My WIP thread.

My current project is this Charger:

Updates to the model since I released Grayson and Dixie is:

Interior completely rematerialed, new seats taken from Caine's unlocked '05 Charger.

Reworked headlights using parts from Forza 4 Charger SRT-8.

Reworked front grilles.

The car in the photo has a Setina PB-400 with a PB-5 fender wrap.

There's four Whelen LIN3 modules in grommet mounts on the pushbar, two on the actual pushbar and one on each fender wrap (mounted on top of the pushbar)

Whelen ION-V Mirrorbeams

Federal Signal (sorry) Arjent on the roof, may be replaced by a Justice.

Rear facing LIN3 modules in grommet mounts on the bootlid.

  • I'm planning on creating skin packs that will be compatible with all the models I have, I'll use those packs on my releases as well as uploading them to the site which will hopefully make them compati

  • Another quick update, the only remaining thing to fix are these odd normals, something I have done to the model has greatly exacerbated it as it is present on the base Charger model.

  • Thanks, another project:         I might revive these two skins once the two Chargers are released:

I modified the way the rear lights is set up on the 2011 Charger, here's what it looks like now:

The real life Charger has combined brakelight and indicators, however that's not possible on this model.

I personally think that this is the best option, the tail-lights and brake lights are set up the way they are on the real life Charger as you're more likely to see those lights unless you use lil-rich's indicator mod.

It's very likely that I'll have to cancel the two Chargers and give up on the base model itself. Zmodeler seems to change random things that are either difficult or downright impossible to fix or even notice. Some polygons had their materials removed, the driver side door and boot was moved without me using the move tool.

I updated the model over the week, I added new seats and reworked headlights and taillights. At some point the default material ended up corrupting, resulting in a material error upon export, it also adds a material called "vehicle_generic_small_specmap gta_default" that keeps appearing regardless of what I do, the error appears regardless of what I do, re-importing the model and deleting the material doesn't do anything.

I have tried just about everything to fix this from merging or importing to a new scene or into a car model that works fine (impala, CVPI, Tahoe). The error keeps appearing regardless of what I do.

It's at the point where I'm insane if I carry on. The model looks fine and works well on its own, but there's absolutely no way of knowing if adding just one piece of equipment will render it useless, I've spent many hours on it so far, I honestly should have let the model go much, much earlier.

The lesson learned here is that you cannot make something good from something bad, the unlocked R/T model I used was awful. Every material was set up wrong and it has a bunch of mesh errors. Don't for one second think that this was unintentional, the base model was provided deliberately broken.

Final update on the Chargers, they should be released on Saturday. I just made a few changes regarding the tyres, the car now rides higher, especially at the rear in order to look more like the real versions showed in the videos posted here.

The old tyres are on the left car, the new tyres on the right car:

Another little fun project that might turn out good:

The rear Vertexes are set up in a way that will provide more visibility when parked at a scene, the "eyebrows" will outline the rear shape of the vehicle in addition to the flashing tail-lights and the Liberty.

At the front, there's four ION's in the grille, the top row is set as primary lights and the bottom row is set as secondary lights which looks nice in-game. There's also two Vertexes mounted beneath the headlights on either side of the car to increase visibility at off-angles, particularly when clearing intersections.

Coming this weekend, pack contains 3 different car models, 36 skins and a number of light colour configurations.

This is so awesome. Can't wait.
