This gif should just play on loop for banned members...   On a more serious note, that's really cool! Do you know how they did it? It'll be neat to create my own gifs with sound.

I have no idea I guess its a new type of file called .SWF that loops and acts just like a gif. You can post it basically anywhere and it automatically starts playing.

OH MY GOD. I have a good idea. Why don't we make a banned user's name with a strikethrough, make it clickable and then have it direct to this! :D

SCNG FTW!!

None of these are .gifs :P  Yes they look like they are some kind of animated thing, but if you look closely OP's gif is not a gif, it's a file that uses adobe flash player (check with right click), and Jewish_Banana's gifs are just gifs with a video next to them that was started at the same time.

There not videos, because a video is usually a windows play file. This is just a regular picture file. If I would post a "Video" right here it wouldnt play. Now this new type yes new it plays almost any where you put it.

You can play videos in a web browser, it's just that it's not permitted on the site since the code will not be embedded. Videos do now need to be played in windows.

The only reason the "video" in the OP is played is because it's a .swf file and has been embedded in the post which has been allowed on the site.

Just want to point out that it's not a GIF file. It is impossible to have sound in a GIF file, it's not supported (at least not yet) within the file formatting.

This, as you mentioned, is a SWF file. A SWF file, or Shockwave Flash file, uses (usually) Adobe to display in browsers. They are commonly used for simple games and short video clips.

I'm actually fairly surprised it works in the forum, most forums disable SWF files.

Cool find though! :D
