mean while in Iraq, 171 civilians have died in the past 3 days alone.

Where's their forum post? Where is their news coverage?

I bet you 100 Americans died today, of natural causes. This is a shooting in a civilized country.

Who says Iraq isn't civilized? They have their issues with terrorism and such but that's not to say you can't make something of yourself there.

I really don't understand the motive behind all these attacks, we haven't had a major shooting in 20 years here in Australia possibly because we have strict gun laws. Now I don't want to start up a gun laws debate because quite frankly even with gun laws in place, America will continue to have these shootings because there is already too many guns out there.

RIP to the victims and I hope they catch that alleged second suspect.

This is so sad. I remember Fort Hood. Looks like a shooting can happen anywhere. Not just Small cities and Towns. Even our Nation's capital can be a target. I also remember the Encore shooting here in Albuquerque. What the fuck is our country coming to?

Casualties of war my friend, casualties of war..

What war? Were not at war with Iraq anymore we haven't had any military actions in Iraq since early last year.... There killing is no different then the Boston bombing...

Why is FBI on scene? NCIS should have lead investigation because it was a Naval Base that was attacked.

Because NCSI doesn't have any experience in this stuff, also it wasn't just Navy personal that died civilians died too. The FBI will never give up a case to another branch that has no idea how the handle it.

This has nothing to do with guns laws, if someone wants to go kill a bunch of people they will do it one way or another. Just like last year a guy in china killed 20+ kids with a knife in a school.

This is the media fault they make these guys seem like a super heroes the way they show them on TV. It just gives the person on the edge of doing it the push over to actually do it.

Why is FBI on scene? NCIS should have lead investigation because it was a Naval Base that was attacked.

First, from pictures, a whole lot of different federal agencies were onscene. DC has tons of them. Joint Base police, military police, US Park Police, Capitol Police, ATF, FBI, NCIS, US Marshals, and probably others. DC is crawling with feds.

Second, this can fall under FBI or NCIS investigation, or, for that matter, probably any number of other agencies. The FBI has the expertise on this sort of thing, so they take lead. It's not like they work at cross-purposes: I highly doubt that the investigation will be all FBI agents, and other agencies will likely also be involved.

That's not to say NCIS has *no* experience; they do, and would likely be perfectly competent to handle this. Whoever said "civilians dying aren't their jurisdiction" is wrong: the NCIS can investigate ANY crime that bears *some* relation to the Navy. Even "being near a Navy base" can be enough for them to help, and anything on or in a Naval facility is *absolutely* within their jurisdiction. It's just that it's also in the FBI's jurisdiction.
