions for you guys that need answering.

first and most important: these models were made in SKETCHUP PRO.

so when i go to convert them will the skins i put in SKETCHUP convert with the model and still work?

second: do i need to animate these models for the game to properly recognize and use them?

third and last question: will i be able to input a script for the feature i mentioned that will work in tandem with the gun?

I have converted models from Sketchup to Zmodeler for testing in IV in the past. I have had no problems, and the models work perfectly!

I haven't converted a Sketchup model with textures in the past, but this video shows how:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sX2TaaT4tE

Yes, the video is in Spanish, but it's fairly easy to follow even if you don't know that language.

I can't really help you with the gun rigging as I'm only a car modder and a texture artist, but I don't think you would need to animate the models. I believe you may only need to setup a few nodes or something (again, I can't confirm this because I don't model weapons for IV).

I would ask for support/advice from someone who does work on IV weapons.

Good luck!

Looking good! :p

thnks carry

this is my first mod so i hope this goes well and will work when i actually use the model myself in gta iv to test it.

Edit: removed last comment on this post because it's too absurd and not doable.

However I do have a question for anyone willing to answer it. I have tried to export these models in zmodeler but they won't export and it always gives an error even though I have uv mapped it. Is there a specific program I have to use for weapon skinning and importing/exporting? If someone could tell me I would really appreciate it. Thnx

Murphy, you're already a special cop. Everyone knows you can't be a Judge and a Robocop at the same time.

Random trivia for the day; RoboCop's creation was inspired by the Judge Dredd comics. There have also been some Judge Dredd and RoboCop crossover comics produced.

Cheers.

Haha, I guess you're right. What difference would a new badge, helmet, and gun make though?  [just kidding]

Wow, that's pretty cool! I didn't know that detail at all prior to reading this topic.

Wow, these weapon models are awesome! If there were uniforms to go with it in the future that would be just awesome! For some reason people haven't really ever done mods like this for GTA IV.
