[ABANDONED] [1.1] vpCallouts - Additional Callouts

Featured Replies

Please keep making the script for 0.95. Even though 1.0 Is here, a lot of people are actually using 0.95 regarding stability ( Yes a lot of people say that 1.0 is less stable and so is mine opinion ).

Overall it's great ! Been using it from the start and still enjoy it !

When will this script be stable with lcpdfr 1.0 without crashes ????

Unfortunately my computer is broken at the moment, so I'm not sure when I'll be updating the script. I'm hoping to have my PC fixed as soon as I can raise enough money to get a replacement PSU, but until then there isn't much I can do. I'm aware of the issues with 1.0 and I'll look into them as soon as I can. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the feedback! Like I mentioned above my PC is broken so I won't be doing any updates until I'm able to fix it(none of the other computers in this house can run GTAIV for testing so..). However I have heard from quite a few people that 1.0 isn't too stable at the moment, so I've been debating the idea of continuing development as a standalone mod, as well as having an API version. This would allow people who don't use 1.0 to continue using updated versions of vpcallouts, as well as letting those who do use it have a more optimized version of the mod. The downside of this being the non-API version may have more bugs and take longer to update, as everything is done manually as opposed to using LCPDFR(the script crashing on spawning vehicles is an example of this.)

I'll post back here with my decision on this once I get my computer fixed and update to 1.2- until then, I'm afraid the script is going to be stuck in it's glitchy state at 1.1. I'm not happy about it, but there's not much else I can do without having a team of dedicated testers or a PC capable of running IV. Sorry all!

I can certainly help with the development of the LCPDFR v1.0 version?  My GTA IV runs rather stable for 2-3 hours without crashing.  I can PM more details if you need; how dedicated did you want your testers?  I can at least test some daily.

Appreciate your feedback Vocosol, understand it without a decent computer you can't test. And to let it be tested every time you change something by others is a whole list.

If you are actually searching for testers and what so ever, PM me and i`ll send you the system details that i`m working with etc. So far 1.1 is quite stable with me. I even use it more then I actually use the Braveheart script. My community switched over to your callouts, especially with the hands up function that makes it more stable. And more fun as well. I don't see a lot of domestics etc, but that;s okay because I understand that it is all in development and you decided to make the fun parts first ;).

Thanks for the offers to test, guys! I'll keep them in mind as I do want to start getting testers for my various mods.

K-9 I'm actually glad you asked as I have good news! I just ordered my new PSU for my computer which means I'll be back up and running sometime next week, and I should have vpCallouts updated within a week after that. I'm actually planning in rewriting some of the base code to make it more stable and allow it to interact with my other scripts I have planned.

Thanks for the patience and interest guys, I know its been a while but things are getting back on track! Expect regular updates as soon as my mail comes in.

Ah yes. As mentioned above, I've decided to abandon vpCallouts in pursuit of other scripts and challenges that I can take my time on and not completely kill like I did this one. In the future I may release a newer, updated callout script to work with 1.0 but at this time I've moved on to other projects.

Thank you to everyone who downloaded the mod, and I apologize that it took me this long to come to this conclusion. You're all wonderful and I look forward to releasing new and improved scripts in the future!

im unable to download this mod. it says error " Sorry, you don't have permission for that!" please help

Please do not upload this modification to any sites other than LCPDFR for public use.

NOTE: Development on vpCallouts is on hold, as my computer is broken. Until I can earn enough money to order the replacement parts needed to fix it, I'm unable to update the mod. Sorry guys!

What it is

Vocosol's Police Callouts(vpCallouts) is the first of many planned script addons for GTAIV to enhance LCPDFR gameplay. The script was designed specifically for my clan, however I'm releasing it to the public for feedback and suggestions for additional calls and scenarios. vpCallouts is not meant to be something unique and brand new, nor is it meant to be perfect, but instead was an exercise in scripting for myself and a chance to practice using the scripthook.

The script currently adds 8 new callouts, with many more planned. A list of these calls can be found at the end of this post.

Features
- 12 Callouts to respond to alone or with your friends online
- Fully customizable configuration files, containing options to set hotkeys as well as the option to change responses given by dispatch
- An extra hotkey that, when enabled, will make it easier to deal with large crowds in multiplayer- pressing it makes whatever ped you're aiming at drop their weapon and place their hands on their head until someone can come arrest them.
- Callouts have chances to go different ways- one suspicious person may be carrying a gun, another may blow themselves up when you approach.

Current Calls
As of right now, there are 8 calls fully coded into the game with many more planned in the future:
- Fights
- Attempted Murder(Or Murder, if you don't arrive on scene in time)
- Shots Fired
- Suspicious Persons
- Welfare Checks
- Large Scale Shootouts
- Armed Individuals
- Stolen Vehicles
NEW (v1.1)
- Broken Down Vehicles/Roadside assistance
- Officer in Trouble
- Kidnapping
- Armed Robbery

Planned Calls/Features
As I improve and learn more about scripting for GTAIV, I plan to add many more calls- as well as take suggestions from users:

- MVAs
- Hostage Situations
- Mugging
- Suicidal Persons
- Shoplifting
- Terrorist Activity
- Gang Violence
- Injured Persons
- Intoxicated Individuals
- Drunk Drivers
- Suspicious Objects

- Serving Warrants/Raids

- Option to disable blips, making the game more realistic and challenging as you have to search for the scene
- Random events spawning throughout the city

- After quite a few requests, text will be made bigger and it's location will no longer be in the top left corner. The configuration file will have an option to choose where the call spawns.

New Hotkey - HandsUp
A new hotkey has been added(Default Q), which when pressed will make a targeted ped drop their weapon and place their hands on their head. This helps out when dealing with multiple subjects or when playing multiplayer, as it allows you to detain a pedestrian without actually having to arrest them with LCPDFR- meaning one of your friends can arrest them when they arrive on scene.

NOTE ABOUT HandsUp HOTKEY: When using this key, the targeted pedestrian will place their hands on their head and (should) remain frozen like that. What this means is that, while they can still be arrested with LCPDFR, they won't follow whoever arrested them. In order to properly make an arrest after someone's used the HandsUp key, be it in singleplayer or multiplayer, anyone running this script can target the compliant ped and press the key again. This will release them from the animation, allowing them to be arrested properly, or walk away if you were merely detaining them temporarily.

Customizable Response Strings
The configuration file contains a section dedicated to responses, the text shown on screen when receiving a call or going on duty. This level of customization goes beyond simply changing your units callsign, as it also allows you to change what your dispatcher is called and how they interact with you. For example:

"Dispatch to Alpha 2, what's your status?" can customized to be "CENTRAL: Alpha 2, status check"

This means you can change the name of dispatch(Central, Dispatch, Mat-Com, Mom, etc;), and if your group or local department uses 10-codes you can change "on(/off)-duty" to reflect this as well.

With update 1.1, you are now able to change the name of calls when they're given to you. You could use this to replace "shots fired" with a 10 code used by your department, for example(Thanks to FCV96 for the suggestion!).

Recent Updates

v1.1 - 12/15/2013

- Added 4 additional callouts: Officer in Trouble, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, and Roadside Assistance

- Possibly fixed the bug where shots fired suspects wouldn't shoot.

- Added the ability to customize call names.

v1.0 - 12/15/2013

- Initial Release, vpCallouts officially launches publicly and offers 8 callouts to be played with.

Known Bugs
- Shots Fired/Shootout suspects won't shoot unless being arrested or someone fires a weapon(Possibly fixed 1.1)

- Certain spawns seem to be bugged(Peds in water, on beaches, falling off bridges)

- Officer spawned in the Officer Assistance call has a red blip. (Patched in 1.2)

- Armed Robbery victims are spawning too close to suspects

- Kidnapping victim doesn't leave car after driver has been arrested.

- Kidnapping may spawn on a motorcycle.

- Fights often spawn across the map, in the center of it, in different places, or not at all.

- Stalled Cars/Stolen Cars/Kidnapping - there's a chance the vehicle won't spawn, crashing the script as it tries to interact

As I'm new to this, there may be bugs/glitches that I'm not aware of. If you spot any, I would greatly appreciate it if you could report them here. Thanks!

Please feel free to ask questions, comment, or offer any suggestions and feedback you may have!
