Eight generation games focusing on multiplayer

Featured Replies

As far as we know all next gen games like Need For Speed,Call of Duty,The Crew, and Watch Dogs are focusing on multiplayer espicially Call of Duty which was known to have the best story mode but Call of Duty Ghost story mode was just a step backwards from Black ops 2 since they were focusing on the dynamic maps of multiplayer.Watch Dogs also has a new single player gameplay experience where a player can visit your single player gampelay making it a multiplayer game instead.Developers are mostly focusing on multiplayer on this generation of video games so share your opinions if its good developers are focusing on multiplayer more in this generation of video games while just putting simple story mode experience.

  • I think it's a damn shame that some potentially good stories goes to waste because the developer decided to add MP into the mix. I'm not a fan of MP in some games (like watch dogs, for example).

I'm more of a "enjoy-a-good-story-and-gameplay" kind of guy, maybe a little biased against multiplayer. Just my opinion.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

However I do agree, just take a look at the BF series, they are just a mess in single player.

well their is this developers that are known to have the best best best single player gameplay experience they are called''Quantic Dreams'' the people behind Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls but their games are only exclusive to Playstation only they are making another game available for the PS4 only cant wait for their next game

i know right? its like there single player is just last minute of development

The multiplayer function is great, but they focus WAY too much on it. Sure its nice to play with a friend every now and then, but now online gaming practically dominates the actual game, leaving very little enjoyability to be found in single player.

I just want split-screen back. screw this online stuff. I barely play online because of the same repeated gamemodes in every game. I want to be able to play on the same console, on the same TV with friends and family that come over. I'm tired of spending double the money just so I can play with my brother on LAN and have a good time. It saves me an additional $60 dollars for a game and $300 for a console. I feel like MP is just taking away from a good SP experiences. I remember when games had an amazing storyline, lots of missions and a really good amount of hours to it, and once you beat it you can go back and beat it again and again and again. Now games you can beat them in under 10 hours, completely forget about SP and jump over to MP which is all the same to me, pick either deathmatch, free-for-all, team deathmatch, capture-the-flag.

just my two cents.

This. I've never really been keen on multiplayer games.

It's just like GTA V's story mode it's crap but when u go on GTA Online its alright.

Are you trying to start a flame war? ROFL anyways I played offline 360 for years until I got 'net in late 2011. I miss the days of splitscreen games. Tom Clancy games are good for shooters, but everytime my buds come over I have to fire up the decrepit PS2 and run NFS Carbon just to have a 2 player racing game.

I'm not trying to flame war lol. I'm just proving that more time should of been spent in making the GTA V Story Mode better like on GTA SA instead of trying to make GTA Online better than the actual game itself.

Multiplayer keeps you playing their game longer so you don't forget to buy the next one in the series. Simple as that. You can only get so many replays out of single player games.

i'm just saying that they must also focus a little work on single player i'm not saying they must focus more on single player and screw multiplayer no no no i'm not trying to say that

I'd say it really depends on the game. Some games or game concepts are better left in the Singleplayer area, others should get some healthy balance, other games should have a good multiplayer. At least the way I see it. Often, you can't really have both "amazing great singleplayer AND multiplayer" simply because it depends on resources, focus and time in development.

And I guess some like to focus on MP and neglect SP simply because content in MP is more dynamic by nature but - depending on the game type - also lacks the nice story, twists and therefore immersion.

but if the game is really good at MP  why did they put SP in the first place its just a waste of time and effort like battlefield 4 you see a paint flying on the air or soldiers just freeze if these games are really good at MP why put SP?

So they can appeal to people who want to play a military shooter but don't want to compete against other people.

15:th playthough of Knights of the Old Republic and still going strong. lol.

I see your point though, and the one above. It's pretty obvious it's a "trick", or maybe more a tactic to make sure the game sells to a wider set of buyers. After all, companies usually want one thing, and one thing only: Make money.

I've played the original Deus Ex even more I'd say since it's a classic. But those games are few and far between, and we replay them because they give us choices in the story line which changes both the play experience and the outcome of the game itself. Most games don't do that.
