What are your specs?

Featured Replies

It's not my personal pc, it' s a school PC that I use everyday in study hall, but:

8 core Intel i7 @ 3.40 GHz

Nvidia Quadro 600 Graphics card

16 GB RAM

120 GB WD Hard drive

1TB WD hard drive

That's all I can find for it. Also, would this be good to run GTA IV on? lol. I'll post my personal specs when I get home.

Good luck finding gaming drivers for the Quadro. I'd imagine that would bring a sh*tstorm of issues with both new and older games. The Quadro is a workstation card for graphics rendering and engineering/architecture programs.

Also;

Windows 8 Pro

GIGABYTE Z77X-UD3H

Intel Core i7 3770K

6GB OCZ Reaper

nVidia GeForce GTX 670

2x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM

23" LG LED IPS 1080p Display

Razer Black Widow Ultimate

Razer Imperator

NZXT Apollo

A406-1069-maina.jpg

Imperator0.jpg

Razer-BlackWidow-540x350.jpg

Detail settings:

Crysis 3 - Ultra

Battlefield 4 - Ultra

Elder Scrolls Skyrim - Ultra

Counter Strike GO - Ultra

Guild Wars 2 - Ultra

But it's already obsolete.

I have that same keyboard! The whole reason I bought it was because of the clicking keys!

I figured as much. The computer I use is for an AutoCAD class, so it needs to run AutoCAD and Revit Architecture.

Hey Crawford? What is the model of your i7, I'm curious to find out which i7 model has 8 cores, its usually 4 cores but 8 threads from what I've seen. I'm totally gonna go looking for this 8 core if that's what you've got!

It probably is only a quad core, it just shows as 8 because of hyper threading - 2 threads per core.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Cause I was rooting around the Intel website and couldn't find a full 8 core. I was just double checking.

They make a six core with twelve threads but the best chip they sell is over $1000, and to be honest makes a minimal difference with today's games. 8 core AMD's sound impressive but each core is smaller, and has less processing power. So higher end quad core Intel's beat AMD octo cores in most cases.

Yes well there is definitely a huge price difference no doubt however and 8 core AMD processor such as the FX-8350 over measures the average 4 core i7 such as the i7-3820 (comparison here). Also the FX-8350 is just under the i7-4960X which is intel's extreme 6 core processor (comparison here). And this is only on stock for both processor, sure you might be able to over clock the intels just a little bit but amd's you can just destroy and they still run and get them high enough (which they definitely can run at faster frequencies than intels) they will rank higher.

Plus I don't know about you guys but I'd feel more conferrable overclocking a $300 cpu than a $1k lol. Yes there are differences between intel and AMD and it depends on your preference and how advanced you are. If your the average gamer who isn't interested in overclocking or modifying your cpu then I wouldn't recommend trying, so stick with the intel. But if you're not afraid, know how to overclock properly, and don't mind replacing a $300 or so cpu then you can out rank an intel cpu.

I agree and disagree with ya, but I understand where you're coming from.

Gaming benchmarks are what I'm more interested in, but if you want to look at it from a pure processing power point of view like you're suggesting, here you go:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-8350+Eight-Core

Clean win for top tier Intels.

This gaming benchmark test is a clearer measure for me, because it reflects real world performance. Intel wins again:

https://teksyndicate.com/videos/amd-fx-8350-vs-intel-3570k-vs-3770k-vs-3820-gaming-and-xsplit-streaming-benchmarks

I have nothing personal against AMD. I was running an AMD Phenom II X4 955BE just months ago before Windows Update trashed my OS and GPU firmware, but running Crysis 3 (as an example), I got about 45 on medium details at 1080p. With my new Core i7 3700K, without any overclocking I get 45 on ultra at 1080p. The CPU was the major bottleneck.

Yeah but that's all at stock though, that's something you have to remember, start overclocking and AMD will catch up so easily.

And I have nothing against Intel, I'm just not conferrable overclocking the crap out of a 500-1000 dollar chip xD. I mean in my gaming laptop no doubt intel, but in my tower, I've got an AMD with water cooling and a few high powered fans. But I'm gonna get a freezer type box for it lol.

EDIT: Here is something I'm gonna try. Here's a link.
