Imageshack now for pay?

Featured Replies

I just accessed to my imageshack account to upload some picture when I find a banner that says:

"From now until February 1st upgrade your account for just 1$ per moth for the entire year"

Does it mean now every services in that site is for pay?

I don't have the less intention to spend any money in such a simple service like a online image hosting is but I have plenty of pictures uploaded there which are linked here as well as in other sites and if they get deleted they all will be fucked up...

I think they mean that you have that option, not that you have to do it.

This.

A lot of hosting sites often have premium packages for added space and some other features depending on the site.

I haven't used ImageShack for a year or two now due to their continued restrictions.

Well, I accessed today my account of Imageshack and seems that it's actually turning a payment service, though once the trial time is over the pictures and account will stay up. So be advised.

Any other similar (free) site picture uploading site you'd recommend me to use instead?

I have not tried photobucket, but the other two websites work brilliantly! In my opinion they work way better than imageshack!

I've been thinking for a while about creating a Flickr account, though for real life pictures. I might use photobucket, then. Thank you for your help :)

Why would you ever use any image hosting other than Imgur. Imgur is BY FAR the best host.

- Can you have private galleries just like Imageshack?

- Are your pictures deleted after x time?

I use imgur for uploading random shite, but I like to have organized my more serious things.

From what I know, it's all public.

Taken from the Imgur FAQ:

First Question:

Your uploaded images are anonymous. They cannot be searched and only those people with whom you share the URL (or your public images URL) will be able to see it. However, once you share images or albums on social networks or submit them to the gallery, your username will be shared and the image will not be anonymous.

Second Question:

As long as images are getting at least 1 view per 6 months, they will stick around forever. If an image does not receive even 1 view in 6 months, it may be removed to make room for new images. Images on pro accounts will never be removed.
